RE: [Zope] data.fs and zeo

This is not quite true; there is a bug in FileStorage in Zope 2.3.x that is fixed in CVS and Zope 2.4 regarding this that hangs the ZSS... Also, FYI, anyone using ZEO 1.0b3 should really pull down zrpc.py from CVS as well to make ZEO Clients reconnect; a bug was introduced in 1.0b3 that prevented reconnects by the client; it was promptly fixed in CVS on May 29... After these two changes are made, ZEO seems to work nicely without incident in a production setting, at least for me... Is spaces really allowed in usernames ? Regards, Gitte Wange

> Have you tried: > import string > > return string.replace("flubbery", "flub", "shrub") Alternatively you can use the under namespace: return _.string.replace("flubbery", "flub", "shrub") although you'll first need to go to the python script object's "Bindings" tab and bind _ as the namespace (which is the recommended value anyway). I'm not sure if/why this is better than the way mentioned above, mind. :-) -Andy -- Andy Gimblett - Programmer - Frontier Internet Services Limited Tel: 029 20 820 044 Fax: 029 20 820 035 http://www.frontier.net.uk/ Statements made are at all times subject to Frontier's Terms and Conditions of Business, which are available upon request.

How to I set permission to allow a script to executable within zope? I have a script which I have been trying to "test", but a dialog box pops up asking me to login each time, and none of the usernames/password that I tried worked.

by Gitte Wange 16 Aug '01

Hello, I want to use the replace function (from the string module?) in a python script (inside zope). But whenever i tries to call the replace function, I get a name error. Do I need to do a from <module> import string or is it something else ? If I need to import the module .. does anybodu know what module I need to import ? :-) Regards, -- Gitte Wange Jensen Sys Admin, Developer and a lot more MMmanager.org Aps, Denmark Phone: +45 29 72 79 72 Email: gitte(a)mmmanager.org Web: www.mmmanager.org Quote of the day: And in the end, reality always tends to hit theory hard in the face when you least expect it. - Linus Torvalds

It's called the Z-shaped learning curve. Trying to understand Zope before you dive in as a "mistake". Do the examples in the Zope book and any other examples you can find. How-to's etc. Then you need to develop a project, and then when you run into problems ask on the mailing list and the #zope irc channel. Regards Max M

grokking _vh_ in VirtualHostMonster
by seb bacon 16 Aug '01

16 Aug '01

I've just spent far too long wrestling with the VHM, but I've finally sorted it. However, I don't understand exactly what was going on, and I'd love an explanation. I was trying to get requests for http://www.foo.com/Bar/rest/of/url to look in http://localhost:8080/demo/Bar/SomeFolder/rest/of/url and I was using RewriteRule ^/([^/]+)/?(.*) http://localhost:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.foo.com:80/demo/$1/SomeFolde… [P] to do this. It worked, but absolute_url was resolving to http://www.foo.com/rest/of/url. In order to fix absolute_url, I found after much hair-tearing that the following worked: RewriteRule ^/([^/]+)/?(.*) http://localhost:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.foo.com:80/demo/$1/SomeFolde… [P] Why did the second version (with _vh_) work, but the first not? Cheers, seb
