Adding text properties of a ZClass to PrincipiaSearchSource

I created some custom ZClass objects to publish Press Releases and News Items on our website. Since the submitters are nontechnical the objects use a large text property (STX_body) to hold the main text in structured text format. How can I add this STX_body property to the PrincipiaSearchSource? I would like to keep the site search simple by just doing a lookup on the PrincipiaSearchSource index. I would hate to have to create additional queries for other objects I created. Regards, Frank

Hi, I want to do the following from a Python Script: - create a Folder - create a DTML Document within that folder - add a property to this new DTML Document I've got it all working except the last part. here's my code: --------------------------------------- folder_name = 'test_folder' document_name = 'test_document' context.manage_addFolder(folder_name, 'folder title') f = getattr(context, folder_name) f.manage_addDTMLDocument(folder_name,'document title') ' what to do here? I think it should be: ' f.getattr(context,document_name).manage_addProperty(etc) ' but it's not working print 'done' return printed ----------------------------------------- I'm just having trouble getting the new document object that's just been created. Radio button effect for links

Hi, Can someone please help me with what I thought would be a simple problem; I would like a series of links in a nav bar to behave like radio buttons. When a page is selected the link to that page in the nav bar is deactivated and is displayed as normal text. I have tried the following in a DTML Method called 'nav'. <dtml-var id> <dtml-if expr="id='index_html'"> ## index_html is a DTML Document <dtml-var nav> <b>index page</b> <dtml-else> <a href="index_html"> </dtml-if> Even though <dtml-var id> displays the document id as 'index_html' it still shows the link instead of the bolded text. Has anyone done this in the past and is willing to share their wisdom. Thanks, Sion

You have in hands a nice opportunity to start using CMF, like it is right now, out of the box. CMF is a portal framework that allows their users to upload every content they want to a folder of their own, and publish what they want; and by having the Autocad drawings exposed through http and not ftp, your users will have the chance to review them online, using the browser plugin. All the dwgs (as any other content type) will have metadata to help their finding, and also all of them will be discussable, if you want it, and the discussion items will be searchable as well. (as any picture, document, news, etc, is) Doesn't it sound good enough? :) There's an issue if you don't want to use the default login manager/users base. Generally speaking, when you do a query, you want the results of your query, not just the number of records. The original poster implies that this is what (s)he's looking for. It's inefficient to do two queries when one will suffice. So when you do the following, you get the number of records, as well as the result set that can be used in a dtml-in. <dtml-let results="SQL_Select()"> #Results returned = <dtml-var "_.len(results)"> </dtml-let> However, as somene has already pointed out, it's probably best/easiest to use the sequence-length variable defined by the dtml-in. However, if someone just wants a count of records from a db query, and not the records themselves, then you're right, just use SQL. In addition to backgrounding it, make sure you add a STUPID_LOG_FILE environment variable somewhere (usually in the 'start' script) so that those useful debugging messages are in fact logged somewhere, not just thrown up onto the console that you may or may not be looking at. Once your site is ready for prime time, remove the -D switch from the 'start' script, but leave the STUPID_LOG_FILE in there. It's useful for troubleshooting problems that may arise later. File management using Zope's API

I'd like to manage (create, modify, ...) Zope File objects using Zope API in Python External Methods. The only thing I have found is the API reference but unfortunately I still don't know anything about how to use Zope API... html text entities in forms

I have a web form where users enter plain text with HTML entity characters (the users are foreign language instructors who need to enter accented characters). When the form is submitted, the HTML entities are properly stored. However, some browsers on Windows display the entities rather than the equivalent HTML entity (ie, a with a ` above it, rather than à). I noticed that when the ZMI displays forms, it translates all the HTML markup characters into HTML entities. Thus, somthing like: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> This is the <dtml-var id> Document. </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> is actually: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> This is the <dtml-var id> Document. </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> in the ZMI source code. When "Save Changes" is clicked, Zope obviously then translates the <'s and >'s back into < and >. Similarly, HTML entities become &agrave; in the forms, but the &amp's are translated back into &'s. How would I go about doing this in my own forms by taking advantage of a functionality that already seems built into Zope? -- Mark James Adams mark(a)raysend.com

Binding Variables

May some one give me a light about binding Variables in Zope? Inside a python script, when should i use context.xxx or container.xxx ? On the zope book, page 136 there is: Context The Context binding defaults to the name context. This variable refers to the object that the script is called on. Ok! So if i call a python script inside a DTML Method, the context is the DTML method, if i call the script directly by its URL the context would be the directory, right? Sorry, if it sounds to basic, but since i am a beginner i am really confused. What are the different base classes of a Zclass ?
