Problem when using Z SQL Method and URL named field
by Norman Khine 26 Nov '01

26 Nov '01

Hello, I don't know what/ and if this is correct, but perhaps somebody can check for me. I have a MySQL database connection with ZMySQLDA, and have the following table. CREATE TABLE BusinessName ( BusID int(11) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL auto_increment, BusinessName varchar(40), CompanyInfo text, NoEmployees int(11), Turnover int(11), URL varchar(35), Status int(2) DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (BusID) ) Here is my Z SQL Method insert into BusinessName (BusinessName, CompanyInfo, NoEmployees, Turnover, URL, Status) values ('<dtml-var BusinessName>', '<dtml-var CompanyInfo>', '<dtml-var NoEmployees>', '<dtml-var Turnover>', '<dtml-var URL>', '<dtml-var Status>') The problem is that URL appends the path of where the object is based, to the url address I type, so that I get this:- SQL used: insert into BusinessName (BusinessName, CompanyInfo, NoEmployees, Turnover, URL, Status) values ('dfsfdfs', 'dsfsdfasf', '12', '1', 'http://this-address.net//Tutorials/Zope_MySQL/methods/insert2/manage_test', '1') So how do I resolve this? Without having to rename the field name. HELP! My Zclass just disappeared and I am getting *weird* console errors!
by Darin Lee 25 Nov '01

25 Nov '01

Zopisitas, I have been working on a ZClass based product for the past month or so - somehow I just clicked the wrong button combination (I was adjusting 'views' mappings) and my zclass is no longer addable via the factory. Instead, I get the following error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'EZPortal' is not defined This occurs when I try to add the zClass via the zope dropdown. Furthermore, the console started spitting errors. This happened before and I had to delete and recreate Zclasses to get them to function properly. However, now I have many child Zclasses, and many more methods complete - so deleting is not an option. I have checked and rechecked everything; permissions, factories, methods - everything is configured correctly but I simply can't add. This is a complex Zclass-based system and I have *many, many* hours into it. If anyone has any idea on what possibly could be wrong I would be very, very grateful. Zope console errors follow: -------------------------------------------------- Zope console is returning the following message, although I'm unsure if it's related or not: 2001-11-25T06:38:39 ERROR(200) ZODB setklassstate failed Traceback (innermost last): File E:\PROGRA~1\ZOPEDE~1\lib\python\ZODB\Connection.py, line 582, in setklass state (Info: >?) I have a 2 zwiki sites with site2 as a child of site1 I do this to inherit the look and feel of site1. Now site2 does not contain standard_wiki_header etc. Instead it inherits this from site1. This is good - and works. Infortunately this standard_wiki_header calls a python script object at the same level as itself (ie site1) Now briefly, site2 continued to work calling this method. I then played around with security settings to not allow annonymous access to either site, and also added extra users and roles to create greater security for site2. At this point site2 could not access the python script as before - even when logged on as superuser will all permisions. Newbie Design Issue
by Jeremy Lowery 25 Nov '01

I've just got involved with Zope, but I'm fairly versued in traditional web development, and python. I'm currently working on an app that tracks seting up computers based on a "check list" type deal, and who was responsible for it. If this were just a static "check list" of things that had to be done, this would be easy, but it needs the facilities to allow users to make new check lists, edit them, and destroy them. Since I'm not an old pro at Zope, I figured that I would just use some ZClasses to represent these things. My question is, what would be the easiest (as far as time, and need of indepth knowledge of Zope) way to do this? The ideas I have are...to let users enter in Check List items and then dynamically generate Zope Objects that represent each check list...Or another way would be to have Zope objects for all the check list items, and the check lists, and then more objects for the actual data stored in the check lists (Like who installed this piece of software, and what is the Computer's Service and Serial numbers.) As I said, the main purpose of this post is to get design ideas. Origionally, I had set this up in a RDBMS but that would cause too much overhead. RE: [Zope] Publishing bookmarks with XBEL from Zope

Consider posting this question to the zope-xml list, and you might get some more responses and ideas. I'm not familiar with XBEL, but this should be reasonable to do with not a lot of work. You would want to use ParsedXML, which supports standard DOM calls, like: dom = context['MyXMLDocumentId'] items = dom.getElementsByTagName('bookmark') for bookmarknode in items: text = '' for childnode in bookmarknode.childNodes: if childnode.nodeType == 3: #if nodetype is text, append to text text = text+childnode.nodeValue context.doSomethingWith(text) #where doSomethingWith is a method in the #acquisition path of this script's context For a simple XML schema, simple DOM traversals of your bookmarks should be able to read them in using ParsedXML, which will store a document; you could use the upload functionality of ParsedXML to upload someone's bookmarks, and use TTW python scripts to read each entry, and another ttw python script or dtml method to loop through all of them... It should be reasonable to do this...
