Getting on Zope to "talk" to another?
by Etienne Labuschagne 01 Jun '01

Hi all I have two external Python methods A and B. Python method A receives it's input from a posted form. Python method A must use Python method B to calculate some stuff for it. The only problem is that Python method B sits on another Zope machine. eg. http://myzopeserver/A?name=myName&surname=mySurname is the string that gets generated by the post form Now A does some of it's stuff, but is must get results from http://anotherzopeserver/B?personage=28 . I can probably build a string like the one above in method A and then use RESPONSE.redirect to "invoke" the method above, but what if the data that I must send to B is too big to fit in a GET type query (like above) and I must rather put it in a POST (it's actually an XML string that I want to send to the other server, it will respond with an XML string as answer.). How do I get the "form variables" generated by A into the POST, send it to B, get the response back from B and the do something with the response received from B? Any ideas on the best way to tackle this? Thanks Etienne

robots.txt
by Paz 01 Jun '01

01 Jun '01

Hi, Of course we all know about robots.txt, but I must say I havent created one in my zopeshop, yet, I see that crawlers are coming in and checking them out, with the 200 status. I don't have one in apache either which is my front-end, so where is it coming from? Does zope create on automatically? Will one that I create myself (DTML Document) in the root of zope be picked up? Thanks, Paz

Hi, I know this is kinda OT and kinda cross-post, so sue me... hehe. You can't because I live in a land where sueing is as taboo as sex is in the US... Anyhow to the point. I have busted my balls for quite a long time now to get my company's website up and running... All in Zope. I'm pretty proud of it and I'd like to say thanks to all of you who have helped this newbie out with Zope 'the world's greatest hack'... (sorry, couldn't help myself on that one..) http://shop.oratrix.nl is the url. Hope you like my effort. It's still buggy, and if people would like, send your insults to the list while I bow my head in shame. Cheers all, Paz

But, now I want to create a file that will be recognized > as a DTML METHOD. Zope doesn't care primarily about the suffix; its PUT handling (for WebDAV/FTP/HTTP PUTs) looks at the Content-Type header (if there is one; no such luch with FTP), and only reverts to guessing type from extension if it is not there. You can override the default behavior using the 'PUT_factory' hook, described at: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Proposals/HookablePUTCreation Essentially, you would drop in an ExternalMethod which did the name recognition you desired, e.g.:: # Implement the "hookable PUT" hook. import re, OFS.DTMLMethod NAME_PATTERN = re.compile( '^.*\.dtml$' ) def PUT_factory( self, name, typ, body ): """ """ if NAME_PATTERN.match( name ): return OFS.DTMLMethod.DTMLMethod( '', __name__=name ) return None Tres. -- =============================================================== Tres Seaver tseaver(a)digicool.com Digital Creations "Zope Dealers" http://www.zope.org

Your help doc seems - uh, helpful - can you give me alittle applied help on how to actually make it work. Me = Novice. Hi, I've just installed Zope, and when, as the user (with manager authority) I created using the inituser account, I try to add the tutorial, I get the message: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: The ZGadflyDA product must be installed! ZGadflyDA is in the Products list. It's in the right directory. Has the same permissions as other products. Can someone help me? Thanks, ==Leonard

How can I get the Content-Type of a file that has been uploaded with a form? example: <form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="myfile"> <input type="submit"> </form> when you upload a file with this form, the browser sends the Content-Type of "myfile" , the question is: How can I get that Content-Type information from zope? By the way, it's not REQUEST.CONTENT_TYPE, as this is set to multipart/form-data. any ideas?? Thanks Alex

Connecting a Zope-Server to a MySQL-Server
by Horst Wald 01 Jun '01

01 Jun '01

Hi! I'm trying to get a Zope-Server to work with a remote MySQL-Server (both Suse-Linux, but I could use Windows2000 as a Zope Server if necessary) - and that seems to be a hell of a problem. Until now everything went fairly easy, but now I seem to have to: - install Python 1.5 or greater first (how do I do that?) - ensure that I have MySQL installed on your machine, INCLUDING THE FILES AND LIBRARIES NECESSARY TO DEVELOP MySQL APPLICATIONS (but I don't know what these F&L's are and I need the MySQL-Server on a remote machine) - build Zope from source - download and install MySQLdb, a newer driver to MySQL than the one that comes with ZMySQLDA - patch ZMySQLDA: copy ZMySQLDA.patch to the top-level zope dir and then patch -p1 <ZMySQLDA.patch it (what does that mean?) Isn't there an easier way? Confused Horst _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

zwiki install help
by dave＠kovach.com 01 Jun '01

01 Jun '01

Ok, I have exhausted the help and archive documents... what is the deal with installing the zwiki product and zwikiwebs product? Can someone give me the exact steps and what version of zope and what version of python I need? I am not sure I follow the whole procedure, but I end up with broken object links when trying to add a wiki. But I am sure I am not installing things right. Sometimes to do the smallest of small things requires so much effort.. wow. Thank you. Sincerely, David
