Current item in a dtml tree
by Tommy Johnson 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

How do I get the current object from a dtml tree? With dtml-in, I can use sequence-item, but that doesn't work with the tree. The situation is that I'm using an external method to return a list, and then I want to do certain actions with the current object in the list. Any ideas? newbie file upload question??
by Michael 30 Aug '01

Hi, I'm pretty new to Zope and from what I've seen so far, I really like it. My question is, is there any way to upload a file using File Attach, and have Z-catalog automatically index it? -- Michael Lewis Email: mlewis(a)exasource.com "Linux - The final solution"

RESPONSE.write()
by Paz 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hello again, Its gonna be a flurry from me today. I've successfully used the pragma alogn with RESPONSE.write() to stream a page to a browser.... I have two questions: 1) I haven't done more work outside of MSIE 6. Is this method of streaming working on all broswers? 2) It seems that if you write a page, you have to write 100% no less of the page otherwise the Wrtie() masks any normal html. Is there a way to do both? i.e Use RESPONSE-write() to immeditaley put up you interface, and then have the content come from normal html. Thanks Paz

passing ZPublisher.HTTPRequest.FileUpload instance between forms
by Giuseppe Bonelli 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hello to all, Is it possible to share a single instance of a ZPublisher.HTTPRequest.FileUpload object between different forms ? In other words: I have a file upload form where I load a file in the standard way whit a <input type="file" ...> I then process the file in an external method (for ex. I check for the file type, and if it is a PDF I use pdfinfo to extract the properties embedded in the file) I then call a second form which has some field eventually percompiled from the pdf properties returned from the external method This second form must upload the file (as an extDocument), without the need of another <input type="file" ...>? The above arrangement works only if I use a <input type="file" ...> in both form, which imply loading the file twice and having the users searching for the same file twice. Any suggestion ? TIA, --peppo

I get an error when calling "parent.__init__(self)"
by Max Møller Rasmussen 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

I have a class, which contains the logic of a product. class msgList: def __init__(self): self.msgDict = {} self._newId = 0 Then I have another class which takes care of the more Zope related tasks. class mxm_Discuss(SimpleItem.SimpleItem, msgList): def __init__(self, id, title): "Inits the product with default values" self.id = id self.title = title msgList.__init__(self) <-------- Line 22 But when I try to instantiate it in Zope I get an error: "Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unbound method __init__() must be called with instance as first argument" Usually this error comes when I forget 'self' in a method. I cannot see what causes it here though. Has anybody got a clue? It's probably something simple I have overlooked. regards Max M Traceback (innermost last): File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 226, in zpublisher_exception_hook File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_addmxm_DiscussAction) File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_addmxm_DiscussAction) File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\Products\mxm_Discuss\mxm_Discuss.py, line 43, in manage_addmxm_DiscussAction File C:\zope\zope240\lib\python\Products\mxm_Discuss\mxm_Discuss.py, line 22, in __init__ (Object: mxm_discuss) TypeError: (see above) - Nørgård Mikkelsen a/s - www.normik.dk - Vandværksvej 18 - DK 5000 Odense C Tlf (+45) 66 14 14 80 - Fax (+45) 66 14 19 43 Max M - Direkte (+45) 63 14 47 15

lock entry while editing
by m.bickel＠gbo-ag.de 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Hi, I use the MetaPublisher-Product and have the problem, that if different users edit the same entry, there will be a conflict: the changes from one user will be overwritten by the second. Has anyone a solution to lock an entry until the edit-form is used by someone? Can Zope do this (like Versions) ? Michael

RE: [Zope] Netscape 4.7x Redirect problem
by Schmidt, Allen J. 30 Aug '01

30 Aug '01

Great. Thanks! I will try your suggestions. For now I have just replaced the redirects with meta refresh tags in the same location. Works well so far, although I am sure it may cause some problems somewhere since it is not in the HEAD but in several places on the same page depending on where the logic stops. I should be able to try your full URL suggestion today. Thanks Allen -----Original Message----- From: Peter Bengtsson [mailto:mail@peterbe.com] Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 9:22 AM To: Schmidt, Allen J.; zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Netscape 4.7x Redirect problem Don't ask me why but people in the community keep repeating that you should pass a full url to the redirect() method. Do instead: RESPONSE.redirect('http://www.guugle.com/Allen/menu') ...or... RESPONSE.redirect(menu.absolute_url()) Again, don't ask me why but adding lock=1 as a parameter to the redirect() has helped me once or twice. I don't know how it works but it makes sure that after a success full redirect the addressbar shows what you expect it to show.
