Dtml-in objectItems
by Paul Zwarts 25 May '01

25 May '01

Morning all, I cannot make this code work: <dtml-with Interop> <dtml-in expr="objectItems('Interop')"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> I've been searching for hours now in the list and site, but I've found nothing that tells me why I get a blank page when I'm trying to list the objects in the Folder Interop.... This snippet of code is in the same directory as the Interop folder... which has a bunch of folders and files in it. Can anyone help with this supposedly blatantly simple piece of code? Thanks, Paz

Vote for Windowing Toolkit to use for Fat Client

I'm not sure if this counts since it uses wxpython, but it already has some support for zope. The project is still moving forward. The zope support needs some more documentation. jimbo http://sourceforge.net/projects/boa-constructor/

[Q] thread option in Python
by YOON, Joo-Yung 25 May '01

25 May '01

I built zope from source, but it acts strange. When I make any change in the Zope management screen, it works, but I can not see the change (e.g. newly added folder) on the screen. So, I would like to know what happens to Zope if Python was not built with --with-thread option. joo-yung

[ANN] ZShell 1.0 Final
by Jerome Alet 25 May '01

25 May '01

Hi, I'm pleased to announce the awaited availability of ZShell 1.0 Final. ZShell is an external Zope method which allows you to manipulate the ZODB using standard unix shell's commands from within Zope's Management Interface in your web browser. ZShell is licensed under the GNU General Public Licence, with some clarifications of my own concerning it's use with Zope. You can download it from: http://cortex.unice.fr/~jerome/zshell/ New features are: ================= - The history command now works, please read its help. - The lsperms command now works. - The setperms command now works. - The lsusers command output was made cleaner. - The locate command was removed until post-1.0, because I don't know enough about ZCatalog searching yet. - about command modified, and source comments modified wrt the GNU GPL. Credits: ======== This couldn't have happened without the help of the following people: Peter Bengtsson Simon Michael Jason Cunliffe Michel Pelletier Godefroid Chapelle Laurent Pierron Toby Dickenson Jim Penny Many thanks to them ! Post 1.0 plans: =============== - Make most commands recognize options, the most useful options would certainely be: --recurse and --maxdepth --hasperms= --type= --mtime= --mmin= --owner= ... Finishing and factorising the do_find() code should do it. - Add the locate command to search in ZCatalogs. - Create a ZShell Zope product, to allow people to create ZShell scripts, just like Python Scripts or DTML Methods. - Piping between commands. - Set up a webpage, CVS access, and mailing list somewhere (SourceForge ?). - Create a test suite (it's a joke). Feel free to send any feedback, especially if you like or don't like features, or if you want to help in some way. Enjoy ! Jerome Alet - alet(a)unice.fr

[ANN] ZShell 1.0pre3
by Jerome Alet 25 May '01

25 May '01

Hi, I'm pleased to announce the availability of ZShell 1.0pre3. ZShell is an external Zope method which allows you to manipulate the ZODB using standard unix shell's commands from within Zope's Management Interface in your web browser. ZShell is licensed under the GNU General Public Licence, with some clarifications of my own concerning it's use with Zope. You can download it from: http://cortex.unice.fr/~jerome/zshell/ New features are: ================= * view, manage and properties now work fine. * Modification time format in ls output is shorter. * The dump command works. * wget now handles local files and directories correctly. * suckfs will never exist because wget now can do that, and more... * Added some urls to the GNU GPL FAQ, backing my position. * DocStrings fixes. Apart from the fixes, the most interesting things in this version are: * you can now suck files or directories (not recursively yet) from the server's filesystem into the ZODB, using wget. * you can now dump objects' source to the server's filesystem using the dump command. However only objects which have a callable document_src attribute are dumpable, yet. This means, essentially: DTML Methods, DTML Documents, Python Scripts. Thanks to all the people who helped to make this happen, especially Jim Penny who gave the dump command idea, but I've just realised I've forgotten to put his name in the CREDITS file... (it's a TODO for the next version) As usual, comments, patches, bug reports, etc... are welcome. Jerome Alet - alet(a)unice.fr

The main problem that we've been having is that without file extensions .htm etc. Dreamweaver will not render the html document as WYSIWYG. Is it possible to get Dreameweaver to render withou the file extensions? I'm thinking not. Cheers David Legg,

"subforlder" question - on Guest Book example (ZopeBook)
by Luca Manini 25 May '01

25 May '01

Hi, I'm trying my first stuff with Zope, following the ZopeBook's examples. Now I'm trying the obviously important feature of letting (Anonymous) users add and list "messages", so I'm studing the Guest Book example that has a simple index_html (with the natural loop on the users' messages), and the standard Form + Action + Script stuff for adding messages. Users' messages are added in the same folder where the "machinery" is, but I would prefere to have them in a "Entries" subforder. My question is: how should I do that. The solution I've found is to change the original add Script (to be found at this message's end) to accept and additional parameter (the subfolder) and to change all the references to "context" to that parameter. That works, but I feel I can (and should?) get the same effect just by rearranging the way the GusetFolder is organized and let acquisition do the magic of having the subfolder to be "passed" as context. Any hint? TIA, Luca. -------------------- addEntryAction (DTML Method) <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-call expr="addEntry(guest_name, comments)"> <h1>Thanks for signing our guest book!</h1> <p><a href="<dtml-var URL1>">Return</a> to the guest book.</p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> -------------------- addEntry (Script) """ Create a guest book entry. """ # create a unique document id id='entry_%d' % len(context.objectIds()) # create the document context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addDTMLDocument(id, title="", file=comments) # add a guest_name string property doc=getattr(context, id) doc.manage_addProperty('guest_name', guest_name, 'string')
