Flow-Charts
by Tom Deprez 05 Jun '01

05 Jun '01

Hi, Somebody already created Flow-Charts (not graphical) or something in Zope? I want to create a certain log-book, but the solutions can be created/shown in flow-chart style. ie. 'First try out the network, if this fails go to...' every state is a new Zope object in the hierarchy. (This instead of just plain text) Next, not for now, but maybe in the future, are there python libraries which can graphically show a flowchart? Thanks; Tom.

When I use python scripts and versions I get this error Error Type: VersionLockError Error Value: ("'\\000\\000\\000\\000\\000\\002<_'", '/tenders/cft06062001') How can I do for getting version and python scripts work together? Do I need to rewrite the entire scripts into DTML-code? [ANN]Zopegeeks needs YOU
by Tane Piper 05 Jun '01

Zopegeeks has recently moved to a new server at Amaze (www.amaze.nl) a very good European zope hosting company. Now that we are 80% up and running, zopegeeks is now turing to the community to help with content. We need help with the following: Tutorials - Zopegeeks is looking to host well-written tutorials from members of the community. These can be one-offs, or multi-part tutorials in a similar style to sites like PHPBuilder, or ASP Today. We are accepting proposal's at this moment for future tutorials, so if you have an idea them email me at tane(a)zopegeeks.org. Features, Reviews and Editorials - These 3 topics are here to allow you to get your knowledge or opinion about a subject related to Zope, Python or Open source across to members of the community. If you have an idea for any of the above, then email me at tane(a)zopegeeks.org. The Zopebox - If you have a direct point of view to get across then the Zopebox Soapbox is for you. Each week, the Zopebox will allow one member of the community to get their rant or point of view across to the communinty. You can also get feedback from the comments system. If you want to use the Zopebox, then email me at tane(a)zopegeeks.org. If you can help with any of these, you can help in making zopegeeks one of the best Zope sites on the net! Re: [Zope] Method vs. Doc.
by Daniel Fairs 05 Jun '01

I write now with the knowledge of my "Newbie Acquisition Question" question... :) Maybe this should be in the FAQ? (says he without checking the FAQ ;) A DTML Document is a 'proper' object. It has properties. It execuates in its own context. A DTML Method exectutes in the context of another object. This is based on an example from the Zope book. Imagine you have DTML Method called 'Feed' in the root folder. Then you have a series of folders, 'Elephant', 'Tiger', 'Penguin' etc. under the root folder. Inside each of these is a DTML Document, 'Dinner', containing the name of the food that the animal in question likes to eat. The Feed method in the root folder ir written to look at this 'Dinner' DTML Document to find out the type of food to use. OK, so now we can visit things like: /Elephant/Feed /Penguin/Feed ... and all is well. The 'Feed' method is being acquired from the root folder *in the context of* the animal concerned. So what happens if we change the 'Feed' DTML Method to a DTML Document? Well, when we visit /Elephant/Feed we will find that suddenly Zope cannot find the critical 'Dinner' DTML Document, because crucially, the 'Feed' DTML Document will *execute in the context of the root folder*. It therefore cannot acquire the 'Dinner' document, because it is executing 'higher up' the hierarchy. To conclude: DTML Documents execute in a *fixed context* (the one they're created in) DTML Methods can execute in *any context they're acquired in* (the object they're called on) Thanks to the two guys who replied to my previous mail and the authors of the Zope Book who finally got my head round this :) Hope that helps, and I hope I'm right! :) Cheers, Dan _________________________________________________________________ Daniel Fairs | daniel.fairs(a)spiderplant.net | www.spiderplant.net

You can have a boo at: http://jleach1.dsl.kamloops.net/g1 That is a screenshot from one of the IE that does not work. If it's just a silly IE but or feature, and I suspect it is, then pardon this msg. thanks, j. ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ... University College of the Cariboo. ..

Hello all, one of my lovely colleagues got it working with the following code: <dtml-let thisone=menu_sort_order> <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-if "hasProperty('menu_sort_order')"> <dtml-if expr="thisone==menu_sort_order">   <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;">[<dtml-var title>]</a> <dtml-else>   <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-if> <dtml-else> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> many thanks to Tim for your suggestion: it pointed us in a direction which works, even if i don't really understand why! though it would seem to have something to do with strings versus integers (menu_sort_order being a property which accepts integer values...) cheers, Garry ------- Forwarded message follows ------- From: Garry Steedman <gs(a)styrax.com> To: tim(a)freepm.org, michel(a)digicool.com, Max Møller Rasmussen <maxm(a)normik.dk> Subject: Re: [Zope] Equality test: if sequence-item = document id [excessive recursion error] Copies to: zope(a)zope.org Send reply to: gs(a)styrax.com Date sent: Sat, 2 Jun 2001 13:43:21 +0000 Tim, thanks for the reply: i should have made myself clearer the first time round: at first i thought it was just an issue of stringifying things in order to compare them, but, once this is taken care of (as i suspect it is now) this fscking recursion error takes over. which, IINM means its a namespace problem. one of the things which puzzles me is that when i use objectIds() (as opposed to objectValues()), the recursion problem goes away, but i can't call the title variable without getting an authentication dialogue (which doesn't accept the admin pwd!) - now, i can get round this by using the title_or_id variable, but this renders as the title_or_id of the *current* document times the number of documents in the list (instead of the title_or_id of each document)! this, again, IINM, suggests a namespace problem. i guess i must be missing something fairly obvious because i can't believe i'm trying to do something particularly strange :( Folder_X [Folder] standard_x_header [DTML Method] nav_stuff_l1 [DTML Method] nav_stuff_l2 [DTML Method] Folder_Y [Folder] doc_1 [DTML Document] doc_2 [DTML Document] standard_x_header includes <dtml-var nav_stuff_l1> <dtml-var nav_stuff_l2> <nav_stuff_l1> is this: <dtml-comment> This method builds the 1st-level site navigation.
