Strange Cut/Paste or Copy/Paste or Import/Export behavior

Hi all, I have to containers old_container and new_container that accept objects of the same type. The two containers are actually instances of different classes in the same product. I want to move all the objects from old_container to new_container. I have tried with only one object: 1. To move it with a simple Cut/Paste operation through ZMI: the object is moved successfully, but has missing properties 2. I have used Import/Export to move the same object: the object is imported successfully, but also has missing properties 3. Even tried a simple Copy/Paste: same result, no errors but missing properties Basically, the code for the object to be moved is like this: class Country(Discussion, Folder): _properties = ( Discussion._properties + ( {'id': 'body', 'type': 'text', 'mode': 'w'}, ) ) def __init__(self, id, title, body, comments, flg_notify): self.id = id self.title = title self.body = body Discussion.__dict__['__init__'](self, comments, flg_notify) def check_properties(self): """ """ print hasattr(self, 'body') print hasattr(self, 'comments') and class Discussion: _properties = ( ( {'id': 'comments', 'type': 'int', 'mode': 'w'}, {'id': 'flg_notify', 'type': 'int', 'mode': 'w'}, ) ) def __init__(self, comments, flg_notify): self.comments = comments self.flg_notify = flg_notify If i run the method check_properties before move/copy/import it prints True+True. After step 1/2/3 the result is True+False. So the missing property is 'comments', that comes from the extended class Discussion. Hi there, I try to set up Zope with Shibboleth SSO. Therefore I need to delegate authentication to Apache which should then pass the REMOTE_USER environment variable to Zope. Am I understanding right, that for this purpose I have to use the not so recommended fastcgi configuration? With the recommended RewriteRule I successfully receive the HTTP_REMOTE_USER header var in the REQUEST object, but not the REMOTE_USER environment variable. However, going this route would mean messing with the existing code, which uses REMOTE_USER currently set by Zope. I appreciate any help. AUTHENTICATED_USER

Please could someone tell me why AUTHENTICATED_USER was deprecated in favour of the python security module? A quick google says "because it can be replaced"..but this isn't really a good in depth explanation? If a request was manipulated to include another AUTHENTICATED_USER, wouldn't Zope just error out anyway? Cheers

Zope Dates

Hello all Hoping there is a quick fix for this - I'm trying to change how Zope formats dates. I want dd/mm/yyyy but Zope is forcing yyyy-mm-dd. I've changed the format in zope.conf to 'international' but this makes no difference. I know dates can be formatted at the front end (i.e. fmt=) but it would be really useful to have Zope sort this out for me without having to do any string formatting. Any ideas? Thanks Richard

Running Tests on my Zope Product in Zope 2.13

Hello again Zopistas! While I am on the topic of Zope 2.13, could someone please tell me how I can run my tests on my (old style, not egg) Zope Products in Zope 2.13? It seems that `zopectl test` went away without leaving more than a note on the tab^W^W^Win the CHANGES.txt log: "Removed the test command from zopectl. The test.py script it was relying on does no longer exist." So, how do I run my tests now? Thanks for any hints! Regards, Sascha

CatalogPathAwareness and zope.lifecycle

Hello Zopistas, as I was just testing moving a big, old application to Zope 2.13, I was greeted with the following error: (...) from Products.ZCatalog.CatalogPathAwareness import CatalogPathAware ImportError: cannot import name CatalogPathAware Looking at the code informs me that CatalogPathAwareness is deprecated, but wouldn't that mean that it should still be there? Next part of the question: Looking at http://pypi.python.org/pypi/zope.lifecycleevent I see some examples about calling those notify() events, but nothing that would tell me how to replace CatalogPathAware with this stuff. Googling for [CatalogPathAware zope.lifecycleevent] does not give me anything besides some SVN commit messages. So, anybody have some examples of doing this? Specifically an example for replacing CatalogPathAware with zope.lifecycleevent. Since this is what the depreciation message talks about, it's been done many times over and should be well documented, right? I also hope that developers are aware that this change involves changing the base classes that classes in production systems out there are based on. Thank you very much, Regards, Sascha
