Virtual Host/Apache Problem
by Chris Bruce 20 Jun '01

20 Jun '01

I am using the VirtualHost Monster, and it seems to be working good, however my Apache is not serving up the index_html when I just reference the site root. I am getting "You don't have permission to access / on this server." error. But if I append the index_html to site root, it works just fine. Any ideas. Could it be something weird with my apache conf? Thanks, Chris Bruce __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Traverse hook and security
by Dirksen 20 Jun '01

20 Jun '01

Hi, I'm developing a Zope product myContainer. It has a traverse hook like this: def __bobo_traverse__(self, REQUEST, name): return MyObj(name) MyObj is a transient wrapper class, its properties are populated from a db. Say I've created an instance of the container in Zodb as myContainer, I can visit this url: http://localhost/myContainer/someObj/index_html But when I visit this as the Manager: http://localhost/myContainer/someObj/manage_workspace Zope throws out an authorization box. I have to log in as emergency super user to be able to visit any methods prefixed as 'manage_' under someObj. Is there something missing in my hook? importing libraries into zope
by Corbett Waddingham 20 Jun '01

20 Jun '01

I'm trying to import a Python module into a Python script in Zope. It continually gives me the error: "Error Type: ImportError Error Value: import of "emUU" is unauthorized" (emUU is the module) I found this example of how to properly import modules by searching the list's archives (thanks, Google!): http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-dev/2001-February/009531.html However, when I try it, Zope complains about using "_" as the first character of a variable. I'm sure there is something simple I'm not doing first, but can't figure out what it is. Any pointers? TIA. Cory __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? RE: [Zope] Zope starts on, but cannot open on a browser.

Try localhost:8080/manage, or add your machine name to the laptop's hosts file (sample hosts file found at hosts.sam in /winnt/system32/drivers/etc). Also, there is a known problem with a version of IE, I think it's 5.0 or 5.1, that it won't open the management interface, just upgrade to IE5.5. Re: [Zope] problems with adding monthRange.py as Python script object
by Frank McGeough 20 Jun '01

20 Jun '01

I'm still working on this. There aren't any wierd characters in the file. Something else is going on. I've got Zope 2.3.2 installed and CMF 1.1 beta. The monthRange.py module that I'm trying to import is the same one that works on my Windows 2K machine and downloaded from cmf.zope.org. The directory I installed this too on this Windows ME machine is c:\Program Files\..., I am beginning to wonder whether that is the problem (the space in the dir name) in combination with running on this sort-of o/s. It's very puzzling. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dieter Maurer Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 3:25 PM To: Frank McGeough Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] problems with adding monthRange.py as Python script object Frank McGeough writes: > I get the following traceback that looks like Zope's having trouble finding DateTime. > > File "", line 2 > > from DateTime import DateTime > > ^ > > SyntaxError: invalid syntax Zope does not have a problem to find "DateTime". It reports a SyntaxError not an ImportError. There may be something invisible after the "DateTime" that confuses the Python parser. Maybe, the indentation is wrong. You know, Python block structuring is based on indentation (I hate that but others are convinced, it is a major strength). One missing space or one to much, and you get a difficult to recognize syntax error.
