A small correction: >> attribute is a boolean attribute and everything works fine except that "attribute" is false << I mean if "attribute" is boolean "true" everything works fine, if "attribute" is set to "false" then the page is not rendered correctly

Getting permission information in Python (hasRole/getRoles ?)

In a method of a (python) product, I need to select the objects (eg in a Folder) for which a visitor (REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER) has a given permission (eg 'Access contents information'). I tried the following scheme: obj = the_item_to_be_tested if REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole( obj, ['Access contents information'])): # add obj to result list But hasRole() always returns None... I then tried to use the method getRoles(). The documentation (in Products/OFSP/help/AuthenticatedUser.py) says: def getRoles(object): """ Returns a list of the roles the user has on the given object (in the current context?) Permission -- Always available """ but when I try: REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles(obj) I get a TypeError. Strangely, I observed that without arguments, REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles() returns: ('Anonymous',) (for a request from 'Anoymous User'). So I need help from a Zope guru ! Emmanuel

I have been chasing my tail on this one for the better part of two hours now. Time to ask for help. My goal: I want to load a page whose URL looks like "day1.html" where the number in the name of the page changes. I have written a Python script called pagetoget which calculates the day number correctly and assembles the URL as a string, which it returns. This seems to work. ---- what you can try: <dtml-var "_.getitem(pagetoget)"> checkout dieter's chap3 in his book available on the net (search the archive for the url) to redirect, you can do this <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(pagetoget)"> rule # 666 in the road to zen: no dtml in dtml rule #69 states : if in " ", you're in python realm. :) hth

authenticated user

Hi! This must be a very easy question, but I didn't find the answer, and I rarely have a couple of minutes of net, so email, or an exact URL is all I can hope for. So user has to authenticate himself. When done, he has access to the site. I have exUserFolder, with SMB authsource -How can I tell what username did he give? (Different users have different things in the database) -How can I give roles to the users? I didn't find any such way as we have in the default user folder. Can I use NT domain groups to map the roles to? (Maybe only some of the roles, not including manager for example) Thanks Gee

Probably Dumb Question re count(*)

I know this has to be easy but my eyes are bloody from looking for the answer at zope.org and in the Zope docs. I want to have a sentence on a page that simply tells people how many records are in a database. I created a ZSQL method that just does this: select count(*) from database1 That method is called countrecords. Now in the DTML document, I have: There are <dtml-var countrecords> records in the database. No joy. No value ever gets placed into the sentence. So I suspect that the count is being returned as a list (which is how SQL results are supposed to be returned to Zope/Python, a I get it). But here, there's no row and there's no variable name, so how would I possibly iterate over it? Is there an easier, more direct way to do this? Can't create new DTML Document w/ Mozilla 0.9.7

Hi everyone, Can anyone else confirm this potential bug. Using the new Mozilla 0.9.7, I can't add a DTML Document, DTML Method, or Python Script to my Zope site. (Those are three that I know don't work, there may be others. I can add folders.) I've tested this with 2.5.0b3 and 2.3.3 with the same results. The browser just spins without any apparent response from Zope. Netscape 4.77 seems to work just fine. This is on Linux, BTW (browser and Zope). I didn't observe this with Mozilla 0.9.6.
