RE: [Zope] LoginManager or exUserFolder

For the CMF? Irrelevant for me. What I really have a problem with is the structure of the default/example methods return a crypted password into Zope, whereas my LoginManager has a userAuthenticate call that jumps into an external method and uses PAM to check the password. Of course, you can *do* it with exUserFolder, but at a glance it seemed the work you'd have to put in would be a bit disproportional. That's a bit disappointing, but understandable. I see CoreSessionTracking is going in (nice). One thing I was also curious about was SSL in ZServer (with client certificate auth support - LDAPfolder integration, hmm, tasty), and possibly even the IE5 (and Mozilla, when the work is done) GSSAPI-compatible authentication support. There's a PyGSS module that would do that nicely, although I doubt it would work behind Apache/PCGI very well... I might take a look at this november-time. Would there be any momentum to get things like this into the core? Well, at least not in the foreseeable future (see the 2.5 roadmap at http://dev.zope.org/Resources/zope_250_plan.html) It appears to be a wildcard at this time. -- Chris McDonough Zope Corporation http://www.zope.org http://www.zope.com "Killing hundreds of birds with thousands of stones"

RE: [Zope] Problems with LocalFS and Zope 2.4.1
by Pieter Claerhout 24 Sep '01

Hi Karsten, the reason why LocalFS is asking for a python15.dll, is because it is using a Python extension, called win32wnet.pyd, which is linked to python 1.5 probably. The easiest way around it is to replace that file zith a python 2.1 version. I think you can even remove it, as it's included as a standard part of Zope 2.4.1. There it lives $ZOPEDIR\bin\lib\win32. Don't worry about the Deprecation Errors as they are of no harm. Cheers, Pieter -----Original Message----- From: Karsten Kraus [mailto:Karsten.Kraus@web.de] Sent: Sunday, September 23, 2001 8:48 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Problems with LocalFS and Zope 2.4.1 Hi list, I have a little problem with LocalFS and Zope 2.4.1 running on MS W2k After installing LocalFS 0.10.1, I get some Deprecation Errors in $ZOPEDIR\lib\python\ts_regex.py and $ZOPEDIR\bin\lib\regsub.py because the use of regsub etc. This seems not to be a problem to me, cause 'til now regsub is still in python 2.1 - or am I wrong? After that an Error-Dialog pops up, because the python15.dll wasn't found... I've got no idea why I should need it? I scanned the code of localfs.py if python 1.5 is called/imported explicitly somewhere, but didn't get far because i am quite new to python/zope. Re: [Zope] copy/paste python product not working

Hi Tom, check for all of your product-classes, if a meta-type is defined and all of these meta-types are declared in the meta_types tuple in the products __init__.py I hope this helps christoph > From: "Tom Cameron" <tom(a)mooball.com> > Subject: [Zope] copy/paste python product not working > > I am building several python products. > > They are all subclassed off: > Implicit,Persistent,RoleManager,Item,PropertyManager > > I find that some products can be cut and pasted with no problem, and some > products return the error: > > Traceback (innermost last): > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in > publish_module > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in > zpublisher_exception_hook > (Object: Traversable) > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply > (Object: manage_pasteObjects) > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in > call_object > (Object: manage_pasteObjects) > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 216, in > manage_pasteObjects > (Object: Traversable) > File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 444, in > _verifyObjectPaste > (Object: Traversable) > Copy Error: (see above) > > I cant yet work out what the reason is. Problems with Mozilla-0.9.3
by aaa＠simplesky.com 24 Sep '01

24 Sep '01

Hi there, Mozilla (0.9.3) seems to behave strangely with zope. Every, let's say, 50 operations (clicks on links, forms, ...) it just hangs and never finishes loading the page. Sometimes it doesn't load the small icons. the behavious don't seem to be triggered by some specific event, it just happens from time to time (it probably happened 50 times today! I had to go back to Netscape 4.x!). And when it happens I have to close the browser. Other than that Mozilla runs without problems on all the websites I've seen, it's a great browser and never crashed on me. Is it possible that the ZServer is sending some strange header or something? Zope too runs with no problems and renders ok on Netscape 4.x I'm running Linux Red Hat 7.1 I'm I the only one who's noticed this? Bye |G|

ATTENTION: Zope.org migration issues
by Martijn Pieters 23 Sep '01

23 Sep '01

Hello to all Members of Zope.org, As some of you may know, we are hard at work building a new Zope.Org website based entirely on the CMF. Because this is going to be a completely new server, content on the current server has to be migrated and converted for the new site. Most of the content on Zope.org can be migrated quite easily. However, there are a few content types in use on Zope.org that cannot or will not be migrated directly or at all. These types will have to be converted to another content type if they are to be migrated to the new site. You only have to worry about content in your own Member Folder, and only if you really want it migrated. Here are the problem types and what to do with the content they represent: - DTML Method: paste the contents into a 'STX Document' for structured text, or 'Formatted Document' for html formatting. DTML scripting will no longer be supperted on the new Zope.org site. - XML Document: XML Document is usually used to act as the source for a end-document. Render the end-document view to HTML and paste the result into a Formatted Document - ZTopic: Unfortunately, there is no alternative for migrating a ZTopic. If you have created a ZTopic in your Member Folder and feel that it provides value to Zope.org visitors let me know and I'll see if we can provide an alternative. -- Martijn Pieters | Software Engineer mailto:mj@zope.com | Zope Corporation http://www.zope.com/ | Creators of Zope http://www.zope.org/ ---------------------------------------------

beehive zope hosting (OT?)
by Jan Lentfer 23 Sep '01

23 Sep '01

Hi all, I know this is kind of off topic, but it may be interesting for some people. The german company beehive stopped hosting Zope!!!! For at least the last 3 month you could read on their website that they were overworking their Zope hosting offers and that they could not accept new customers during this time. Now the website just says "We are no longer offering Zope Hosting Services!" Why? I mean it's been the only company in germany (as far as I know) who were hosting Zope. And I think it is a shame for a company who is publishing books on Zope to just cancel their Zope hosting. Maybe I just missed something (reasons?) about that topic and someone and can point me to that. Right now I feel a little stupid because I bought their book (about 90,- DEM) on Zope, which really doesn't bring you any further than the documention which is freely available on the net does. Sorry, but I am sort of *upset* Jan Jan(a)MountainbikeHQ.de http://www.MountainbikeHQ.de - Your home for DH, DS and CC Mountainbiking
