Problem of accessing nested ZClass by FTP
by iap＠y2fun.com 24 Nov '01

24 Nov '01

Hi, I have a ZClass-based product, say ZClassTest. There is a ZClass named "ZClass1" in that product folder. There is another ZClass named "ZClass2" within the ZClass1. i.e. ZClass2 is a method of ZClass1. The problem is that I can access the content of ZClass2 by WebDAV. But failed to access the same content by FTP. The error message says that there is not such file or directory. that is : ftp://host/Control_Panel/Products/ZClassTest/ZClass1/propertysheets/methods/ZClass2 is fine.( return a list with "propertyshees/methods") but ftp://host/Control_Panel/Products/ZClassTest/ZClass1/propertysheets/methods/ZClass2/propertysheets/methods is broken. ( error 505) I noticed that actually the zope responses an extra space behind "ZClass2", that is ftp://host/Control_Panel/Products/ZClassTest/ZClass1/propertysheets/methods/ZClass2 /propertysheets/methods I hacked the zope code () and strip that extra space off. But the trouble is still there. Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Iap, Singuan

General question about ZClasses
by Lars Heber 24 Nov '01

24 Nov '01

OK, folks, as I wrote some minutes ago, I'm about of building my own management screens for some ZClasses. What I actually want to do is: I want to emulate some kind of book. The chapters are folders, each chapter consists of several paragraphs, each a DTML document, which are puzzled together on demand. I have written an edit method for the chapter, from which you can edit each single paragraph by using the standard manage_main of the DTML document. What I want to do is to enable users to manage each chapter, i. e. copy, paste, rename, add, ... But users should not be allowed to manage the DTML documents directly. I didn't find a possibility to blind out the DTML documents from the standard folder management screen. Restricting permissions to forbid editing and managing DTML documents failed, because I want to edit and manage them from my own editing method, which only redirects to the correct document management screen provided by Zope. Thus also proxy roles don't work That's why I started to write my own management screen on which you can only manage folders which actually are the chapters. Perhaps this is the completely wrong way of doing things. So, can somebody direct me to the right path? Otherwise, I have the following problem: Of course, I also want to add new folders / chapters. But I don't want to hard code the URL to the corresponding factory. Can I somehow find out the URL of that factory dynamically? I want this because I'm afraid that when I want to rename my product, or use that ZClass in another product again, or even distribute the product, the paths with static URLs are broken. Any hints? P.S.: Sorry for that long posting... P.P.S.: I'm still looking for an extensive Zope object reference which is better / more documented (examples?) than ZQR and API Reference. Also a good book would be fine. If someone could give me some link, I would be very grateful! -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.de T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen

Re: [Zope] FTP and file names
by iap＠y2fun.com 24 Nov '01

Hi, Andreas Thank. I think that I got the idea what happened. In the Zserver/FTPServer.py in "def listdir_completion" if long: for id, stat_info in file_infos: dir_list=dir_list+filesys.unix_longify(id,stat_info)+'\r\n' In case when the stat_info[4] (file owner) is "System Processes", the returned list of unix_longify will got extra-column which causes the ftp client to misunderstand the actually filename. a very quick-and-dirty work around is as follows: if long: for id, stat_info in file_infos: stat_info=list(stat_info) stat_info[4]=string.replace(stat_info[4],' ','_') dir_list=dir_list+filesys.unix_longify(id,stat_info)+'\r\n' hopes the development team will work on this. referencing an object elsewhere in the tree
by sirius legend 24 Nov '01

24 Nov '01

Hello, I'm new to zope, and find it the best web application environment ;) Have a little problem... Browsed thru the docs and mailing lists, but can't find any information on how can i refer to objects that are not in the acquistion path. For example i build simple a shop, and have all shopping cart related dtml methods in /cart folder. In the cart's list method i'd like to include the icon, and other details can be found for example at /products/accessories/wallet/. Is there any way to do this? Now I store string object id's in cart's session variables like '/products/bags/djbag'. It's the cart item's original path. I think I should be able to resolve the object from this id, but how? There are also relations between products, like a products can be made from a list of materials, and that materials are also products. I tried to use ZCatalog to solve this, but it indexed only the current folder ( eg. /products/bags, but not the /products/materials ). The layout: /products/ materials/ natural1/ icon.gif, etc... natural2/ coloured/ black/ orange/ ... bags/ djbag/ ( here i'd like to have a manually edited list of links to materials ) backpack/ ... /cart/ list ( here i'd like to resolve object ids like /products/bags/dj ) edit ... Your help would be appreciated, martin

You are not authorized to access ... exception has me baffled
by Brad Clements 24 Nov '01

24 Nov '01

I've broken my site, and can't figure it out. This is Zope 2.4.3 binary on Linux I have / (root) with acl_users /Strader public without an acl_users (all permissions are "acquire from above") /Strader/P not public, has an LDAPUserFolder for acl_users local roles are defined in the root /acl_users Security for /Strader/P has disabled acquisition of "access contents information" and "view", and enabled these permissions for the roles Manager, SFCustomer and SFManager Logging in as a Manager defined in root /acl_users works for management, but when I attempt to view a ZPT in /Strader/P using the Test tab, I get "you are not authorized to access title" My manager userid is also defined in the LDAP adapter as well, so I'm authenticated by the LDAPUserFolder in /Strader/P or /acl_users depending on what I'm accessing. So "view" in /Strader works okay for me -- But the real problem is -- Logging in as a user who is only defined in LDAP adapter, who has the roles SFCustomer and SFManager still gives the same error "not authorized to access title" on /Strader/P/Master (page template when viewing) I'm totally stumped, it's as if LDAPUserFolder is not returning the correct list of roles. However, if I temporarily enable acquisition of view and "access contents", I can get this output from viewing the ZPT roles are ('SFCustomer', 'SFManager', 'Anonymous', 'Authenticated') (the Master template has ) roles are <span tal:content="user/getRoles">roles</span> Anyone have any ideas how to diagnose this so I can see where to fix it? I've searched the archives, there are some grumblings about this in the past but no obvious silver bullet. recipe-question
by Sven Hohage 23 Nov '01

23 Nov '01

I'm using a nice small python-script from zopelabs: objects = context.objectValues() #get the objects in this folder for object in objects: print "id:", object.id property_names = object.propertyIds() # list of dictionaries of property names. for property in property_names: print property + ": " + object.getProperty(property) print print return printed The things I don't get are use of the double print statement and more importantly the need for returning printed. Why isn't print enough. Thanks.

Idea: move "type to Add select box" to the top frame (logged in as..)
by H.de.Wit＠SFK.NL 23 Nov '01

23 Nov '01

Just an idea, really no idea how complicated it would be: When the "type to add" select-box would be in the top frame, we would have more space in the objects window.
