Problems Accessing site after reinstall
by Steven Grimes 07 Nov '01

07 Nov '01

I'm in the process of upgrading one of my zope servers and after I get everything reinstalled and try to log on the only user that I can log on as is the super user account. I made sure to install the same version and all the same products and then I copied my data.fs into the \var directory and I tried to access the site. I can not use any of the users I had with the old system. Both setups are Zope 2.2.0, Windows NT 4 sp5, IIS4 with pcgi. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Please Help! - Changing instance owner with external script...
by Rob Foster 07 Nov '01

07 Nov '01

Hi there, I've been trying to get the external script below to work with little success (I found it on ZopeLabs): def custom_changeOwnership(self, username, obj): acl_users = getattr(self, 'acl_users') #UserFolder source user = acl_users.getUser(username).__of__(acl_users) obj.changeOwnership(user) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've got a script that grabs a username value "name" from a form and creates an instance in an adjacent directory. Using your script, I'm trying to get the owner changed to the same value... with no luck. I keep getting messages like this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: changeOwnership Traceback (innermost last): File /filepath/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /filepath/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /filepath/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 226, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: LockableItem) File /filepath/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /filepath/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: checkUsers) File /filepath/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: checkUsers) File /filepath/lib/python/Shared/DC/Scripts/Bindings.py, line 324, in __call__ (Object: checkUsers) File /filepath/lib/python/Shared/DC/Scripts/Bindings.py, line 354, in _bindAndExec (Object: checkUsers) File /filepath/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/PythonScript.py, line 363, in _exec (Object: checkUsers) (Info: ({'script': <PythonScript instance at edb860>, 'context': <Folder instance at c523c0>, 'container': <Folder instance at c523c0>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, (), {}, None)) File Script (Python), line 26, in checkUsers (Object: guarded_getitem) File /filepath/lib/python/Products/ExternalMethod/ExternalMethod.py, line 281, in __call__ (Object: customChangeOwnership) (Info: (('dfd', 'dfd'), {}, None)) File /filepath/Extensions/custom_zmgmt.py, line 5, in custom_changeOwnership (Object: LockableItem) AttributeError: (see above) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the script: context.REQUEST.set('id', request.form['name']) my_context= context.members.manage_addProduct['MyProduct'] my_context.Member_add(my_context,context.REQUEST, NoRedir=1) context.customChangeOwnership(request.form['name'], context.members.REQUEST['name']) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think maybe part of the problem is that I don't know what "context" means exactly and how to use it. I'm guessing this error is caused because an object can't be found? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Zope hanging
by Joachim Schmitz 06 Nov '01

Hi, I have serveral Zope-servers running on one machine, Zope-2.3.2 under Linux. One of them hangs from time to time, when it hangs I find the following in the z2.log: Unhandled exception in thread: Traceback (innermost last): File "/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.3.2/ZServer/PubCore/ZServerPublisher.py", line 97, in __init__ response._finish() File "/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.3.2/ZServer/PCGIServer.py", line 407, in _finish self.stdout.close() File "/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.3.2/ZServer/PCGIServer.py", line 451, in close Wakeup() File "/ZopeVersions/Zope-2.3.2/ZServer/medusa/select_trigger.py", line 74, in pull_trigger os.write (self.trigger, 'x') OSError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe can someone enlighten me, what that means. Traversal issue...
by Rob Foster 06 Nov '01

06 Nov '01

Ok, here's the setup... I've got two adjacent folders: Folder A - This folder has a form that will allow users to edit the properties of a specific zclass instance that resides in Folder B. Folder B - This folder has a bunch of instances (each instance's id maps to the username of a user in the system) Now, the users each have a cookie with their username set... When they fill out the form in folder A, I want to update the instance in B that maps to them (based on the value of their cookie), but I can't seem to "get to" (traverse?) the right instance with either DTML or Python. Any help would be appreciated as always. Thanks, Rob

Help
by Scott Kuei 06 Nov '01

Hi, I have created two dtml scripts to upload an image. The first script is to give the promp to users to upload their image and then call the second script as an action. But everytime when I click on the Sumit Query button, it just keeps loading non-stop. It doesn't give me any error messages, but just keep uploading. Can anyone help me? my scripts: Id: SubmitImage <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title></h2> <p>Upload a picture to the MGL Image Archive.</p> <form action="photoAction" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <p>Title: <input type="text" name="photo_title"></p> <p>Description: <input type="text" name="description"></p> <p>File: <input type="file" name="file"></p> <input type="submit"> </form> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ---------------------------------------- Id: photoAction <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title></h2> <dtml-call expr="someFolder.addImage(id , title=photo_title , file=file , description=description )"> <p>The image submission is done successfully.</p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer>

Erratic HTTP 500
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 06 Nov '01

06 Nov '01

I have an automated process that uses cron and wget to hit a method in Zope daily. Normally in wget, I first get a 401, which prompts wget to send basic auth, which it sends upon resending the request with the right user/pw in headers, and then gets a 200 (success) after a 15 to 20 minutes (it's a big, slow process). Lately, though, I have been getting an HTTP 500 almost instantaneously on occasion, and the logs seem to verify this. Retrying the process usually solves this problem, but I am trying to figure out why the 500 error is occurring. I am running Zope 2.3.2 with ZEO (1.0b3 + modifications from CVS earlier this summer), and one of my 2 ZEO clients is having this problem and not the other. I have squid in front of this setup for Virtual host support and Squid load-balances the 2 ZEO clients, and the requests, when sent to one of my ZEO clients works fine, but seems to fail every time. The box that seems to be having the problem seems to work fine in other respects. Anybody have any thoughts on what problems might trigger an HTTP 500 in Zope? lis index out of range on an PythonEM call ????
by Doyon, Jean-Francois 06 Nov '01

06 Nov '01

Hello, I have an external method that I call using: <dtml-with expr="getmap('177')" mapping> And all works fine ... But if I change that value 177 to 30516 I get : Error Type: IndexError Error Value: list index out of range I faily to understand why ... The value is actually passed as a string, which is what i want ... in the PythonEM, all that's done is a string concatenation: def getmap(id): mapserver = urlopen("http://www-gad2.ccrs.nrcan.gc.ca/cgi-bin/mapserv?map=/home/mapdata/ nac/"+id+".map&template=to_zope.html") <more code> Anybody know why this is happening and how to get around it? Backing up the Data.fs
by Alastair Burt 06 Nov '01

06 Nov '01

I have just sent a message to the list asking how to fix my corrupt Data.fs. Now I am wondering how I got into this mess. Until now I had always reassured myself that I can regnerate the Data.fs for any day in the past month. But it does not seem that is going to help me very much. My log file tells me that an instance of Zope came up on October 22 with one ConflictError and several CorruptedDataErrors. This Zope (or maybe another instance [1]) kept serving requests on the Data.fs for two weeks until the server crashed again. I now think that I will not be able to recover the data from these requests unless I plough through the source code to decipher the ZODB format and then cut and paste the transactions into a usable Data.fs by hand. So I have two questions for the list: 1) Is it, indeed, possible for Zope to keep serving requests from a Data.fs that will not be usable when Zope restarts? 2) How do people sleep at night knowing this to be the case? --- Alastair Footnotes: [1] I think my scripts to automatically start up Zope in event of a crash may have led to two instances of Zope trying to serve the same Data.fs.
