Re: [Zope] Invoking a Protected CMF Method

Tim/Marc, I failed to mention that I did set the proxy rule for the method, but it still did not work. The method I created is owned by admin, who has been assigned the Manager role. I also set the method Proxy Role to Manager. No luck. When I assigned Anonymous the role of "Manage portal", this worked fine, but obviously I don't want to do that. It seems like Proxy should do the job, but it doesn't. Thanks, Mark From: "Zope" <jhgfjhgfjhgfjhgfjhgf(a)hotmail.com> To: <msnellings(a)stellarcomms.com>, <zope(a)zope.org> Subject: Re: [Zope] Invoking a Protected CMF Method Date: Fri, 3 Aug 2001 10:27:44 +0100 How about for just that DTML method, change the Proxy Roles to manager in the Proxy Tab? Just an idea Cheers Tim ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Snellings To: zope(a)zope.org Sent: Thursday, August 02, 2001 1:44 PM Subject: [Zope] Invoking a Protected CMF Method I've written a DTML Method which builds a user roster and then accesses the portal_membership record for each of these users to output their email address. The method works fine as long as the user is a Portal Manager since the getMemberById method is protected by permission ManagePortal. I have an automated process which every so often will invoke the method (via http request) to retrieve the email addresses of all the portal users. The problem is that the method is not working properly because when the http request is invoked, the request is treat as an anonymous user. What must I do get this to work? I have tried to specify a userid:password on the http request, but Zope is not using this as the userid for the CMF access. Is there a way to specify userid/password in the URL so that I can access the DTML method which as I said can only be invoked by a Portal Manager. I've considered adding a non-Protected method to MembershipTool.py, but I really don't want to be modifying CMF. Any suggestions? I have and use HTMLKit all the time. Have not been able to get the same functionality out of it as in HomeSite. Have not been able to duplicate the simplicity of one-keystroke online-preview of the current file. Access Rule no longer triggering
by Keith J. Farmer 03 Aug '01

I have the following access rule in root: Extract the part of HTTP_HOST we care about, and declare our rewrite dictionary. <dtml-let hostname="_.string.lower(HTTP_HOST)" sitemap="{ 'cloondara.thuban.org': 'cloondara', 'cloondara.dyndns.org': 'cloondara', 'www.thuban.org': 'thuban', 'server.thuban.org': 'thuban', 'leonov.dyndns.org': 'thuban' }" > <dtml-var hostname> <br> <dtml-var sitemap> Do we have a match? Set the logical root: <dtml-let root="'/'"><dtml-var root> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('SiteRootPATH', '/')"> </dtml-let> Add physical root: <dtml-let root="thuban"><dtml-var root> <dtml-call "REQUEST['TraversalRequestNameStack'].append(root)"> </dtml-let> Add vhost root: <dtml-let root="'VHOSTS'"><dtml-var root> <dtml-call "REQUEST['TraversalRequestNameStack'].append(root)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> <br> <dtml-var REQUEST> In the VHOSTS/... folders I have SiteRoots with all blank attributes per instructions. When I had ZOPE running on port 8080, all was well, and the access rule was performing admirably. However, I've since moved zope to port 80, and now it doesn't do anything. Viewing the access rule from the editor shows everything getting set properly. I've attempted reinstallation and reimporting the database, which didn't help. I'm running this as an NT Service under Win2k Server. Could someone explain what's going on? Did I miss something in moving Zope to port 80?

Hello ! we try to integrate a Python Script in Zope. This script connect to a MySQl DataBase via an ODBC llink. # open the database connexion=odbc.odbc('python_mysql/root/') curseur=connexion.cursor() # runnig the SQL query curseur.execute('select * from produits') we have imported the modules ODBC and DBI. When we run the script, zope ask to indentify us. There is an error after. We have authorized the import of these modules creating a new file called __init__.py. Is it normal that Zope ask us to identify at each running script ? Could you help us ? I believe you need to change the workflow. If members are not allowed to publish their objects, then they cannot be searched or viewed by other members...i think. Oh and Content Framework Management doesn't quite have the same ring to it ;-) Cheers Tim >hi, > >For the CFM product, is it possible to secure the site so that each member >has a private section that is NOT search-able from any other member? > >We would like to do a 'client' section on our site, but do not >necessarily want all client to view all other clients, and NOT view there >home page. > >Thanks, >j. > > >-- >...................... >..... hi, For the CFM product, is it possible to secure the site so that each member has a private section that is NOT search-able from any other member? We would like to do a 'client' section on our site, but do not necessarily want all client to view all other clients, and NOT view there home page. Thanks, j. -- ...................... ..... Jason C.
