Dynamically generating text graphics in Zope

I'm trying to create a site for our intranet that will create text graphics that people can use to construct a web site ala Cooltext. For ex, I want to be able to let someone enter five different menu names, pick one of several color schemes/textures, and then spit back the graphics so they can copy them. Two questions: 1) Has anyone done this before, and if so how did they do it (and do you have code you'd be willing to share)? 2) If not, any suggestions on how to get started? Obviously, gimp on Windows is one solution, but I'm a bit daunted at the prospect of taking it on. Are there any apps designed for Windows that can be run dynamically w/o driving you crazy? My Zope site will be running on an NT box, so linux-only software isn't an option. Thanks, Anders

Access help

Can anybody help, I'm trying to make a drop-down list of folders a user has access to add files to. However I only way I can get it to work is give each person access to contents permissions on all folders. So far it won't let the actually in the folder but it shows it to them. What __init__.py? If you're talking about in PIL? Version 1.1.2 of PIL comes with one in the PIL directory, so it should be fine. If you're talking about my hotfix, just tar -zxvf ImageTag_Hotfix-0.1.tgz in your Products directory. The key thing is making that symbolic link. Postgresql DB Connector and string problem

Hello everyone.... I've got the PoPy db adapter connected to a postgresql database, and I'm following the example in the zope book with psql rather than gadfly. I'm able to create the tables and such, but when I submit a query on the table with the two strings, I get an error: Z SQL Method at /GradeBook/hire_employee Error, exceptions.NameError: string SQL used: Could not render the query template! Anyone know how I can correct this? Thanks! Russell

Zope vs. the Big Boys

Honestly, how does Zope compare to some of the big names such as BEA and WebSphere? My company is looking at spending a lot of money in the Application Server realm, and I wondered how Zope stacks up against them. We're two shakes of a pen away from purchasing something, and I'd like to at least come back with an open-source solution just so that we can compare something. Fire away. I need as much ammo as I can get (although, honestly, I'm leaning towards BEA) R

Virtual Host Monster troubles

I am trying to hide the CMF instance name when accessing the site through its 'official' URL, there allowing http://tanya.oslo.seres.pgs.com/research/ to appear as http://web.research.pgs.com. I had hoped VHM in the root of the zope installation, combined with some apache rewrite rules would do that. However, all URL's in the CMF site (news etc) look like http://web.research.pgs.com/research/xxxx. How come? You could use PIL, if your TIFF image types are supported by PIL. Alternately, you could use tiffutils (this would be an external process called by Zope). I did this by coding a python-fu plugin for the gimp that listened on a network socket and accepted connections from Zope. You could also use PIL and do it all in python.
