Management of HEAD requests

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Using Zope 2.10 here. When making a HEAD request, I get the "last-modified" time of the script, and an "application/octet-stream" content type. The content length is the script length. When doing a GET request, I get a "last-modified" time of "now" and a "text/html" content type. And the length is correct here. As far as I know, the HEAD doesn't reach the script, it is processed inside Zope. I would rather prefer to actually process the script but give back only the headers. That is, my problem is that HEAD and GET of the same object provide completely different information about different objects (HEAD gives info about the actual script, GET gives info of the script output). This could be even a privacy issue, giving out script details people don't need to know. Is there any way to override this?. Suggestion? I have issues, for instance, managing RSS feeds, since some clients do a HEAD request instead of a conditional GET, for detecting new entries. Thanks in advance, folks. List, Let me request your patience and time, I am a zope newbe trying to get some light in the darkness. I am trying to learn zope2 for the last couple of months, reading and doing zope2 documentations and sample file based python product developments. I know Zope s advanced a lot more than a decade(and zope3 / bluebream is the there now) but I just started few months back, sorry for my ignorance and lack of opportunity to start at the early stage. I have gone through zope2 docs and other tutorials on zope, and tried a couple of file base zope products. But I am unable to find/ do a complete user registration module for zope sites. and small session handling applications like a shopping cart which use session management techniques. 1 how zope.org is doing user login/register/password retrieval module, or how people like you add a user registration/login/password retrieval module for your zope sites. I searched a lot and learned the acl_users folder properites, and can do manually add users with these code excerpts. self.manage_addUserFolder() self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user1', 'passwd', ['Member','Admin'], [] ) self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user2', 'passwd', ['Member', 'Managers'], [] ) self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user3', 'passwd', ['Member', 'Manager','Admin'], []) etc. but unable to do a user registration module using acl_users and its web interface . By reading BetaBoring and some other tutorials in upfront systems zope course, devshed.com tutorials I think I am in the right track of zope2 learning. 2. I have done a sample application, but I dont know how to clear the normal zope user credentials when a sample user clicks a logout link here some sample code : I added an anchor <a href ="logout" > Logout </a> tag for logout in my pageTemplate name as myPage.zpt from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo security = ClassSecurityInfo() security.declareProtected('adminroles', 'myPage') myPage = PageTemplateFile( os.path.join('views', 'myPage.zpt'), globals()) and I added few sample users such as user1, user2, user3 etc to acl_users with sample password 'passwd' self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user1', 'passwd', ['Member','Admin'], [] ) self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user2', 'passwd', ['Member', 'Managers'], [] ) self.acl_users.userFolderAddUser('user3', 'passwd', ['Member', 'Manager','Admin'], []) and when I access the protected page 'myPage' it asks me for acl_user credentials and I am able to enter sample users and password and it allows me to view the page 'myPage' But problem when I click the Logout Link in the myPage( <a href="logout"> Logout</a>) then it call a logout.zpt page template there I display a message you logged out , and return the login.zpt page. but in the login.zpt page if you enter anything I mean garbage for username and password field it allows to view the myPage.( this happens once you logged in first time with the credentials). How to clear these zope acl_users credentials once you click the logout link which in turn call a logout.zpt template. If you have some sample / demo applications to show how to do these issues, can you share me those. I am stuck in this point in zope. if any such application code/related works to follow it will help me a lot. Thank You kkchn

Fix for garbled saves of UTF8 TTW PageTemplates and emacs over ftp

Hi, if you edit TTW PageTemplates through emacs over ftp, you may encouter your UTF8 String garbled after a save. try adding: <meta tal:replace="nothing" http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" /> at the top of the page. Helped me. - Andreas

FYI, I was able to successfully remove the cross storage reference in the root of my main Zope database by explicitly setting the missing database connection to a hacked DummyConnection instance. ZODB Key error in root Zope database

We've got a bit of a situation... We run Zope 2.11 with a main ZODB and a few dozen separate file storages for sub-sites. Occasionally, we've encountered the problem where a cut-and-paste occurs between storages and upon a pack results in a key error. Normally, we avoid this because the FileStorages represent individual sites. Last night something happened where a script was cut-and-pasted from one of the sub-storages into the main, root-level, database. Upon a restart we encountered a key error: File "/var/local/zope/Zope-2.11.4-1/lib/python/ZODB/Connection.py", line 361, in get_connection new_con = self._db.databases[database_name].open( KeyError: 'site1' Normally, we've encountered these errors when a database is packed and the solution is to revert to a pre-pack database and remove or fix the offending object. In this case, we can't even start Zope or mount the storage in a script to remove the offending items. Before I go on, I found that ZODB 3.9 provides options to disallow cross-database references and we'll work to get to this version during our next upgrade cycle. In the mean time we've reverted to a previous backup prior to the offending object being placed in the root database. This resulted in about 200 MB of data loss. I would like a way to mount the corrupted database and attempt to determine exactly what was lost. Can't access the database. We've tried using _setOb to replace the object. Any suggestions? It seems as though it needs to be able to access _objects before it mounts the mounted databases. Forcing zope to preload objects in cache

Hi all. I've a Zope application; response time in the application is quite different if the cache is already loaded with data from the ZODB (a Data.fs served over ZEO). The Zope/ZEO server is restarted every night, so, the cache is emptied every night, and the first users to access the objects in the morning suffer from longer response times. I'd like to force Zope to reload the cache; of course, I could access various pages using a wget or something liket that; but how can I force Zope to 'fill' all connections, and just one? MemoryError: out of memory

Hi Comunity, I have been in troubles with Zope2.10.5-final since 4 moths ago, related to the "MemoryError: out of memory" (in the event.log), every three or fourth days (more or less) the Zope starts to say in our web: value error: Memory, and stops to serve some pages (not all), usually the pages that serve file contents (to download, convert to pdf or view online). I solve the problem (when appears) by rebooting the zope server, but its not a solutions, because I dont know when the error its coming ¿Can you help me to giving me some light to solve the problem? I have 2gb of RAM, and the server (FreeBSD) it says no-overloaded, just have 2 services, web(zope) and database(mysql). I think its something related to the cache memory or kind of (I changed some values in config file but not success).
