Binding Variables
by Gustavo Vieira Goncalves Coelho Rios 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

May some one give me a light about binding Variables in Zope? Inside a python script, when should i use context.xxx or container.xxx ? On the zope book, page 136 there is: Context The Context binding defaults to the name context. This variable refers to the object that the script is called on. Ok! So if i call a python script inside a DTML Method, the context is the DTML method, if i call the script directly by its URL the context would be the directory, right? Sorry, if it sounds to basic, but since i am a beginner i am really confused. Thanks a lot for your time and cooperation. -- A billion here, a couple of billion there -- first thing you know it adds up to be real money. -- Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen

What are the different base classes of a Zclass ?
by Benoit DOMINIAK 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

Hi everybody, Can somebody tell me what are the different base classes that we can select when creating a Zclass ? Or is there a document somewhere ? I know that we can add some base classes to the availlable option list. So where do they come from ? Bye... Does search engines index zope sites?
by Jan Ulrich Hasecke 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

Hi all! After playing around with Zope on my machine I am planning to convert one of my static sites to zope. All old static pages are well known to search engines like google. Will search engines also index a site running with zope or are there problems with dynamically produced pages? TIA juh -- Betreutes Saufen http://www.sudelbuch.de/2000/20000904.html

clean up Data.fs?
by Kyler B. Laird 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

I have a Data.fs that I've been building up over many versions of Zope. Somewhere along the line, I noticed that "Undo" stopped working in many situations. Now it's almost never usable. I get errors like Error Type: UndoError Error Value: Couldn't undo change to '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x19r' because non-undoable transaction I've also noticed that Versions can really ruin my day. I don't want to try that right now in order to give an example, but it has meant having to completely destroy the parent folder of the Version. I've just considered these as developmental bugs, but with the release of 2.4.0 today, I decided to try Undo and Versions with a fresh database. They worked flawlessly. So...I'm guessing that my Data.fs file is a bit messed up. I looked at some of the utilities, but they don't appear to be appropriate. I tried running the ZODB recovery script, but it didn't find anything to recover. I'm considering trying to export everything that I can and then import them into a fresh database. I did this long ago, but I had far fewer objects in my root directory. I'd like to avoid doing it now. Any suggestions? Thank you. --kyler

Multiple Selection with "Checkboxes":
by Richard Bendit 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

What i use is: 1. UpdateForm (DTML-Method) 2. List_available_items (ZSQL-Method) "select ap_id,ap_docname from AliasPages where proj_id=<dtml-sqlvar proj_id type=int>" 3. List_selected_items (ZSQL-Method) "select ap_selection from Projects where proj_id=<dtml-sqlvar proj_id type=int>" Problem: I want that the Checkboxes are "CHECKED" if "available_items" == "selected_items" I am not sure if my dtml is wrong or the sql-method: ! See the TIP at the end of this mail ! **************************** Here the: "UpdateForm" **************************** <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('selectedITEMS',[])"> <dtml-in List_SelectedALIASPAGES> <dtml-call "selectedITEMS.append(proj_id)"> </dtml-in> <dtml-in List_available_items> <input type=checkbox name=ap_selection:list value="<dtml-var sequence-item>" <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set(selectedAP,_['sequence-item'])"> <dtml-in List_selected_items> <dtml-if expr="_['sequence-item'] == selectedITEMS"> checked </dtml-if>> </dtml-in> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> </TD> </TR><dtml-comment>colname:ap_selection,table:Projects</dtml-comment> **************************** Here a tip i found: "How to construct such a query? If you know, that your values do not contain quotes (i.e. '), then you can use "_.string.join" like this: select ... where col in ( <dtml-var "_.string.join(multiple_selection,',')"> )" I recognized that a lot of USERS have these problems with "Multiple Selections". So if you will help to find a good way to manage this i will post a "How-To" in Zope and i wanted to create an ADD-ON for the great product "ZNolk". THANX you all for your time. REGARDS Richard

strange date behavior
by Stephan Goeldi 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

I have a strange date behavior in Zope. I don't know why, but suddenly the date on my RedHat Linux box was set to the year 2014. I changed this back to 2001 now. When I now edit a Zope object and save it, it shows me "Saved changes. (2001-07-25 21:12)". So far ok. When I now return to the folder view, the date of the changed object remains at 2014. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Adress: Stephan Goeldi Muehlestrasse 19 4118 Rodersdorf email: goe(a)goeldi.com www: http://www.goeldi.com phone: (+4161) 733 0 555 fax: (+4161) 733 0 556 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

I can crash my Zope by changing ZODBC id.
by tom smith 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

Hi all, I'm trying to generecize (is that a word?) my weblog code, so I copied and pasted my weblog folder and got this... I renamed a ZODBC Connection object and now when I try to open a ZSQL object with a browser that relies on that connection object, zope crashes. If I open the ZSQL object over FTP with BBEdit it doesn't crash. But I can't edit which connection it uses. When I renamed the ZODBC Connection object, I can now edit a ZSQL object with the management screens without crashing zope. Cheers Tom P.s please cc me if you reply because I no longer subscribe to zope(a)zope.org (my "you have mail" sound was sending me batty), though I do read it on YahooGroups. -- tom smith | tom(a)othermedia.com http://www.othermedia.com/blog tel 020 8541 5355 | fax 020 8541 5507 11 penrhyn road, kingston-upon-thames, london KT1 2BZ

Product to manage office task and request
by Benoit DOMINIAK 25 Jul '01

25 Jul '01

Hi everybody, I'm looking for a product which can help me to store and manage all the requests people send to others in my company. I mean that for example if somebody wants the fax to be fixed, he could send a request on the intranet through this product. The "fax fixer man" could say when he will come to fix it. Everybody could read on the intranet at wich step the resolution of a request is. I don't know if it's clear enough but, does anybody know a product to do that ?
