Text insertion within a rendered textarea property

How would you perform this: I have dtml documents containing a body text as one of its properties. I need to insert html text (a table), provided by a method, within that text at the rendered page. I need the table to be placed at the beginning of the second paragraph of that text, or after a certain number of characters (whatever is more suitable to the page appeal). I'm just asking for advises, but code is welcomed as well. :) Thanks in advance, Ausum

Hi, This looks more like an Oracle problem than a Zope one. Try this: Open an sqlplus session using the same connection string as your zope connector uses. Do some of the same stuff that Zope does, to verify that it works. Leave the sqlplus alive during your nightly refresh. After the drop/create is done, see if you can still do stuff in sqlplus that the Zope server tries to do. I'm guessing that the sqlplus will also be fragged. It may be possible to do wierd Oracle magic to make existing clients work, or it may be that you have to do something like: make a method that just tests for the state of brokenness, called 'oraTest' (for example). Make a python method that does something like: try: oraTest() except: close Oracle connector reopen Oracle connector Then put this at the start of each request that might trigger the fault. Different external method and acquisition syntax question.

Hi All, I can't seem to find an answer to my external method and acquisition syntax question so here goes: I have three objects: python script(alpha) -> external method(beta) -> zsql(delta) The python script "alpha" is in subfolder "/proj/py_script". The external method "beta" is in subfolder "/proj/ex_python". the zsql object "delta" is in subfolder "/proj/db". The python script "alpha" is invoked and calls: context.ex_python.beta() External method "beta" is fired up and calls: self.db.delta() Which results in a runtime error of: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: db I've tried moving zsql object "delta" into the "/proj/ex_python" subfolder and changed the code in external method "beta" to read self.delta() Which resulted in a runtime error of: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: delta Any ideas? Is there a way to define a group in Zope? For instance, could I have user1, user2 and user3 as part of a group, say "testers", and the group "testers" can access to certain folders (or something of that sort) in Zope. I want users within a group to be able do updates on folders that group they belong to has been assigned to. Mixo Shiburi I have had a look at "roles", and what they seem to do is define permissions and not groups of people.

Hello, My development system: Zope Version: Zope 2.3.2 (binary release, python 1.5.2, linux2-x86) Python Version: 1.5.2 (#1, Aug 25 2000, 09:33:37) [GCC 2.96 20000731 (experimental)] System Platform: linux-i386 My deploy system: Zope Version: Zope 2.3.0 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python Version: 1.5.2 (#10, Feb 12 2001, 15:36:48) [GCC 2.95.2 19991024 (release)] System Platform: freebsd4 I get things working on my development environment, then export the folder, re-import on the deploy machine. I have a database which only allows selected 'users' update permission. I grouped these users and the update methods in a folder called 'Update'. Created a role called 'dbupdate', then disabled all 'Acquire permissions settings' for the Update folder, then enabled the following for the 'dbupdate' role: Access contents information Open/Close Database Connection(s) Query Vocabulary Search ZCatalog Use Database Methods Use Factories Use mailhost services View View History View management screens Enabled all settings for 'Manager' role. On my development machine, this does what I want it to. If someone trys to access the '/ADASS/Datbase/Update' URL it prompts them for a login/password. I exported the 'Update' folder, then imported it (Retain existing ownership info) into my deploy machine. On the deploy machine, I cannot get past the login prompt without getting 'Authorization Failed, Retry?'. If I press the 'Cancel' button, I then get: Zope Error Unauthorized You are not authorized to access title_or_id. I've re-checked and changed my 'users' login several times, and this is not the problem. I've tried setting 'Proxy' to 'Manager' and 'dbupdate' role on: Update/index_html, but this does not fix it either. I've looked at the security settings at the root level, and there are no glaring differences between the two machines. The only difference I see is the difference in the two Zope version numbers 2.3.0 vs 2.3.2. Suggestions? Restricted Products?

Is it possible to install products/ZClasses only for a particular subdirectory? I'm looking to host several different sites and at least one will have some group-specific classes happenning, which I'd not want to interfere with other groups' stuff.

Cannot add an Edit tab to the management screen

Hello, I do not see an 'Edit' tab appearing in the management screens of my (python) product with the following instruction: manage_options = ( {'label': 'Edit', 'action': 'manage_editChannelForm'}, )+ObjectManager.ObjectManager.manage_options +RoleManager.manage_options +Item.manage_options Could you tell me what is wrong or what else in the code has to be checked to make it working ? zsql .dictionaries() question

Zope and Python newbie. Insights / direction much appreciated. I'm trying to return a dictionary representation of a ZSQL result via a Python script. I'm accessing the script via a URL like: //host:8080/Application/SqlMethod/DictScript The following seems to work: items=[] for row in context(): rec={} for fld in context().names(): rec[fld]=row[fld] items.append(rec) return items but I'd like to use the result object method, .dictionaries() along the lines of return context().dictionaries() which fails with an attribute error in lib\python\Products\PythonScripts\Guarded.py Interestingly enough return context().names() and return context().data_dictionary both work fine. I expect I'm missing something obvious Thanks in advance David Golden

manage_addDocument returning a DTML method

I'm using Zope 2.4.0 on an Alpha Linux box. I have a Python Script consisting of the following line of code: container.manage_addDocument('test', 'Test Document') , which is creating a DTML Method instead of Document. Any idea as to the reason for this behaviour? thanks.
