create File object from Python Script?

O.k., I'm stumped. I've been looking over old messages and source code, but I haven't come to enlightenment on creating a File from a string. I can only create one from an uploaded file. I thought maybe I was on to something with using StringIO, but that's not allowed. I'd greatly appreciate a pointer to anything that might get me started. Thank you. --kyler

Source of ObjectManager: DTMLFile('dtml/index_main'

I looked at the source of ObjectManager: class ObjectManager( # .... manage_main=DTMLFile('dtml/main', globals()) manage_index_main=DTMLFile('dtml/index_main', globals()) There is a "dtml/main.dtml" but not a "dtml/index_main.dtml". Hi, i want to add a pyton script in a folder. this script should generate new folders with the id range from "a" to "z". any solutions? thanx in advance. Markus ps: where is the right place to find documentation for that?

Python method for getting contents of a sub-folder

I want to (or simply think I should) use a python method to get information about an instance of one object in a first sub-folder from a DTML Method in a another sub-folder. Graphically put, Main_Folder +-- Get_Contact_Info (Python method) | +-- First_Folder | +-- Contact_1 (DTML Document) | +-- Second_Folder +-- index_html (DTML Method) >From index_html, I want to call the Get_Contact_Info method (through acqusition) and have it return the absolute_url and title of the object(s) in the first folder (e.g., Contact_1). The question I have is what little trick do I need to include in the Get_Contact_Info method to obtain the correct set of ObjectValues of the objects in the First_Folder? The nice thing about this methodology is that I don't have to worry how far down the branches of the tree I am to get basic information from the "base" folder. I simply use acqisition to call the method. TIA, Ron

relative paths....

I am using a default header that populates links via a query that resides in the same directory and it worked fine. I have since moved the query to a "sql" folder" and I can't seem to get it working anymore. Here is an example of the working code: <dtml-in expr="page_links_query(page_path=PATH_INFO)"> <A HREF="&dtml-link_path;"><dtml-var menu_item><BR> This worked when the query and the menu were in the same folder. However, I have put the query into a different folder and I have changed the code to look like this: <dtml-in expr="control/sql/page_links_query(page_path=PATH_INFO)"> <A HREF="&dtml-link_path;"><dtml-var menu_item> Why doesn't this work? The error says: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'sql' is not defined Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Aaron.

For more sophisticated uses look at modules.apache.org for modules like mod_auth_any or mod_out_script which allow apache to hand off authentication to an external script (method) (sic!). Also things like mod_auth_mysql or mod_auth_postgresql would - together with the right user folder in zope - allow to unify zope and apache authentication. It really depends on what exactly you want to do what tool to choose - but I'm sure you'll find one. cheers, oliver

hi, I have a site that is split of from Zope by Apache, it's a MailMan site. http://www.x.com/this/that I need to secure it from public access, but I don't want to create accounts in Zope, then accounts in an Apache realm. ZServer ACL

I'm relatively new to Zope and python. I have Apache with ProxyPass (port 80) set up on the same box as Zope with a VirtualHostMonster (port 8080). I want to make it so that clients cannot "go around" Apache and talk directly to port 8080, so I'm looking for a way to make Zope only accept requests that come from localhost (or a specified IP address). I can't find anything on zope.org related to ACLs of this nature or blocking access to ZServer based on IP address. Any ideas? I dug through the medusa and ZServer code, but the answer isn't jumping out at me. I'm running Zope 2.4.0 with python 2.1.1 on solaris 2.7. Why would I want this? (you might ask) To scale, I want to be able to turn on caching in Apache, or replace Apache with squid. This won't improve performance if the pages that come out of Zope refer directly to port 8080. The clients would end up "going around" the cache. I know there are ways to make Zope generate appropriate URLs and thus not go around port 80, but I'm not interested in those solutions here. Even those solutions won't stop someone from hardcoding a reference to port 8080 in one of their pages. I want to simply shut off access to it in the first place so that if someone even tries it, they fail. Thanks, -todd
