ZClass with binary fields

Hi! I want to have special folders and documents to which i can attach binary data, e.g. pdfs, wavs etc.. how can i create a ZClass with a field for binary data? the second problem ois more difficult: the zclass has to be capable of carrying an unlimited number of attachments. so either add_property for a new attachment has to be possible, or the data has to be stored in an array. any ideas how this could be done? thanks in advance! processing checkbox parameters - browser differences

Hi all, My problem is this: I have a dtml method needs to pick up the values ONLY of checked checkboxes in an html form whose names are the ID's of objects users want to edit or delete. So the idea is that the object ids are passed to the method with the Request object and the appropriate objects can then be deleted or opened for editing in another html form. This works great in netscape 4.x but it doesn't work in IE 5 - it doesn't appear to be returning the checkboxes with the REQUEST - or perhaps not picking up that any are checked. Here is the code from the method that processes the form' action: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form.items()"> <dtml-let request_item_id=sequence-key> <dtml-in "objectValues('myObjectType')"> <dtml-if expr="id == request_item_id"> Do some stuff to the object here </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> ------------------------------------------ Here is the code that instantiates the checkbox: <TD> <input type=checkbox name=<dtml-var id> value=1></TD> Anyone know how to deal with this? return a value from python script

Hi, I have a master detail form which is sent to a python script. The detail part of the form uses the records converters. The python script works ok and the records are updated in a MySQL database. #contact ----- inserts master record ----- context.StaffInsertMethod() ----- inserts detail records ----- for x in contact: name = x['name'] job = x['job'] context.ContactInsertMethod(name=name, job=job) return 'ok' How can I respond to the 'ok' that is returned in a DTML document? Calling the script from a DTML document returns exactly the same thing as calling the script directly from the form. -- ------------ S.Morris

Using REQUEST only in a limited fashion

I want to create a standard index page that can be easily overridden. I've set up index_html to point to standard_index, which looks like this: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-with portal_properties> <dtml-if front_page> <dtml-var front_page> <dtml-else> <font size="+1">Click on the item you wish to view:</font> <dtml-var liststuff> </dtml-if> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This works fine except for an obvious problem. Let's say I'm in the healthcare/nurses folder. If the healthcare folder contains the front_page Method, then healthcare/nurses will end up using it too. I don't want that to happen; I only want to show front_page in a folder that contains it. How do I do that? I could use REQUEST only, but so far I haven't figured out how. Is there a way to put it into the dtml-if statement? The only examples I could find on the Zope site used <dtml-with REQUEST only>, but that will cause the call to <dtml-var liststuff> to blow up because it's only looking in the requesting folder. What's the best way around this? And if it's too much of a pain to do in a DTML Method, how about in Python? Thanks, Anders Schneiderman Information Manager SEIU International P.S. For example, I'm going to add some code to standard_index so that if the requesting folder contains a DTML Method called "blurb", it'll display the blurb followed by the list of files. In short, I want to create several ways of letting users customize a particular folder's display depending on their level of skill.

Salve, I just trying to figure out if PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) + Zope is working. I am especially interested in the combination with LDAP. Anybody tried this already? What DA are you using? I use PoPy and ZPoPyDA. It appears (I haven't verified it) that it rolls back all the ZSQLMethods executed between pageviews. That's all well and good, but users should be able to reasonably expect that their passwords be secure from prying administrators. Sure, an admin could brute force or guess a *nix password, but they aren't cleartext. The only easy way for an admin to get a user's passwd is to chage it (nevermind the 'su username' act). Zope stores it's data in a database, with a seperate security system from the filesystem. These passwords should not be cleartext anymore than you would select the cleartext option for your inituser or access file. Please try to keep this stuff on the list.. thanks. I think having the if..else in custom_zodb.py is a recipe for total confusion. Remove the FileStorage stuff so that the custom_zodb.py file just reads: import ZEO.ClientStorage Storage=ZEO.ClientStorage.ClientStorage( os.path.join(INSTANCE_HOME, 'var', 'zeo.soc'), name="ZEO Storage", storage="1", ) That's it. hash and username variables

Hi, I am a new user of zope, and I have some questions: a) how do I call hash on some text object. What I want to do is generate a text variable from an input form, then hash this and get a (hopefully) unique 32-bit integer number. I want to generate unique keys, as the text is unique, and the hash integer will much faster to pass around. I tried <dtml-call hash(text)> but it produces nothing. Do I have to do this in a python method? b) is there a variable that holds the current user's name? like <dtml-var username> but it doesn't work. PS. I tried searching the lists and on yahoo and on the tutorials and on the zopebook, but I didn't find much information on hash and dtml-call. So please I would appreciate some help on this.
