ZClass metatype question

Hi! I am creating a Product with several ZClasses based on ZObjectManager. Most of these are nested classes, so that class b is defined within class a and thus class b is only available in an instance of class a for addition. So far so good, but my problem is that within an instance of class b there should be other instances of class b and this only works if I create class b in the Product folder. There are several such cases and my selection of possible classes to add gets very large and is not manageable... Sadly I can not add class b as valid subobject - it does not show up on that list... I am now trying to override all_meta_types but I am currently not sure where to get the meta_data info from... Is there any way around this? Thank's in advance, Martin

I am using a typical lookup routine in a python script to find information about objects and return some of their properties. The method works great when you are making a comparison of strings. When this code is executed, I get a TypeError: cannot add type "Python Method" to string Does anyone know what the problem is? Note, I've done some diagnostics and simply had the method return the input value (given_element_number) and it does so properly. Here is the rest of the diagnostic information... Dear all, I recognized that if more than one (big)query is started on the server at the same time (by multiple users) it tends to get extremly slow. Is there any way to avoid this ? Sebastian

login authentication problem

I have changed the security setting on my index_html to only allow authenticated users to view the page and added the following code to my homepage zope site (to display the username on the homepage):- <dtml-var expr="_.SecurityGetUser().getUserName()"> On some PC's this works fine and when you keyin your username and password the homepage is displayed (with the username shown). On other PCs however you are prompted to login but once you enter a valid username and password the homepage is displayed but the username shows as "Anonymous User". Zope has obviously validated the user but then somehow switched back to "Anonymous User". I have tried to change various security settings within the internet explorer browser (version 5) but cannot get it to show the correct user. Out of 5 PCs, 3 work correctly and 2 show Anonymous User. Any help would be appreciated Finbarr

Hello Sir, How to Configure Virtual Host? i installed Zope-2.4.0 version.i got Siteroot product also.now i have to change httpd.conf or access.conf on Apache.here i got some doubts please clarify these. 1.NameVirtualHost 123.456.789.0 (here i have to my server ip is it correct)??? 2. <VirtualHost 123.456.789.0 (here also)? 3. ServerName www.foo.com --here i have to give my server name correct? 4. ServerAdmin webmaster(a)foo.com --admin user id@server name correct?? 5. DocumentRoot /folder/subfolder -- here i have to give folder name/subfolder name??? ... 6.following three lines as it is right.... As an alternate view, I have had great success running zope 2.3.x and 2.4.x on NT 4, sp6a. It has never crashed for the 1.5 years it has been running. The usage is light, and internal only (Intranet), so take this with a grain of salt. I'm launching it officially next week, so we'll see what song I'm singing next Month... :) I'm guessing that core zope is stable on either platform, but external/add-on programs may have issues on one platform or another. Just do your testing before going live. not safe for unpickling

I am getting this error on a site and I would like to find what objects or object types are causing it so that I can fix the problem. Functions should not be pickled and I am not sure how someone did get some pickled. Referencing a dtml method in a subfolder of the parent folder

Hi! Maybe this is a very simple question, but I can't find information about it anywhere. In a dtml method I want to include a dtml method which is in another subfolder of the parent folder. So if I have a folder called 'folder', which has two subfolders called 'subfolder1' and 'subfolder2', and each has a dtml method called 'method1' and 'method2', how can I include 'method2' in 'method1'? I've tried '<dtml-var ../subfolder2/method2>', but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

ZCVSFolder woes

Hi, Is anyone out there using ZCVSFolder to help manage Zope development? I've played with it a bit, and I'd love to start using it on the project that I'm currently managing, but I'm finding it problematic... What I've found is that I can add CVS Folder objects with no trouble, and that, at first, I can enter the CVS Folder objects and perform CVS operations as expected. If I wait a while, though, and then try to browse into the CVS Folder using the management interface again, I find that my http requests never get a response. I'll click on the "CVS" object, the browser shows me that it's working, but I never get into the CVS Folder... If I log into the server and run ./stop from the correct directory, I'll find that, for every time a CVS Folder access failed, one of the Zope python processes didn't die. That is, if I tried unsuccessfully 3 times to browse into the CVS Folder, then there will be 3 python processes left over that should have been killed by the ./stop command. If I kill these processes by hand, then I can restart the server, and the CVS Folders will work as expected again... for a little while. Also note that I can stop Zope from responding altogether if I allow the number of failed CVS Folder accesses to equal the NUMBER_OF_THREADS that Zope is allowed to spawn. I'm running Zope-2.4.2 on FreeBSD-4.4, and I'm using ZCVSFolder-0.2.5. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to make it stop happening? I like the ZCVSFolder interface, and being able to use it would GREATLY facilitate our development process. Thanks! -r

Apache Rewrites for VHM : was (Help!)

Suresh, With eVHM, you can have Apache rewrite all requests to Zope's root. VHM then takes over redirecting to sub-folders inside Zope. try http://www.zope.org/Members/sfm/SiteAccessEnhanced for a nice Management tab of your redirects.
