zsql .dictionaries() question

Zope and Python newbie. Insights / direction much appreciated. I'm trying to return a dictionary representation of a ZSQL result via a Python script. I'm accessing the script via a URL like: //host:8080/Application/SqlMethod/DictScript The following seems to work: items=[] for row in context(): rec={} for fld in context().names(): rec[fld]=row[fld] items.append(rec) return items but I'd like to use the result object method, .dictionaries() along the lines of return context().dictionaries() which fails with an attribute error in lib\python\Products\PythonScripts\Guarded.py Interestingly enough return context().names() and return context().data_dictionary both work fine. I expect I'm missing something obvious Thanks in advance David Golden

manage_addDocument returning a DTML method

I'm using Zope 2.4.0 on an Alpha Linux box. I have a Python Script consisting of the following line of code: container.manage_addDocument('test', 'Test Document') , which is creating a DTML Method instead of Document. Any idea as to the reason for this behaviour? thanks.

Can I look up objects by id

Is there a way to get a specific object by id even if it resides in a separate folder structure? I have a zclass of UserInformation that resides in /UserInfo/RegistrationInfo and I want to create a contact form that displays information from the above folder. The above folder contains both the information of the sender and the contactee. So I need to look up TWO objects and display information from them on the contact form. The zclass has properties of FirstName, LastName, etc. and these are the fields I need to display on the contact form. The contact form resides in /support/contact. How to assign a value to a dtml variable after it has been create d with the let dtml tag ?

Hello, In the piece of DTML code here after, I'm trying to compare each element of getAllPortalCategories() with each of getCategories(). I would like to have each element as a selected option in the generated HTML if this element is in both lists. Here the error I get is that Zope searches for a variable named 'false'. I would want Zope considers 'false' as a string value assigned to isSelected, not as a var to search. Zope w/ MailMan.

hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with Zope and mailman. I end up with an error about translating the administrative cookie. Hello: I have read the install.txt in the zope.src for the current release. It says I must use libpthread for my python compile. Where do I find this file. Once I get the library, when I cimpile python; I assume I use the use-lib = path or something like that. I cant find any docs on the web that tell me how to find this library. I've seen references to libpthread.so . But not much in english. cj

It may just be me, but your question doesn't make sense. I think you want to: 1) Make a zclass that holds the data 2) Write an external method that parses the csv file and 3) use the same external method to add instances of the ZClass with the data from the csv file. Shallow copies/links/references

Hi: OK everyone, I've managed to get object links to work. As discussed previously by others (re: object references) and asked by myself: I had the need to be able to refer to objects from different points of the folder hierarchy without duplicating those objects. Yes I know that can be done *programatically*. That is not the idea. The idea is to have a folder with differente widgets/components and to be able to copy and paste references to those widgets throughout the folder hierarchy. Of course that the usual copy/paste is not OK, since that *duplicates* the objects and as such further changes to the original object wont be reflected in the copies. With something like this + Ordered Folders you are able to have an index_html that just renders the objects within a folder and you can then drop objects/widgets into the folder to produce a page. What I did: - edited CopySupport.py - copied the manage_pasteObjects method to a manage_pasteMonikers method - commented the #ob=ob._getCopy(self) line (the duplicate object part) - added a "Paste Ref" button to the lib/python/OFS/dtml/main.dtml file that calls the pasteMonikers method """ <input class="form-element" type="submit" name="manage_pasteMonikers:method" value="Paste Ref." /> """ It works. It does what I want/need. When you change a reference, the original also changes. When you change the original, the references change. You can delete either the reference or the original and all is OK. Issues/TODO - find a way to distinguish references from the original (tried to change the meta_type at paste time but no luck). At least the meta_type/icon should change to provide a visual cue. - provide tool(s) to find impact of changing a reference. Provide a link from a reference object to the original. Provide a link from an object to its several references. Comments and experiences are welcome. C U! -- Mario Valente

ZCatalog searching

I would like to something where I list off objects in a folder and specify which objects are currently cataloged in a specific ZCatalog.
