In a dtml document, if i use <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.hasRole('xyz')"> i received a 1 for any value of xyz if i use the syntax <dtml-var expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role('xyz')"> i will receive 0 if i'm not a member of the group and 1 if i am a member, which is the correct behavior Which syntax is the correct one? Any explanation why the first syntax is not correct? Thanks

RE: [Zope] zclass add method -- how to get at properties?
by Lee Harr 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hi, Thanks for the links. I had read those and it still does not answer my question. I have a product called abc. Inside that product I have a ZClass called GGG and a method GGG_addForm which was created when I created the ZClass. Inside the ZClass there is a propertysheet called Basic and two properties s_choices which is type lines and s which is a selection (linked to s_choices). What I want to know is, from GGG_addForm, how do I get s_choices? I try <dtml-var s_choices> but clearly that won't work. The instance is not yet created. I need to get the property from the class definition somehow. I am also trying <dtml-var "Control_Panel.Products.abc..."> but that is ugly and doesn't work either. >Hello, >here's a nice link about ZClass-properties-> >http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/zProperties >and at the end there are more links or search on zope.org for >zclass. >Short description of the way: >create product->create zclass-> create property-sheet->change manage_add >method I am not sure what method you are talking about here. The method that my add form will call? or manage_addProduct? or another one? >->build form (with your html-select-box)->build add_method ->that's all >With a little routine , you manage to follow this steps and build a basic >class with no layout in >1 hour. > :) maybe. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

RE: [Zope] Version Control Question
by Meilicke, Scott 30 Aug '01

The way we manage our non-zope internet site is to have three environments: dev, staging (quality) and production. Developers do unit development and testing on their own work stations, and migrate that to the development server to ensure everyone's code plays nice. Then a migration engineer moves that to staging at planned intervals. Staging is tested, and when all is good, staging is moved to production. That said, for our Intranet we'll probably just have developer workstations, an integration/staging/quality server, and production. The plan is when we go for a release, we'll freeze staging, have our developers work on their own boxes, then migrate to production. The reason is zope's versioning and ability to import/export portions of a site makes recovering from errors and duplicating environments (or just portions) really easy. Scott ps - this is a non HTML mail formatted list. -----Original Message----- From: ken bolton [mailto:kbolton@sputnik7.com] Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 8:16 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Version Control Question Hi guys, I posed this question to the fellows at NYZUG yesterday evening, and they suggested that I post it here, point blank. We want to use version control on our site. Without sparking a religious war, what do you recommend for syncing a development environment, a quality assurance environment, and a production environment? Is the built-in Zope Version package enough? Should we use that in conjunction with ZEO? Is ZEO on its own enough? Should we use CVS for Product maintainance? ZSyncer? Initially, I thought the Zope Version would be enough, do your work in a version, have the tester start working in the version when the developer was done, and then the tester saves the work when everything is good to go. I've been told (by non-Zopistas, and even anti-Zopers) that we need to have three environments. How would you go about implementing a system to please nervous project managers? cheers, ken

REQUEST problems
by jonathan 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hi All, I am reletively new to zope, and in particular to products, so please accept my appologies if I am asking silly questions. I have in fact nearly completed my first ever product. The product was developed on a installation of Zope 2.4.0 and is giving errors when used with Zope 2.3.2. The error only occours when a method of the product is called directly from the web. The error does not occour when a dtml method is called that contains a reference to a method of the product. The error itself is that it can not find the object AUTHENTICATED_USER. Printing out REQUEST confirms this. There is no AUTHENTICATED_USER. Again this only happens when calling a method of the product directly. e.g. browsing http://zope-site/product/method generates an error but http://zope-site/dtml_method does not, even when dtml_method contains <dtml-var expr="product.method(REQUEST)"> Is this some sort of bug that was fixed in Zope 2.4.0 or has the way things should be done changed between versions? tia.. Record a new user with python script
by Gilles Lenfant 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hi, I got a "join" page where a new user creates its nick/password. A python script controls this and records if successful in acl_users of the current folder with "inscrit" local role. But there seems to be a problem with the password... because I can't read the page protected for the "inscrit" role using the newly created user. It works again when changing the password in the ZMI. Here's my code... # start form = context.REQUEST.form context.REQUEST.set('name', form['newusername']) context.REQUEST.set('password', form['newpassword']) context.REQUEST.set('confirm', form['cnewpassword']) context.REQUEST.set('roles', ['inscrit']) context.acl_users.manage_users(submit='Add', REQUEST=context.REQUEST) # go to page where only 'inscrit' and 'Manager/Owner' users have view permission return context.apres_id(context, context.REQUEST) Any clue ? Thanks in advance ! --Gilles Lenfant

Trees
by paul dunbar 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

I have a tree implented on a website and am trying to count the number of nodes or children each visible branch has without you actually having to open the branch.i would like to be able to show the number of documents the branch has underneath it.my problem is that when i search the catalog for say meta-type 'material',i get the same result on all the branches.this is because i cannot distinguish between 'material' that is a child of the branch, and material under all branches.the catalog has many indexes, one being the meta-type which refers to the type of document.i need a parameter in the catalog that will exclude children found that are not connected to the relevant branch.another way i thought of doing this would be to use the tree-level attribute.i am new to zope and dtml so any help would be greatly appreciated and please excuse me if i have not explained my problem properly,if anyone needs a point clarified ,i will do so. paul dunbar. _____________________________________ Get your free E-mail at http://www.ireland.com

DTML/python syntax problem
by Andreas Wandel 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hi all, I have to change the string contained in _['sequence-item'] by removing the character "*" at the end of the string. There should be a solution by using a combination of _.string.replace and _.string.strip, but I need a hint how to put them together. Thankx Andreas

Adding users via external database
by Montagne, Michael 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

This is my code for adding a ZClass to the ZUser folder product. I'm trying to walk through a recordset returned by CurrEmployees and add each one to the database. I can successfully add a user if I take all the database references out and plug in values manually, but when the <dtml-in CurrEmployees> tag is involved I get an attribute error. I'm afraid I've committed some sort of namespace goofup but I'm stuck. I know user_add works because I can plug in numbers, and I know I'm getting values because I print it out at the bottom. What could it be.....? <dtml-with database> <dtml-in CurrEmployees> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('changed','no')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('added','no')"> <dtml-comment><dtml-call "REQUEST.set('users_in_folder',acl_users.getUsers())"></dtml-comment> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('name',Login)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('password',password)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('confirm',password)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('staffid',StaffId)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('roles',['Staff'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('domains',[])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('email','none')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('submit','Add')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id',Login)"> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['ZUserProduct']"> <dtml-call "user_add(_.None, _, NoRedir=1)"> </dtml-with> <p><dtml-var Login> added</p> </dtml-in> </dtml-with>
