copy/paste python product not working
by Tom Cameron 24 Sep '01

I am building several python products. They are all subclassed off: Implicit,Persistent,RoleManager,Item,PropertyManager I find that some products can be cut and pasted with no problem, and some products return the error: Traceback (innermost last): File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_pasteObjects) File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_pasteObjects) File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 216, in manage_pasteObjects (Object: Traversable) File C:\ZopeSite\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 444, in _verifyObjectPaste (Object: Traversable) Copy Error: (see above) I cant yet work out what the reason is. The products are all very similar, so it is not obvious to me what the difference is. Any hints would be appreciated TIA Tom

exUserFolder and PAM - caching?
by Mayers, Philip J 24 Sep '01

24 Sep '01

All, Just a recipe for exUserFolder with PAM authentication that works for me. 1) Download the PyPAM module from http://www.pangalactic.org/PyPAM/PyPAM-0.4.2.tar.gz 2) Edit the PAMmodule.c file so it includes the "python2.1/Python.h" rather than the "python1.5/Python.h" 3) Compile it: gcc -DPACKAGE=1 -DVERSION=1 -I. -I. -I/usr/include/python2.1 -I/usr/lib/python2.1/config -fpic -g -O2 -c PAMmodule.c gcc -shared -o PAMmodule.so PAMmodule.o -lpam -lpam_misc 4) Make sure it works by running python2.1 and "import PAM" 5) Copy PAMmodule.so to /usr/local/Zope/lib/python 6) Create the file /usr/local/Zope/Extensions/passwd.py with the contents: import PAM class Checker: def __init__(self,username,password): self.username = username self.password = password def pam_conv(self, auth, query_list): resp = [] for query, type in query_list: if type == PAM.PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_ON: resp.append((self.username, 0)) elif type == PAM.PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF: resp.append((self.password, 0)) elif type == PAM.PAM_PROMPT_ERROR_MSG or type == PAM.PAM_PROMPT_TEXT_INFO: resp.append(('', 0)); else: return None return resp def check(username, password): ckr = Checker(username, password) auth = PAM.pam() auth.start('zope') auth.set_item(PAM.PAM_USER, username) auth.set_item(PAM.PAM_CONV, ckr.pam_conv) try: auth.authenticate() except PAM.error, (resp, code): return (1, 'No: (%s)' % resp) except: return (1, 'Internal error') else: return (0, 'Yes') 7) Download and install exUserFolder>=0.7.2 8) cd /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/Products/exUserFolder/usAuthSource 9) vim usAuthSource.py <comment out line 134> <uncomment lines 136-139> <ESC>!wq 10) Create a test folder 11) Put an exUserFolder in it with a Null property source, a Null membership source, and a user-supplied auth source 12) In the managment interface, go into the exUserFolder, then contents, then usAuthSource 13) Create an external method called "check_password", module "password", function "check" 14) Create the following PythonScripts: x_usGetUsers: <no parameters> us = [] us.append({'username':'uname','password':'x','roles':['role1','role2']}) return us x_usListOneUser: username return [{'username':'uname','password':'x','roles':['role1','role2']},] # return [] for no such user x_usListUsers: <no parameters> return [ {'username':'uname',}, {'username':'uname2',}, {'username':'uname3',} ] x_usRemoteAuthMethod: username, password code, msg = container.check_password(username,password) if code: return None return 1 Clearly the data returned from these methods can be from SQL/LDAP queries or whatever. Beware - the usRemoteAuthMethod in particular will need a proxy role that can run the external method, since the logging in user doesn't have any roles... 14a) Give the appropriate proxy roles to each python script so it can be executed in the context of a logging-in user 15) Create the /etc/pam.d/zope file with the appropriate PAM configuration 16) Remove permissions for Anonymous on the folder so that you have to login 17) Copy your test folder (parent of the exUserFolder) to somewhere safe in case it's going to go wrong 18) Batch rename the x_* method to remove the leading x_ 19) Try logging in - watch /var/log/messages to see the output of the PAM module The one problem is that the usRemoteAuthMethod gets called on every page request, it isn't cached, which means for remote auth methods (e.g. Kerberos/LDAP/SMB PAM modules) the load might be quite high. Any ideas, let me know. Python product consisting of few python classes
by Petr Knapek 24 Sep '01

24 Sep '01

Hi Zopists, I have problem with my python product for Zope 2.4.1. I have a product which consists of few my own python classes - source codes are put in product folder. Some of these classes need to be publishable via ZPublisher and this is problem. In one of them the DTMLFiles are bad mapped at dtml files (I do not know where it is overriden). Does anybody know, how to write correct code for python products into Zope which consists of a lot of python classes where some of them have to be publishable? PermissionDalmatin.py : - this is publishable class import Globals from Globals import DTMLFile from Acquisition import Implicit from AccessControl.Role import RoleManager class PermissionDalmatin(Implicit, RoleManager): manage_permissionsISNGForm = DTMLFile('perm/permissions', globals()) def getRoleOfPerm(self, perm='View'): Globals.InitializeClass(PermissionDalmatin) DalmatinProduct.py : -this is my python product implementation import time, DateTime, string, urllib import Globals from Globals import DTMLFile, MessageDialog from OFS.Folder import Folder #Zope Folder object #from Products.PermissionManager.PermissionDalmatin import PermissionDalmatin from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo from Dalmatin import Dalmatin # Dalmatin's interface from Products.Dalmatin.GUI import GUIContainer # default GUI of container object from Products.Dalmatin.BaseObject import BaseObject # base functionality of all Dalmatin's objects from Products.Dalmatin import Core # Dalmatin's core library from Products.Dalmatin.PermissionDalmatin import PermissionDalmatin class DalmatinProduct(Folder, PermissionDalmatin, GUIContainer, BaseObject): manage_editISNGForm = DTMLFile('dtml/edit', globals()) def manage_edit(self, title, key_words, REQUEST=None): Globals.InitializeClass(Dalmatin) And when I call manage_permissionsISNGForm of DalmatinProduct instance this error is raised: 2001-09-24T16:15:40 PROBLEM(100) ZPublisher DTML file '/usr/home/knapek/apps/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/Products/Dalmatin/dtml/permissions.dtml' could not be read But permissions.dtml is well located in 'DalmatinProduct'/perm/ as you can see above. DalmatinProduct instance tries to find it in 'DalmatinProduct'/dtml/ where DTMLFiles for DalmatinProduct class are located. Please, help me, I can't see bug. if we have form <form name="pform" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="url/GetUgClones" method=POST> <input type=file name="filename"> <input type=submit value="Create Clone List"> </form> and we can get this file from dtml GetUgClones which can call a py function to process the file. My question is if there a way to print out or display whole real thing which is uploaded from client. like POST ... Content-Type: ... Content-Length: 222 ----------------------------12345678 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="file"; filename="filename" file body ----------------------------12345678-- My real question is how to upload a file which is not at hard drive, it is in the memory. I know how POST text data to server using python: import httplib, urllib body = urllib.urlencode({'spam':1,'eggs':2,'bacon':0}) h = httplib.HTTP("url") h.putrequest("POST", "http://url/CGAP/Reagents/UploadFile") h.putheader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") h.putheader("Content-length", "%d" % len(body)) h.putheader('Accept', 'text/plain') h.putheader('Host', 'url') h.endheaders() h.send(body) reply, msg, hdrs = h.getreply() print reply data = h.getfile().read() # get the raw HTML print data but I don't know how to POST a file to Zope. I did it at other server before. Thanks! Kotien Wu

Hello ZOPE cracks, I have a new question for you. I started with ZOPE two weeks ago and I hope you´ll forgive me this question. Is it poosible to set up a nemespace variable with REQUEST.set('example') in one dtml-method and access it in another. For exapmle a login screen and a UI it doesn´t matter what. I´ve bought me a ZOPE book but I found out not so much. Thanks Florian Schuler

HELP! Trying to download a 8 MB file from zope - nothing happens.
by Heimo Laukkanen 24 Sep '01

24 Sep '01

Hi all, I am now really confused and need help. I have a 8 megabyte file in a Zope on a Linux box. Zope sits behind Apache and has a reasonable timeout and size limits to allow the transfer. But when I try to download the file from zope, something strange happens. Zope starts to hog processor power and memory, but nothing happens. Even logfiles are empty. Please give me a hand if you can. -huima

Allaire's HomeSite is a great external editing tool. An archive search of 'Homesite' will show all the pluses that have been listed here previously. Hello List, I´ve started with ZOPE not long ago and I´m a little bit angry yet. Is there a possibility to edit ZOPE-Code out of a browser for example in a texteditor like UE ? I hate the browser editing. I think is isn´t so and asking don´t cost anything :-). Florian
