Extending Document for DocumentLibrary product
by Frank Stephan 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

What would you suggest, if I want to store documents with more props than the default. Should I customize the whole product or should I subclass DocumentFile? If I subclass it, would I inherit the methods (e.g. for editing), too? Can I extend these methods in my new class or do I have to overwrite the inherited ones completely. TIA Frank

DocumentLibrary

Hi, as the DocumentLibrary is almost perfectly fits me needs, I would like to know if anyone has managed to customize it, so that it stores the files externally and not in ZODB. TIA Frank

RE: loginManager rackList is empty, but what about UserSource?
by Jean Lagarde 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

Replying to my own question. LoginManager redefines getItem to look into its userSourcesList rather than into the rackList, as in the specialist class. So it seems to me that loginManager is not following the Liskov substitution principle (LSP) by not equivalently redefining newItem. So for now, I have fixed my problem by also redefining newItem in loginManager, substituting userSourcesList[0] for rackList[0]. Seems to me that would be a desirable behavior of loginManager. Another solution, which would also satisfy LSP without redefining newItem, would be to have rackList return the contents of userSourcesList rather than an empty list (I haven't looked into why rackList is empty in the first place in loginManager). Again, I think that would be a consistent interpretation based on the behavior of getItem as implemented in loginManager. Can I change the default document to index.html???
by Walter Miller 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

Has anyone figured out how to change the default document from index_html to index.html? To use products like Dreamweaver which only recognizes Zope objects with exstensions, the only recommendation I've found is to put the code in a DTML document called index.html and put "<dtml-var index.html>" in a DTML method called index_html. SiteRoot locked out, how do you unlock Siteroot?
by Trevor Toenjes 07 Sep '01

07 Sep '01

I set-up Base wrong and am now locked out. According to a recent post and fritz's how-to, there seems to be a way to unlock or delete SiteRoot thru FTP. Or is there another way besides FTP? Where do I find it in Zope? Does this save all my content? Thanks, -Trevor (slightly paniced) *****OLD POST********** Even if you don't use FTP it may be useful to keep it running. For example it's possible to get locked out of the management interface because of a problem with a siteroot (if you're using siteroots). It's great to be able to ftp in and delete the siteroot. Then re-add it. ***********************

If I understand correctly, using you suggestion would result in the query returning all items in the catalog whose title attribute matches the string "search". I want to be able to return all items whose title attribute matches the variable 'search' which is in the request (i.e. if the url ends like this: results_py?search=portrait , portrait is the string that is searched for in the 'title' index). Am I misunderstanding things still? cheers tim
