Trouble accessing object properties
by Burchill, Scott B. 29 Jun '01

29 Jun '01

Solved it myself. The key, of course, was the ZClass and the fact that I am working with a property sheet. So, code changes as follows: for object in context.objectValues('jobposting'): print "Job Posting is:", object.title_and_id() >> sheet = object.propertysheets.get('JobPosting_description') print "Properties are:" for prop in sheet.propertyMap(): ^^^^^ print " id :", prop['id'], print " type :", prop['type'], print " value:", sheet.getProperty(prop['id']) ^^^^^ return printed Sorry to have posted and wasted your time only to answer this myself. Maybe this will help someone in the future. -- Scott B. acquisition problem
by kosh＠aesaeion.com 29 Jun '01

I am trying to make an object behave like a dtml-method but with one exception. I want it to look in itself first to find the data then look around it like a dtml-method does. So lets say my ojbect is called a and it exists in the folder foo in /foo/bar/baz/a I want it to look in its own vars first for the data it needs to render the dtml then look in baz bar foo just like a dtml-method does. Mainly I need this for my dtml to html generation function. Right now I am calling it with HTML(string, globals())(self, self.REQUEST) That works for giving the behavior that a dtml-document has but not for a dtml-method type behavior at least not so far. Kaivo CatalogQuery Product Released
by Casey Duncan 29 Jun '01

29 Jun '01

Are you tired like I am of fighting with ZCatalog to do what should be simple queries? Do you wish that you could easily perform complex query logic with ZCatalogs efficiently and without your head exploding? Well look no further. The CatalogQuery product solves these problems by adding an intuitive query interface to ZCatalog. Imagine being able to do away with kludges like creating special methods just as index targets or stepping through results to remove duplicates. This is the first release of this product, so please try it out and let us know what you think! Since it is a hotfix that makes no changes to the Zope core, it is as easy to remove as it is to install. Download at: http://www.zope.org/Members/Kaivo/CatalogQuery Enjoy. -- | Casey Duncan | Kaivo, Inc. | cduncan(a)kaivo.com `------------------> P.S. I know this is a cross-post, but they are taking forever to moderate zope-announce postings (from my impatient point of view). Those familiar with a previous thread on lawsuits can sue me... 8^)

Re: strange 'print' behavior in Python Scripts

I have no idea why Python Scripts is acting this way. Can you generate your xml without using triple quotes? print 'foo\nbar' or print '%s\n%s' % ('foo', 'bar') -- Patrick Lewis "Christopher N. How to put links to a local hard disk content in Zope?
by sorular＠netscape.net 29 Jun '01

29 Jun '01

A very simple question I think? When I first installed Zope, the localhost:8080 link takes me to the Zope Quick Start dtml with whole hip of links . How do I change this? OR I just want to be able to put links on *this* dtml that shows some of the files on my hard disk: i.e. Zope installed and running from C:/program files/Zope/ and I want to be able to view the files on C:/docs/*.doc or C:/img/*.jpg from this first index html? thanks __________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape Webmail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com/

While I haven't done it, I'm guessing you could look into the code that the History tab uses, and go from there. Not exactly what you wanted to hear probably :) The History tab calls manage_change_history_page, so grepping through my /lib/python directory: ./OSF/History.py makes reference to 'manage_change_history_page' and searching for files with the word 'history' turns up: lib\python\Products\CMFDefault\skins\content\content_status_history.dtml lib\python\OFS\dtml\history.dtml lib\python\OFS\dtml\historyCompare.dtml Those may be places to start looking. Trouble accessing object properties
by Burchill, Scott B. 29 Jun '01

29 Jun '01

I am building a site which will display a list of job postings. I have created a product with a ZClass for these postings. These objects have a number of properties. I have a folder into which I have placed a number of these job posting objects. I want to write code which changes flow and/or makes decisions based on the values of the properties in each object. I have written this code just to test my ability to accomplish these tasks: for object in context.objectValues('jobposting'): print "Job Posting is:", object.title_and_id() print "Properties are:" for prop in object.propertyMap(): print " id :", prop['id'], print " type :", prop['type'], print " value:", str(object.getProperty(prop['id'])) return printed Here's the result: Job Posting is: Director of Educational Programming and Children's Festival (ChildFestDirect) Properties are: id : title type : string value: Job Posting is: Director of Marketing and Sales (MrktgDirector) Properties are: id : title type : string value: Obviously, I am doing something wrong in attempting to access the properties of these objects. If anyone can see what I'm doing wrong I would really appreciate some help. Thanks much! -- Scott B.
