downloadable zope howtos and tips?

There used to be downloadable Zope How-Tos and Tips in PDF. But the latest release is from March 2001. It looks like PDFs are no longer updated. Many people are offline most of the time, and need offline docs. Is there a way to download all current Tips and How-Tos? zope.org is not very wget-friendly :-) -- Milos Prudek

Mojo, this isn't an answer to your inquiry, but an opinion regarding CF and Macromedia, facing Zope. I don't have a working knowlegde of Cold Fusion, but I did bet on Dreamweaver since the very early stages of its development - meaning the beta versions-, when nobody thought Macromedia could succeed at building a killer web designer like DW is today, because it was engineered from sratch, and we all know that when an application is written like that, the obvious risk is that users get intimidated by knew GUIs, leading them to loose interest at their fancy features. Macromedia did succeed, and now Cold Fusion belongs to them. If I were to give a simple recommendation I'd say "just stay with Macromedia. They also know multimedia, and you'll count on internet media tools, tightly integrated to all your MM previous systems, when you need them." But I choose Zope. Not because it's a standard (it isn't), not because it's easy to learn (it isn't), not because its completely documented (it isn't), but because its object oriented architecture. Zope is a very smart framework to start the building of complex applications, because when you think of a new internet app, you always think of folders and pages, not tables and adapters. I'm also aware that this extraodinary buzz on Zope wouldn't be possible if it wasn't Open Source, so that's a bonus. I don't know CF but I'm sure that you couldn't blame on them because a simple feature isn't there, because that's the software you bought, keep it or leave it :) . On the contrary, because Zope it's open, you know you can modify it until it performs exactly the way you want it, even as a development tool. The only way I'd give CF a try is when it becomes open. Would that be possible, given the fact they've already given away the Flash format? TinyTablePlus hack to make it show in add list!!!

I had to add the following to TinyTablePlus to make it show in the add products menu on the ZCM screen. I.e. the product installed ok and showed up in the products fine(and not borken) but I could not find a add item for it in the management screens. My first thought was that zope didn't really know that it was there to add ... so I added the following and it worked. It may not be the right thing, but it worked. form variable types conflicts with javascript

Form type variables are great, but it causes a problem with Javascript. Example: <input name="default" type="checkbox" onClick="setDefault(this,this.form.name:list)"> <input name="name:list" type="text"> This doesn't work, as Javascript won't recognize name:list as a variable name when calling setDefault. I've tried various combinations with no such luck. Any suggestions? Thanks, Albert

crash on import: "multiple definitions of symbol _initSplitter"

As per the EventFolder installation instructions, I am trying to import EventFolder.zexp into the Products folder. When I type in this filename and click Import, Zope crashes, and I see this message in the window in which I ran start: dyld: /usr/local/bin/python multiple definitions of symbol _initSplitter /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/Splitter/ZopeSplitter/Splitter.so definition of _initSplitter /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/SearchIndex/Splitter.so definition of _initSplitter This crash is entirely repeatable. I can Add a Tutorial, which seems to import things from ZopeTutorialExamples.zexp, so I don't think the problem is with all importing. EventFolder.zexp is in the same directory as ZopeTutorialExamples.zexp, that being import in my Zope root. After a few random tries, I am not finding other products which require me to import anything into the Products folder, so I don't know if other similar products work. I cannot find any reference to this problem on zope.org, in the archives for this list, on the Zope Newbies site, in the EventFolder FAQ, or via google. So, here I am. Hopefully this is the right place. Versions of stuff that seems to be involved: Zope 2.4.0b3 Mac OS X 10.0.4, on a UFS partition python 2.1.1 EventFolder 1.31 Ideas, anyone? Brenda

Zope Python Script can't access site-wide Class attribute..

Hi, I have a site-wide python script in my products directory that has a class call myClass with one string attribute called "myName".
