File transfer with Zope
by Nicolas Villetard 17 Jul '01

I use Zope 2.4. I'd like to offer users to upload text files to my server in order to be manipulated by external methods written in Python. I have still found only 2 possibilities : (1) : sending files with a HTML form. But does something exist in Python to manage HTTP files sending ?? (2) : sending files by FTP. But how could I access files in Zope's file system from an external method ?? Do libraries exist to manipulate Zope filesystem ? Your solutions or suggestions are welcomed... thanks ____________________________________________________________________ - http://www.WebMailSPro.com - >> VOTRE service d'email sans pub avec VOTRE nom de domaine

Managing temporary objects
by Pawel Lewicki 17 Jul '01

17 Jul '01

Hallo, The problem I have is how to manage session objects. I was using HappySession but I'm thinking of other solution more connected with ZODB. Are there any clear examples of Python scripts (I suppose this is the only solution) explaining how to create an instance and manage it. For example I have a class User, call constructor with initial data like name or whatever taken from database and get an ID which is kept in cookie. Then I manage the object using this ID. I don't know Python but I suppose that it is somehow possible. Other problem is the time of living. Of course I want all objects to die in specific idle time when additionaly they could flush all modifications to the external database. Best regards, Pawel Lewicki

How do I use a Z Oracle Connection in a script?
by J. Cone 17 Jul '01

17 Jul '01

Hello All, I am trying to save a long raw into a database. Z SQL Method pastes the parameters into the request, which is unsatisfactory because this parameter contains stray quotes and unprintable characters. I am trying to write a python script, given an oracle connection called Oracle_database_connection in the same folder. I currently have AttributeError: cursor on line 4 (really line 3) of: ======================== db=context.Oracle_database_connection; c=db.cursor() try: c.execute('update abs_acct_reference set profile=:p where id = :i', p=newProfile, i=acctId); c.commit() finally: c.close() =================== Help? J. Cone.

Multiple Sites and Apache
by Thomas T. Veldhouse 17 Jul '01

17 Jul '01

Hello. I am very new to Zope -- so new in fact, that I have not done anything but the all to simplistic tutorial (I have JSP background). I was considering using Zope for two small personal sites on an Apache web server. I would like them to be accessed as follows: http://my.domain/site1/ and http://my.domain/site2/ I can not seem to figure out a way to get this to work. Instead I end up with this: http://my.domain/Zope/site1/ and http://my.domain/Zope/site2/ If I try to change my httpd.conf file, I end up breaking some of the paths that Zope creates for within a site (i.e. the image in "standard_html_footer"). Can anybody help me get this working? Thanks, Tom Veldhouse veldy(a)veldy.net

You can put more than one zope install on a machine and light em both up at the same time as long as they listen different ports. Make another zope install and edit the start file to listen on 8081, eg. But I would just create two folders off the root (/site1 & /site2). > ------------ Original Message ----------- > From: Thomas T. Please continue to copy the zope(a)zope.org list. First, are you using the latest release of Xron -- version 0.0.9? The references to ZScheduler and ZEvent make me suspect that you are not. See http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor. > you said that change the proxy role to higher > permissions and ensure that code working properly. > But we already given the role as "Manager" and we > logged as Manager and script(code) is working > properly. > But it is throwing same exception > ------ > ( You are not authorized to access this resource. > No Authorization header found. (File: C:\Program > Files\zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\HTTPResponse.py Line: > 588) 401 Unauthorized for > http://sw8:8080/NShedu/trigger > > ) Clearly the permissions are not configured correctly at some point. You might try installing the ZDebug product, which gives explicit diagnostics about permission exceptions. I don't know, however, whether it will show its diagnostics in this context. > > ------ > if i click trigger tab. > > In server side it is showing message like > "currentThread():no current thread for -413987" . > We are using windows98 standalone system. > Server is running on windows98 in one system and > client is working on windows98 in one system. This is a spurious message. It has no bad consequences for your app. > > I had written python script > > " what=context.manage_copyObjects(ids=['object1']) > context.Folder1.manage_pasteObjects(what) " > > the above script i had written in python script file > name is "filecopy" > and this file is calling in ZEvent name is "NShedu" as > follows > > " <dtml-call filecopy> " at certain time. I'm not sure which methods must have the extra permissions -- filecopy, or NShedu, or both perhaps. > > My task is "object1" should copy to "Folder1" at > certain time everyday. > > one more thing , is it possible to copy one Folder > from Zope server to local HardDisk at certain time > everyday ???? I don't have experience doing that specific task; but I'm sure it's possible. However, it may not be possible with manage_copyObjects and manage_pasteObjects. They depend on cookies to save state between operations; however, in your case, there is no real client available to store cookies. I suspect that your filecopy method must read the data from 'object1' and write it directly to "what". Perhaps another Zope developer can step in and suggest something more specific based on actual experience. -- Loren
