hello folks, i'm new to zope, and i've been trying to get up to speed with the CMF. i have a query about metadata (and some other more general queries below). when i create a CMF site and view it, i can use the portal controls to 'join' (create a user) and then, having authenticated myself as that user, create documents, news items, images etc. in my member area. when i do so i am invited to provide metadata. when i view the members folder through the zope interface, i can click on documents and news items to be presented with a 'dublin core' tab, through which i can examine the metadata for that item. however, images appear to be the same as 'standard' zope images, with no dublin core tab. but the metadata is somewhere! i can still view and edit it through the portal interface. so where is it stored?!?!?! also, images seem to make the talkback interface misbehave. consider the following setup: http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/index_html (document) http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/images (folder) http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/images/photo_of_me (image) i configure the system to allow talkback on documents and images, and then create some nested comments on index_html and photo_of_me. the link to the first talkback comment on index_html has the form: http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/index_html/talkback/999212237 and the plus next to it used to expand the tree has the form: http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/index_html?tree-c=eJyLVneEAq- sZFt1HQUEvyLUVj0WAIdvCFk#AAAAAAAAJxU= but wheras the link to the first talkback comment on photo_of_me has the same form: http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/images/photo_of_me/talkback/99… 04 its tree expansion link has the form: http://localhost:8080/cmftest/Members/hamish/images/photo_of_me/photo_of_me? tree-e=eJyLVneEAq8CV1t1HQUEv8zRVj0WAIU7CCs#AAAAAAAAJvA= and clicking on that plus sign just shows me the image, i.e., as if the url had been .../images/photo_of_me or .../images/photo_of_me/photo_of_me. okay, just one more query now! this one may be a bug. - i authenticate myself as 'user_u' (manager/owner), and create 'folder_f'. - inside 'folder_f' i create 'folder_g', inside which i create 'folder_h', inside which i create 'document_d'. - inside 'folder_h' i also create an acl_users folder and add a new user, 'user_v' (manager/owner). - i authenticate myself as 'user_v' and take ownership of 'document_d'. - i authenticate myself as 'user_u', cut 'folder_h' and paste it into 'folder_f'. - 'folder_g' is now empty and can be deleted. - i authenticate myself as 'user_v' and examine 'document_d'. i am invited to take ownership of said document (because i am 'user_v (folder_f/folder_h/acl_users)', and it is owned by 'user_v (folder_f/folder_g/folder_h/acl_users)'). is this the desired behaviour? i appreciate that had i simply deleted 'user_v', 'document_d' would still be owned by that user, but somehow it seems wrong that the same estrangement can be achieved by a more powerful user moving a subfolder (e.g., when trying to reorganise the layout of several websites on a single zope server). thanks, hamish -- Get your firstname@lastname email for FREE at http://Nameplanet.com/?su

Simple script to facilitate using Vim with Zope

Hi all (Vim list: apologies if any interested parties are already on the Zope list .. ) Here's a reallllllly simple script to facilitate filesystem editing of Zope content with Vim. It uses python to cobble together ncftp and bash. Basically how it works is this: recursively checkout the whole toot using FTP or WebDAV or whatever works for you. This may require some bending over backwards as Specialists and Racks and so forth all have their little idiosyncrasies in how they come down to the filesystem (for example, some you can cd into, but they don't get picked up by an ftp 'get -R' command). Anyway, now edit with Vim. When you write, Vim leaves behind a '...~' backup file. Now run the below script from the root of your local dir. It puts only the changed files and renames the backups to '...#put'. Netscape 4.7x Redirect problem

Hello All... Trying to use a RESPONSE.redirect('menu') on an intermediate page for handling logins. After userid and password and submit, the loginCheck page does its thing. If really a valid user, the code above redirects to the main menu page. Works great in IE but I get "Document contains no data" for Netscape. Has to be the redirect because if I comment it out, the other parts of the page display correctly. Any ideas?? Thanks Allen

CalendarTag error

Hello I have this calendar in my CMF site. And it has worked so far untill we upgraded our Zope. The error is this: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'expr_globals' is not defined Looking into the code for the CalendarTag I see there is a variable named expr_globals. It is passed as an argument to an Eval function. Now ... I guess it worked before because we were using and older python version. Anyone who knows how to get this to work with python 2.1 ?? looping through

Hello everyone, I also sent this to the zope-db list, which I found from the Zope News...but I thought I'd go ahead and post this here as well, since the readership on that list is likely to be quite small since it's a new list, with only 6 messages on it... I'm working on a gradebook program for (using an SQL db adapter) teachers, and at this point I want a teacher to be able to add an assignment. I've got a basic table that has the student name, id, assignment, and grade, with a row for each assignment/grade for each student. I'm at the point now where the teacher adds a new assignment and I want <something> to go through the table, and create new rows for each student, but with a null value for the grade which will be entered later. How do I do that? I'm thinking of just going through the table with a SELECT DISTINCT student-id clause (that way I only create the rows once for each student assignment), but that seems like two steps, one for the SELECT DISTINCT, but then adding new rows based on that query is baffling me. One note on the file I just sent: It can be used for Homesite or for ColdFusion Studio. Tommy uses the Studio so all the path settings are set accordingly. They will need to be adjusted to be usable for HomeSite. Small issue but wanted it to be clear.
