Customizing / borrowing code from /manage/ screens
by Anders Schneiderman 31 May '01

31 May '01

I just started playing w/ Zope, and I'm trying to do a simple Intranet site to show my bosses what Zope can do. I like the way Zope handles content management through /manage/. I'd like to use a slightly customized, simpler version for our users. Is there an easy way to do this, either by customizing or borrowing existing code? Thanks, Anders Schneiderman SEIU International P.S. If this question has been answered elsewhere, just let me know where to look; I couldn't find it when I poked around, but I might not have known the right heading to seek.

zSQL syntax

I have a problem with a query, and I hope it's not a zope bug I have 2 tables 'tabdef_theme'[ntheme,valtheme] and 'tab_theme'[ntheme,ndoc] this query#1 works: SELECT t1.valtheme FROM tabdef_theme AS t1 , tab_theme AS t2 WHERE t2.ndoc =<dtml-var numero_doc> AND t1.ntheme = t2.ntheme GROUP BY t1.valtheme ORDER BY t1.valtheme and query#2 too: SELECT t1.ntheme FROM tabdef_theme AS t1 , tab_theme AS t2 WHERE t2.ndoc =<dtml-var numero_doc> AND t1.ntheme = t2.ntheme GROUP BY t1.valtheme ORDER BY t1.valtheme BUT this one query#3 SELECT t1.ntheme , t1.valtheme <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< FROM tabdef_theme AS t1 , tab_theme AS t2 WHERE t2.ndoc =<dtml-var numero_doc> AND t1.ntheme = t2.ntheme GROUP BY t1.valtheme ORDER BY t1.valtheme I get:  this seems to be the correct SQL syntax (from mySQL reference manual) I tried SELECT t2.ntheme , t1.valtheme SELECT * SELECT t1.* => nothing works ... THANX () / \ | <> | (____) zazen rules ... _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/

zope and mod_rewrite
by jacob walcik 31 May '01

i'm using zope w/ apache (fast_cgi if that's important) and trying to setup a series of virtual hosts. the virtual hosts themselves work just fine, as to the /image directories i've defined within them, however when i try and hit the virtualhost directly via the url "utilities.mycompany.com" it dumps me into the zope management interface at the root of the folder that i am trying to setup as the root of the virtual host. i'm pretty sure this is due to me screwing up this rewrite rule: RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/utilities.iensemble.com:80/utili… (that's all one line in the httpd.conf) i generated that based on the blurb the virtualhostmonster i created spat out. is there something obvious i've done wrong here? -- jacob walcik jwalcik(a)notwithstanding.org

differentiate dtml method from document
by dave＠kovach.com 31 May '01

31 May '01

Hi - Is there a suffix I can add to DTML Methods that would then be recognized by the ZODB upon creating an object externally like from within Dreamweaver? If I create an object externally and call it SOMEFILE.DTML - it is recognized as a DTML Document. Ok, good. But, now I want to create a file that will be recognized as a DTML METHOD. Any ideas? Thanks David Kovach

Though, if I have to ask - I probably shouldnt be asking... but what is PUT_factory? BTW, I find Homesite and the Zope Extensions for it to be the best editing solution thus far - using its FTP engine. No errors - no issues - no nonsense like Dreamweaver. It was acting pretty eratic with different files. Homesite = better. Just FYI. Still, need a way to differentiate between different objects. Would be nice. What in the ZODB tracks the TYPE of an object that is created there? I tried copying to duplicate a METHOD object and when I would go back into the ZMI it would not know what the object was? I figured at least if I could copy a METHOD in Homesite - delete its content - add new content and rename it - that ZODB would still recognize it as its original object type. But it didnt. SQLConnectionIDs() equivalent for SQL Methods?
by Andy Gimblett 31 May '01

31 May '01

Hi there, Short version: Is there something like SQLConnectionIDs() which picks up SQL Methods instead of SQL Connections? Long version: lib/python/Products/ZSQLMethods/SQL.py contains a function called SQLConnectionIDs(), which returns a list of SQL Connection objects between "here" and the top of the tree (in in the current folder or any of its parents). This is very handy for things like (from exUserFolder): <tr> <th>Database Connection:</th> <td> <select name="frontierauth_connection"> <dtml-in "SQLConnectionIDs()"> <option value="<dtml-var sequence-item>"> <dtml-var sequence-key></option> </dtml-in> </select> </td> </tr> What I want to do now is something very similar, but I want it to pick up SQL Methods, not SQL Connections. Does anyone know of such a thing? I know I can emulate/modify SQLConnectionIDs() using an external method if need be, I just don't want to reinvent the wheel if what I want is already there. :-) (PS: Really enjoying exUserFolder!) ContentIndexIcons
by Peter Bengtsson 31 May '01

31 May '01

Installed the ContentIndexIcons and it looks pretty promising, but does it only work for File meta_types? I uploaded an image with a pdf as the file and the content type or Image became application/pdf as expected, yet it had the Image icon instead of the ContentIndexIcons one. Is this a bug or is it meant to be or is there something I have to do to generate ContentIndexIcons icons on unlisted objects or something? Peter

Howto establish mysql connections in zope via python
by p.dejong＠melissendejong.nl 31 May '01

31 May '01

I want to establish a connection to a MySQL database via a python method. I get a authorisation error. Zope asks for a new username/password combination. All combinations that could apply are not correct. Moreover, the database does not require a password for this particular user. If I establish the same connection in Python, I get a connection.
