Product: DCOracle2 Alpha 6 against 8.1.7 Installation is symlinked into INSTANCE_HOME Symptoms: Browsing Database is OK Selecting from database is OK Inserting into database gives this error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: DatabaseError Error Value: (24374, 'ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch') This error is explained in the oracle docs: " ORA-24374: define not done before fetch or execute and fetch Cause: The application did not define output variables for data being fetched before issuing a fetch call or invoking a fetch by specifying a non-zero row count in an execute call. Action: Issue OCI define calls for the columns to be fetched. " What is going on here? I reverted to DCOracle 1 and everything works well. Hae anybody had similar problems? Also: what is the retionale for returning None instead of Null for null values? Is it more pythonesque? Thanks for any help. /dario - -------------------------------------------------------------------- Dario Lopez-Kästen Systems Developer Chalmers Univ. of Technology dario(a)ita.chalmers.se ICQ will yield no hits IT Systems & Services

dtml-sendmail/smtplib.py
by zopelist＠jkimpact.com 03 Jun '01

I'm new to zope/python so this may have been addressed elswhere but I did search the archives and couldn't find it Redhat7.0 Sendmail 8.11.0 Python 1.5.2 My First email form threw an error which I traced to this ... /usr/lib/python1.5/smtplib.py : line 303 name=socket.gethostbyaddr(socket.gethostname())[0] I ran it at the python interpreter prompt and it threw an error so I changed it till I got a hostname from it, the line that worked for me was name=socket.gethostname() I'm happy it worked BUT is this going to break other components of my zope system and/or python? Or is it normal to need to tweak this file for different versions of sendmail Thanks for any advice Kai Keliikuli

CoreSessions isTokenFromCookie
by Frank Tegtmeyer 03 Jun '01

03 Jun '01

Because I have problems with structured text input at the Wiki I ask here. We use isTokenFromCookie() and isTokenFromForm() to decide if we have to support hidden fields in forms or have to construct URLs containing the session id. It seems that both functions don't work as expected. Here a test document (standard_html_header contains a getSessionData() call): <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if "sdm.isTokenFromCookie()"> Token from Cookie <dtml-else> Token not from Cookie </dtml-if> <dtml-if "sdm.isTokenFromForm()"> Token from Form <dtml-else> Token not from Form </dtml-if> <dtml-if "sdm.isTokenNew()"> Token ist new <dtml-else> Token is not new </dtml-if> <dtml-var REQUEST> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> When I call my document with cookies enabled I get: ---------------------------------- Token not from Cookie Token not from Form Token is not new *form* *cookies* _lwZope5 '82915105Az0EYs.E2W4' ... ---------------------------------- This clearly shows that isTokenFromCookie() does not behave like documented because the token is in the cookie section of REQUEST. When I call the document with cookies *and* the id in the URL, I get: ---------------------------------- Token not from Cookie Token not from Form Token is not new *form* _lwZope5 '82915105Az0EYs.E2W4' *cookies* _lwZope5 '82915105Az0EYs.E2W4 ---------------------------------- Again both functions (isTokenFromForm() and isTokenFromCookie()) don't work like expected. The token is in the cookie section and in the form section of REQUEST. For completeness also the call with cookies disabled: ---------------------------------- Token not from Cookie Token not from Form Token is not new *form* _lwZope5 '82915105Az0EYs.E2W4 ---------------------------------- The result is the same as above. Any hints what to do except hacking CoreSessions? :) Is it a bug or a misunderstanding of the documentation? Regards, Frank

Advice on Zope course curriculum
by Butch Landingin 03 Jun '01

03 Jun '01

Hi all, I've been offered the chance to formulate and teach a Zope course for a Philippine-based OpenSource non-profit foundation so I've been trying to come up with a course curriculum for it. I've taken a look at some of the course outlines of the Zope courses being offered (I've seen Kaivo's 2 courses and another one from Ronsnet(?)). I haven't been able to access beehive's (for some reason, I can't access their website) Since I don't think I'll be competing with any of those companies anytime soon... (I don't think any of those companies are in a rush to come here and to start offering courses in the Philippines -- especially since an armed terrorist group just kidnapped 3 americans and 17 other locals a few days ago):^( ... I was wondering if any of you who have been involved with giving (and those taking, as well) those courses, to share with me your opinions, pointers, advice etc. I've already formulated a draft course outline based on Michel's and Amos'es "Zope Book" (which I intend to use as the main textbook) but I also like the format of the Kaivo course... It might be better for those interested in responding to just email me privately as I would prefer take this offlist... Thanks in advance and best regards, Butch Landingin butchland(a)yahoo.com PS. There isn't a hidden zope-edu list out there that I'm not aware of, is there? ;^) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! by Karl Munroe 03 Jun '01

Hey all, can I have the Zope server use a different port for accessing the management interface. A port that is different than the one that deals with http requests like so. http://mysite.server.com/mange will redirect the the request or return and error. to get to the management interfafe I have to http://mysite.server.com:5634/mange I was drinking coffee eating donuts when I had this strange thought. thanks in advance Karl Munroe.

searching keywords with AND
by marc lindahl 03 Jun '01

03 Jun '01

This construct seems to work: <dtml-in "portal_catalog.searchResults( {'meta_type' : 'News Item' ,'Subject': 's1' ,'Subject': 's2'' ,'Subject': 's3' ,'Subject': 's4'} , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , review_state='published' )" size="10"> seems to return something that has Subject keywords s1 AND s2 AND s3 AND s4 (and in this example, meta_type=='News Item') -- unless I'm not testing it correctly! Feedback?

I want to script in Python and not Zope-Python

I want FULL python > power within zope. Zope offers three levels of Python support: - Through-the-web code (DTML expressions, PythonScripts) have access to a restricted set of the Python library; consider the potential for harm, for instance, in exposing the 'sys' or 'os' modules to untrusted users. You can selectively extend the modules exposed to TTW code (PythonScripts only in 2.3x; all TTW code in 2.4) by "decorating" them with ModuleSecurityInformation assertions; see the README in the PythonScript product for a how-to. - External methods have access to the full library, but can't create new persistent classes (because the pickling machinery won't be able to find them). - Filesystem-based Python produts are "da bomb"; they can do anything (including modify the set of modules visible to TTW code, perform hotfix patches to code in the Zope core, etc.). Given your Pythonic bent, I recommend investigating the last option. Importing zexps doesn't work, same error for all. Help?
by Jeff Kowalczyk 03 Jun '01

03 Jun '01

I have assembled several zexp archives in my import directory, and I'm trying to import them as products on my Zope2.3.2 running on win2k. Directory of C:\Program Files\WebSite\import 139,532 ZopeTutorialExamples.zexp 112,995 nolabox.zexp 17,162 FormulatorExamples.zexp 27,801 gdchartdemo.zexp 40,520 IForum.zexp 4,838 magictree.zexp 382,870 DemoLocalForum.zexp 45,399 TimeTracker.zexp 235,283 WikiForum.zexp With the exception of Iforum, they all do almost the same thing. I go to products | import/export | - enter exact name of a given zexp - try both ways of take/keep permissions, same result: The object FormulatorExamples does not support this operation Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_importObject) File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_importObject) File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\OFS\ObjectManager.py, line 565, in manage_importObject (Object: Traversable) File C:\PROGRA~1\WEBSITE\lib\python\OFS\CopySupport.py, line 444, in _verifyObjectPaste (Object: Traversable) Copy Error: (see above) What am I doing wrong? Are these imports having a version problem, such as being written for a version of Zope that had an earlier import API? Thanks.

Tutorial prod has 'open box' icon, others have 'closed box' what's the difference?
by Jeff Kowalczyk 03 Jun '01

03 Jun '01

Just a simple question as I navigate the learning curve of Zope. I followed the tutorial on creating the simple, searchable "JobBoard" product. http://www.zope.org/Members/mukhsein/job_board_howto And its icon in 'products' has what looks like an 'open box', while the others, built-ins and imports, have a closed box icon. What is that telling me, that I haven't set a distribution policy on my created JobBoard yet? Thanks
