IIS and Zope with pcgi

Greetings I'm trying to get Zope 2.3.2 to work through IIS (on NT 4.0), but with no luck. I've followed all the instructions found at Zope.org, but still get this error message when trying to link to http://myserver/cgi-bin/zope.pcgi "Temporarily Unavailable The resource you requested is temporarily unavailable - please try again later. missing publisher "D:\WebSite\z2.py"" I've tried this with the publisher set to D:\WebSite\pcgi\pcgi_publisher.py in zope.pcgi with the same effect. One thing that might provide a clue is that when starting Zope with start.bat it does show an error(200) ZServer cannot write PID file This message, about the PID file, does not appear when I start Zope without trying to get pcgi to work. ZServer still responds on port 8080, but I can't access it through pcgi. Does anybody have any clues? Thanks in advance. Eric M. Hi, some people have solved the problem you have simply switching to psycopg. the psycopg type-system, apart from being fully customizable, treat the oid type the correct way, returning an integer. on the other side you don't get automatic management of lob (that popy does) but with 7.1 and unlimited row size less and less people use lobs anymore. OS Error 24: Too many files open

Folks, Config: Zope 2.3.2 / Solaris 2.6 After 23 days of adding and removing files, we've bumped into a file descriptor table problem on our Solaris 2.6 platform. The situation was reported in a standard Zope error web response with the following contents: Error Type: OSError Error Value: [Errno 24] Too many open files: '/var/tmp/(a)12939.7266' Unfortunately, I was unable to "lsof" the crippled Zope instance. However, I have looked at the restarted instance and found twelve long-standing open files in the /var directory. Since file descriptors are a scarce resource in Solaris 2.6, I've jumped the ulimit value up to 256 and Zope is off and running again. Are long-standing temporary files a typical Zope signature? Did I miss a discussion of this topic? Regards, Dave

Large file transfers

All, We desire to use our website (Zope) to gather large files from our users. These files can be rather large (10-70mb). From what I have read It would probably not be a good thing to import these files into the Zope database. So does anybody have any other ideas of how to move these files onto our server? Sherman

[DCOracle2] Problems with Insert - TRY 2

Product: DCOracle2 Alpha 6 against 8.1.7 Installation is symlinked into INSTANCE_HOME Symptoms: Browsing Database is OK Selecting from database is OK Inserting into database gives this error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: DatabaseError Error Value: (24374, 'ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch') This error is explained in the oracle docs: " ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch Cause: The application did not define output variables for data being fetched before issuing a fetch call or invoking a fetch by specifying a non-zero row count in an execute call. Action: Issue OCI define calls for the columns to be fetched. " What is going on here? I reverted to DCOracle 1 and everything works well. Hae anybody had similar problems? Also: what is the retionale for returning None instead of Null for null values? Is it more pythonesque? I'm new to zope/python so this may have been addressed elswhere but I did search the archives and couldn't find it Redhat7.0 Sendmail 8.11.0 Python 1.5.2 My First email form threw an error which I traced to this ... /usr/lib/python1.5/smtplib.py : line 303 name=socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostname())[0] I ran it at the python interpreter prompt and it threw an error so I changed it till I got a hostname from it, the line that worked for me was name=socket.gethostname() I'm happy it worked BUT is this going to break other components of my zope system and/or python? Or is it normal to need to tweak this file for different versions of sendmail Thanks for any advice Kai Keliikuli
