Making Variations More Compact

Hi; Two related questions: #1: If I want to serve different pages depending on variables such as screen res, language, etc., is there a way (or product) whereby after testing for those variables I can capture the results of my test into a Zope method? For example, let's say I capture screen resolution. Right now, I capture screen res with a Javascript, then I direct traffic to two different folders, depending on whether they're surfing at 800*600 or 1024*786. When I add another variable, such as language, suddenly things get blown out of proportion. If I could convert what I capture into a Zope method then I could dispense with all these folders! #2: Is there a way to create *one* big Zope method with a bunch of little Zope methods within it? For example, if I want to make my pages available in multiple languages, then I need to assign <dtml-var xxx> tags to all text. Next, I need to create these Zope methods. Well, that's a lot of Zope methods! It would be easier if I could reference a page that had them all in it, and Zope could search for the right ones. In other words, a page of all translation of text into English for *one* Web page with all the associated Zope methods, etc. Is this possible? TIA, BenO

Add a ZClass-Instance with file properties

Hi! I have a ZClass with File properties, but i can't create objects of that type. i added a file selection to the addForm: <input type=file name="file" size=30> but when i click "Add", i get an error message: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unsliceable object .. filesize of uploaded file

I know this question's been posted before but I can't find it at nipltd.com so I post it again. How to find the size of a uploaded file? I've tried: print getattr(REQUEST['file'],'size') and print getattr(REQUEST['file'],'filesize') This works fine though print getattr(REQUEST['file'],'filename') Cheers, Peter

Hello, A friend of mine has an UnpicklingError when she imports a simple zexp file (DTML method with northing but text and a simple form button) at root level. Her Setup : * He has a fresh Redhat 7.0, python 1.5.2 * Zope 2.3.3 compiled from source * imported some products (cookieCrumbler, nfgnav, yahaw, popoto) My setup : * win 98 * 2.3.3 binary The imports also works fine on NT/2.3.2 All works fine on her machine untill she does the import. Otherwise, nothing wrong. The "bad" .zexp is a simple export from the Win98 machine. Any idea about that ? I saw that this happens sometimes, but with no respoinses about the reason. portability of Zope applications

Hi, I am new to Zope. I started evaluating it a bit to understand its use in our environment. 2 questions concerning the 'portability' of Zope applications: 1- assuming I have 2 Zope servers, one for development and one for deployment: is it possible to port all stuff made in one folder with installation 1 in installation 2 ? ...I would imagine a utility to 'pack' all objects and unpack them in another installation. 2- as to database connectivity (I am used to PHP, where with PHPlib I can write PHP which is portable to setups using different servers). Does the same apply to Zope ? I.e. if I am using ODBC/Access in my 'prototype', and Oracle in my full-blown application, is it sufficient to have a connection ID with the same name to insure portability ?
