structured text nonascii-characters, umlaute
by Elena Schulz 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Dear List, I am starting Zope 2.4.2 on win98 like so: "J:\Zope\ZopeSite\bin\python.exe" "J:\Zope\ZopeSite\z2.py" -D -L "german" %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 and refer to structurd text like: <dtml-var stxTest fmt=structured-text> but the umlaute like ä, ü, ö and other non ascii-characters are not rendered properly. Does anybody know what to do or where the problem might be? Thanks for your replies, Elena

WebDAV locking problem, some more enlightment
by Joachim Schmitz 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Hi, I installed the mod_dav in my local apache, to try if it shows the same symtoms, and found some interesting things. 1. Word opens documents not writeprotected on the apache DAV-store, even if they are not writable !!! 2. By accident I had the executable flag set on a htm-file, this file is opened writeprotected !!! This is reproduceble, if you unset the x-flag it is opened in readwrite mode. I took a log of both situations: the only difference I could find was in the response to the GET /dav/testdocweb.htm HTTP/1.1 Accept-Language: de, en-us;q=0.2 If-None-Match: "1cb27-8ce-3bf6bf01" Translate: f User-Agent: Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider DAV Host: 10.2.1.1 Connection: Keep-Alive wich in the readwrite case is: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 19:50:19 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.19 (Unix) (SuSE/Linux) mod_python/2.7.2 Python/2.0 DAV/1.0.2 Last-Modified: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 19:50:08 GMT ETag: "1cb25-8fb-3bf6bf70" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 2299 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=99 Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: text/html <html xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" .... rest of document and in the writeprotected case HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 19:28:14 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.19 (Unix) (SuSE/Linux) mod_python/2.7.2 Python/2.0 DAV/1.0.2 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=99 Connection: Keep-Alive Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html 8fb <html xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" .... rest of document. in this case the document is fetched a second time, after unlocking. which is also the case, when fetching a htm-file from Zope-Dav storage here is the get for a doc-file: GET /test/testdoc11111111.doc HTTP/1.1 Accept-Language: de, en-us;q=0.2 If-None-Match: ts06033018.5 Translate: f User-Agent: Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider DAV Host: a.b.de:9800 Connection: Keep-Alive Authorization: Basic xxxxxxxx= and here the response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Zope/(Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.0, linux2) ZServer/1.1b$ Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 21:38:41 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Type: application/msword Content-Length: 19456 Last-Modified: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 21:36:58 GMT it follows the binary doc-file here is the get for an htm-file: GET /test/testweb1.htm HTTP/1.1 Accept-Language: de, en-us;q=0.2 Translate: f User-Agent: Microsoft Data Access Internet Publishing Provider DAV Host: a.b.de:9800 Connection: Keep-Alive Authorization: Basic xxxxxxxxxx= and the response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Zope/(Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.0, linux2) ZServer/1.1b$ Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 21:38:12 GMT Content-Type: text/html Content-Length: 2703 The only thing which is not there in the writeprotected cases in the response is the "ETag:" and the "Accept-Ranges: bytes", perhaps that tells something to the wizards of the HTTP-protocol ;-) Mit freundlichen Grüßen Joachim Schmitz AixtraWare, Ing. Re: Login forms and selective dtml display
by Juan Garcia Garcia 26 Nov '01

Hi, i have done this a few weeks ago and it isn't so easy. You must use cookie based authentication (instead of basic authentication); at least there are some products that do it for you (Generic User Folder "GUF", LoginManager, ...) I use the GUF product with a database in Postgres, but i have read a lot of documentation before i made it work fine. Bye

URL of ZClass factory?
by Lars Heber 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Hello, how can I get the URL of the factory of a ZClass, when I am inside an instance of that ZClass? I don't want to hard code it. The HTML source of manage_main of my ZClass looks like: <input type="hidden" name=":method" value="manage_addProduct/testProduct2/myFolder_factory" /> How can I get that value string dynamically? Or even better: Are there properties which store 1. the name (id) of the product the instance I'm in belongs to, 2. the name (id) of the ZClass the instance belongs to (not the meta_type!), 3. the id of the factory (this isn't so important though, 'cause it's just "id + '_factory'", isn't it?) Hopefully, somebody can help me here, as I couldn't find any hints anywhere... Thanks a lot. -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.de T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen

RE: [Zope] Finding acquired properties in an external method
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Hopefully I understand the problem here... Correct me if I am wrong. Part of the problem with acquisition is that if propertyItems() exists within person's namespace it will only render within that, meaning that unless propertyItems() itself harvests properties from other areas above person in the acquisition stack, acquisition won't help here. What I have done in the past is create, recursively, flat property registries returning dictionaries, with underlying logic using getPhysicalPath() and restrictedTraverse(); one method recursively builds a stack of the hierarchy using getPhyicalPath and custom logic to determine where to stop in the hierarchy, turns the stack into a queue, and then returns it; another method then walks that path (as a queue) to get all properties in the path, provided there are no name collisions for those properties, and returns them all as a big dictionary... I haven't done this with properties, but data stored in several ParsedXML docs, but the same idea should apply. Not entirely graceful (or as magic as acquisition), but it works. Re: [Zope] Re: Transactions in Zope?

Bruce Eckel wrote: > > >try this: > > > > except smtplib.SMTPSenderRefused: > > get_transaction().abort() > > return "Invalid email address: please press your" > > "browser's 'back' key and correct it" Actually, just thought about this... Probably the 'correct' way to do all this is to not catch the exception but to modify your standard_error_message to display the right thing when this exception is encountered. That way, IIRC, Zope will take care of aborting the transaction for you. cheers, Chris

Problem with Zope!!!..................Pravin
by Pravin Raj Joshi 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Recently I downloaded Zope and am in the process of learning it. I am working out the Zope book. Here is what I have installed: Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, win 32) Python 2.1 (MSC 32 bit Intel) System win 32 (Win 98 Second Edition) Problem I Face: I am currently working with Chapter 5 of the Zope Book (Creating Basic Zope Applications). In it for navigation I created the DTML method navigation in the ZopeZoo folder. That called all the folders properly. I have a link for navigation (using dtml-var) in the standard-html-header. Then I created the index_html file in the ZopeZoo folder. In it I called standard-html-header. Now the links of the navigation are not shown. If I include a line like <p>This is a trial</p> in the navigation object that will be shown, but not the navigation panel. Then I created another DTML document called html_header in the ZopeZoo folder with dtml-var navigation. It works. Then when I call that in my index_html again no nagivation bar. Can anyone let me know what the problem is or if I am doing anything wrong. Thank you. Pravin

form arrays?
by Ray Lance 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

When I add an onclick=window.open to my form, the entire form array is presented in REQUEST, rather than just "this" form that was clicked. Just "this" form is presented without the javascript. How can I get the selected color of just the product I clicked on? How does the addition of javascript change the "post" of the form from "this" (clicked) form to the entire array of forms on the page?
