So I changed the line to if sys.platform == "linux2": # Red Hat and it got past the Python.h error - however it then errored with In file included from _mysql.c:31: /opt/Python-2.1.1/Include/Python.h:24: config.h: No such file or directory In file included from /opt/Python-2.1.1/Include/Python.h:54, from _mysql.c:31: /opt/Python-2.1.1/Include/pyport.h:4: config.h: No such file or directory In file included from /opt/Python-2.1.1/Include/Python.h:54, from _mysql.c:31: /opt/Python-2.1.1/Include/pyport.h:404: #error "could not set LONG_MAX in pypor" error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 Any ideas ? Yes, you have completed only half of the installation process. You also have to compile and install PoPy. PoPy is a C-extension module for python that provides the actual adapter that ZPoPyDA uses to talk to PostgreSQL. Note: You did not say how you installed your Zope or your python. It makes a difference. The PoPymodule.so must be placed somewhere in the PYTHON_PATH used by your zope. Source installed zope's generally do not modify the system PYTHONPATH, and it would usually go in /usr/local/lib/python2.1/site-packages, or something like that. Binary installed Zope's generally DO modify the system PYTHON_PATH. (But I forget exactly how; I think there is a python directory in your $ZOPEHOME). As to pyschopg being actively revised... Well, so is PoPy. The least release of PoPy is what, 3 weeks old? If your using the ZMySQL database adapter, start your conection string with a "-". This disables transactions :-) so -database(a)server.domain username password ..... Putting a space after the - caused problems... Anyway hope that helps ;-) ChrisK _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

No, you need to have the Python development package installed: python-devel or python2-devel (if you are using RPMs). It says this right at the top of the README you say you don't want to know why you have to read. > Aaagh. You don't have the required development package needed to compile. Once you have solved that problem, you can run setup.py bdist_rpm to make an RPM for your platform, whatever that might be.

fastcgi and site root
by Behrens Matt - Grand Rapids 21 Sep '01

21 Sep '01

Before I start my tale of woe, I've been all over zope.org and the mailing list archives, but I may have missed something. Please borrow my clue-by-four to whack me over the head with if I did. :-) Solaris 8, Apache 1.3.12 (Oracle's, but it really doesn't matter), Zope 2.4.1 (binary Solaris distro), mod_fastcgi 2.2.10 compiled as a DSO. The following is included into my httpd.conf: ---- LoadModule fastcgi_module /oracle/local/Apache/libexec/mod_fastcgi.so AddModule mod_fastcgi.c RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/(.*) /Zope/$1 [PT] FastCgiIpcDir /tmp FastCgiExternalServer /oracle/product/8i/Apache/Apache/htdocs/Zope \ -socket zope.soc -pass-header Authorization <Location /Zope> Options ExecCGI SetHandler fastcgi-script </Location> ---- And, of course, z2.py gets the -F /tmp/zope.soc flag. Everything is swell with the exception of one teeny tiny problem. "Zope" keeps finding its way into the URI when I use absolute_url. This is a single server and I want Zope handling the site root. I have shuffled directives around, tried the duplicate RewriteRule that I saw on one howto... no effect. (Well, some of my shuffling broke it totally.) :-) I know of the empty folder acq workaround (empty folder called "Zope" into the root), but there must be a way to make this work without such hackery... -- Matt Behrens <matt.behrens(a)kohler.com> System Analyst, Baker Furniture

How to display the owner of an object?
by Jan Lentfer 21 Sep '01

21 Sep '01

Hi all, I know that this has been a topic on this list before, but what I found in the archives didn't really bring me any further. All I want to do ist to display the owner of an object. Is there a way to do this easily? Basically what I want to do is something like this: <dtml-in "Catalog(sort_on='sort_date', sort_order='reverse')"> <dtml-var id_or_title> <dtml-var owner> # Is there something like this?? </dtm-in> Is there a predefined variable for the owner of the object?
