has_permission for arbitrary user
by Mark N. Gibson 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

I'm basically trying to do this: <dtml-if expr="acl_users.getUser('someuser').has_permission('Change DTML Document',this())"> Yes <dtml-else> No </dtml-if> Unfortunately, has_permissions seems to be implented to call has_permission on the currently logged in user; i.e. AUTHENTICATED_USER. So the question is, how do I determine if an arbitrary user (not the logged in user) has a certain permission on a certain object? Thanks, Mark --- Mark Gibson Kaivo, Inc. mark(a)kaivo.com

Seeking tips for persistence in external methods
by Oliver Bleutgen 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

Hi, I'm having a tree structure which is defined in a flat file via simple x.y.z tokens. I wrote an external method which gets passed such a token, parses this file and returns a dummy method in order to be able to represent this hierachy in zope via the tree tag. Now, this works, but naturally takes very long because it parses the file with every invocation from the tree tag. Now I can pre-build the whole tree out of objects, but the question is how to store that tree. I don't want to use zopes ZODB, because the tree changes potentially every hour. As I found out, pickling from an external method seems to be not an option. anybody any ideas? TIA, oliver

Re: [Zope] Can I change the default document to index.html???
by Walter Miller 07 Sep '01

Oleg, Sorry, I can't seem to find the How-To that descibes how to change the default document without resorting to the <dtml-var default.html> work-around that i mentioned in my previous post. That work-around doesn't change the fact that everytime a new folder is created with an associated public interface, the default document created is index_html. Join/Leave versions without management screen?
by Etienne Labuschagne 07 Sep '01

Hi there, I want to create an url for my "super" users so that they can watch the current edit versions edits so far. <a href="CurrentEditVersion/enter">Enter edit version</a> <a href="CurrentEditVersion/leave">Leave edit version</a> should work, but because it is redirected to a management screen (which I don't want the user to see.) How can I let a user log into a versioned site without redirecting to the management screen? The only extra right the user should have above the Anonymous user is join/leave versions. Thanks Etienne
