Tree hierarchy problem with database
by juangar＠dei.inf.uc3m.es 06 Sep '01

Hi, I have a problem with the tree tag. I want to show in the page a hierarchy with codes of a database. I've read in this page: http://www.zope.org/Members/anthony/tree-coding-tricks an example of how to do it but it doesn't work in my case. In the example Anthony creates this SQL method: SELECT objectid, objectname FROM myobjects WHERE <dtml-sqltest parentid type=int> and this is the code of the DTML Method: <dtml-let objectid="0"> <dtml-tree id=objectid branches_expr="child_lookup(parentid=objectid)"> <b><dtml-var objectname></b> <dtml-var objectid> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> I have created an SQL method like in the example called lrecursos (which works properly), and this is my DTML Method: <dtml-let objectid="'0'"> <dtml-tree id=objectid branches_expr="lrecusos(codigo_recurso=objectid)"> <b><dtml-var codigo_recurso></b> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> The problem is that it does not show the tree properly, it only shows the tree properly at the begining, when I want to expand the tree it shows in the next levels of the tree the elements that are at the highest level. What can I do? I think that the problem is that objectid does not change. bye, bye ...

loginManager rackList is empty, but what about UserSource?
by Jean Lagarde 06 Sep '01

Hi folks, I am slowly, very slowly, getting comfortable with loginManager, but I've hit yet another snag, and I am too tired today so I'll just ask and hope for a kind soul to hep me out. ^ | -------- See, I am tired! I am in the process of adapting the example provided by dlpierson (thanks by the way), so I am using a skinscript and an external database (MySQL). In coming up with form based addition of new users, I figured might as well use newItem and the skinscript rather than calling SQL methods directly. But newItem complains, and I found out that the problem is that rackList is empty, but isn't UserSource a rack? Why isn't it in rackList? (In case someone asks, yes I do have a UserSource in the LoginManager, and it seems to work OK otherwise). Cheers, Jean

RE: [Zope] Seeking tips for persistence in external methods

I've never tried it, but you might try using ZODB in standalone mode. Your external method could create a separate ZODB and use that. Any time your text file changes, create a new ZODB and ditch the old one. Just a though. Other idea: packless dbm storage. > -----Original Message----- > From: Oliver Bleutgen [mailto:myzope@gmx.net] > Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2001 3:31 PM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: RE: [Zope] Seeking tips for persistence in external methods > > > > Try this: > > Open file. > > Read file. > > Calculate MD5sum > > If md5 has changed, reparse the file. > > If not, show a cached tree. > > You'll have to come up with your own method for caching the tree. > > Woa, fast answer, thanks Troy, > but I fear I wasn't clear enough. Try this: Open file. Read file. Calculate MD5sum If md5 has changed, reparse the file. If not, show a cached tree. You'll have to come up with your own method for caching the tree. ExtFile on Zope 2.4.0
by Frank Stephan 06 Sep '01

06 Sep '01

Hi, is there any info on 'ExtFile with Zope 2.4.0' On the product page it says: Note: ExtFile currently does not support Zope 2.4.x because of a bug / change-of-behaviour in this Zope version. See collector item #2442 for more info. I'm currently working on a fix for ExtFile, so stay tuned... Unfortunately, the link to item 2442 currently does not work. TIA Frank

I have no problem figuring out when to cache (I leech the flat file from a server). I don't know how to store an object tree from an external method like I would do with pickle/cpickle in pure python. cheers, oliver

converting string to lower case
by Hamzat kamal 06 Sep '01

06 Sep '01

Hi, Can anybody tell me the DTML function that will convert (force) a string (or characters in a string) in upper case to lower case. I designed a form where i want user to enter a string value which i later used as a var name in my DTML method. I need this function because I don't want to tell my users that they should typed in lower case. Thanks in anticipation for your support. Hamzat kamal Dnet Systems Ltd. http://www.dnetsystems.net

Block IP address in Z-Server?
by Kevin Lewandowski 06 Sep '01

06 Sep '01

Hi, is it possible to ban an ip address from accessing Zope? (similar to Apache's "Deny from" directive). There are some idiots doing ridiculous amounts of spidering against my site and I want to block their IP's. If not does anyone know of an os-level way to block it? (I'm running linux) thanks a lot -Kevin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! ZOBD performance using large documents
by Frank Stephan 06 Sep '01

06 Sep '01

Hi, I have to build an application where rather big documents have to be managed. Now tried to upload a 5meg file to ZODB locally on my machine (PIII 800, 512MB, W2K) and I had to wait 2 min and 16 seconds. Ok, for users that only have a slow dialup connection this would be no problem, but I wonder, how ZODB will behave, if there are a lot of these documents to store. Are there better alternatives? I have to admit I like storing files in ZODB as I do not have to maintain which file belongs to which Zope document. TIA Frank

Problem modifying TinyTable data
by joel 06 Sep '01

06 Sep '01

Hi, I'm having a problem inserting data into a TinyTable. As a simple test, I created the table, clicked on it to edit it's properties, then typed an entry in the Data box. After that, I hit the change button. Nothing happened at that point. Naturally, I hit the change button again (I *could* have missed it ;-). Nothing, again. Any ideas on what could be causing this? My apologies if it's a stupid question... I'm new to Zope, but it seems that this should just work... I'm running Zope 2.4.1, with TinyTable Beta 2. (I also tried using TinyTablePlus-0.9.tgz, in case I originally got the wrong thing). It does the same thing in Konqueror and Mozilla. I'm stumped. :-( --Joel
