In DTML, no cookie then default. How?

Hi, I have worked out how to store cookies and retreive them in DTML to store preferences on a form. Question. If the cookie isn't there yet or gets deleted/rejected etc. How do I insert a default value into the name space? What I need is something like... if <thing> isn't there then <thing>=some default value. What would solve my problems would be if <dtml-let> didn't need a closing </dtml-let>. Background... This cookie is used to enter a preference value in a form, thus... <tr> <th align="left">Batch Size</th> <td><input type='integer' name='batch_size:int' size=2 value="&dtml.missing-batch_size;" /></td> </tr> When the form is entered the cookie is set to the value inserted by the user, thus... <dtml-if "REQUEST.has_key('batch_size')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setCookie('batch_size', batch_size, expires='Wed, 19 Feb 2020 14:28:00 GMT')"> </dtml-if> When the user comes back to the form, the value of batch_size is magically read from the cookie as a default again. Problem... The form is called for the first time so there is no cookie. How do I set batch_size to a default value? Regards, Simon.

objects as values in a python dictionary

This concerns both Python Script and External Methods. I haven't tried it with DTML (if possible). A dictionary can use objects as values I think. res={} res[string] = "A wicked module I use often" res[context] = "This is where you were :)" That works, but it doesn't work when I loop over objectValues for object in folderobject.objectValues(): res[object] = "yeah" The error message is AttributeError and __hash__ something. What have I missed? Peter

Error message when freezing

PDF documents in CMF (1.0)

Hi, I created a new document in my CMF personal folder, and uploaded a PDF file. The MIME type switches to application/pdf. Till now, all's OK. But when I try to open that document later from the CMF (Whatever browser), I'm asked 3 (!) times for a local destination file and the PDF does not open in the Acrobat Reader plugin of the browser as usual (when creating an usual Zope "file" object then upload a PDF file, all's fine). Is it a CMF bug or did I miss something ? --Gilles

I've been having problems with Zope failing, resulting in a "Temporarily Unavailable" message when anyone tries to access the site. I was running Squishdot 0.7 on Zope 2.2.x and FreeBSD 3.x. Partly because I was running out of disk space, and partly because of these failures, I've just moved to a new machine with Zope 2.3.2 and FreeBSD 4.3. (In both cases, Apache's serving the http.) I was going to upgrade to the latest Squishdot as well, but ran out of time. The next morning, the failure was back, and it's happened again a week later. All I know is, the threads are still running, but nothing's accessible. If I kill the threads and restart Zope, it works again -- for a while. I haven't really grasped how all this stuff works yet, so: 1) Where to I look for clues (which log files, etc.) to help analyze the problem? 2) Is this a familiar-sounding problem? There was a reference on the Squishdot list to Apache's mod_proxy, but I'm not sure it applies to our situation... Thanks, Michael Sanborn

Well, I give up. It's the strangest thing. Any Python script I try and add externally that has more than 1 line in it doesn't work (gives syntax error). I ran the install again and I notice that it gets an error while trying to compile the Python modules. The error flashes by so fast I am not sure what it is. The error isn't in the install.log. It reports a SyntaxError not an ImportError. There may be something invisible after the "DateTime" that confuses the Python parser. Maybe, the indentation is wrong. You know, Python block structuring is based on indentation (I hate that but others are convinced, it is a major strength).
