DTML method with input
by Sebal 17 Apr '01

17 Apr '01

First I'd like to thanx Dieter Maurer for his last help [I deleted all the installation, and reinstall an updated one -> OK] I have a DTML method [frame] like <dtml-var standard_html_header> <TABLE> <TR><TD> ...</TD></TR> <TR><TD><dtml-var fiche></TD></TR> <TR><TD> ...</TD></TR> </TABLE> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> where <dtml-var fiche> is another DTML method Now I have several 'fiche' and I'd like the [frame method] to be able to print the right 'fiche' when you've clicked on links. Imagine there's an index of 'fiche' and only one [frame method]. I tried with the dtml-let tag but it's not a simple solution (not a solution at all) : how can I use a test to put the good data in the TABLE? If you have an idea ( simple one) ... feel free to answer. RE: [Zope] ZEO
by Dunigan, Craig 17 Apr '01

17 Apr '01

Copy the files from lib/python/ZEO/misc (except the readme) into your Zope root. Edit 'custom_zodb.py', changing the line if 0: # Change the 0 to 1 to enable! to if 1: # Change the 0 to 1 to enable! and the lines Storage=ZEO.ClientStorage.ClientStorage( os.path.join(INSTANCE_HOME, 'var', 'zeo.soc'), # If no name is given, then connection info will be shown: name="ZEO Storage", # You can specify the storage name, which defaults to "1": ) to Storage=ZEO.ClientStorage.ClientStorage( connection=("xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx", 8800), # os.path.join(INSTANCE_HOME, 'var', 'zeo.soc'), # If no name is given, then connection info will be shown: name="ZEO Storage", # You can specify the storage name, which defaults to "1": storage="1", ) where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of your ZEO server. It's apparently possible to do this using Unix sockets as well, but I don't know how! :) Edit 'start_zeo', changing the lines exec python $reldir/lib/python/ZEO/start.py \ -U $reldir/var/zeo.soc \ to exec python $reldir/lib/python/ZEO/start.py -p 8800 \ # -U $reldir/var/zeo.soc \ You can change the port number '8800' if you choose, as long as it's the same everywhere and doesn't conflict with another port. After editing, make 'start_zeo' and 'stop_zeo' executable. Since I'm not using sockets, I simply comment those lines out. At my site, I run Zope under the username 'zope', but I start it as root, so my Zope 'start' script looks like this: #! /bin/sh reldir=`dirname $0` PYTHONHOME=`cd $reldir; pwd` export PYTHONHOME exec /path-to-zope/bin/python \ $PYTHONHOME/z2.py \ "$@" -u zope -w 80 -f 21 \ ZEO_CLIENT=8800 The last line is the only thing relevant to ZEO. Add it to your 'start' script, and you should be fine. Start ZEO first with 'start_zeo' run as zope, then start Zope with 'start' run as root. Modify the usernames to fit your installation. You can verify that everyone is running properly and talking to each other by starting Zope on each server with the -D switch. That'll send startup and failure messages to the console, instead of detaching the process. There are some startup messages verifying that Zope has connected to its storage, that'll be your cue that all is well. Don't run Zope in production with the -D switch, though. Hope this helps! Delete a DTML-document
by Frank Zorge 17 Apr '01

17 Apr '01

Hi, Does anybody know how to delete (one or more) DTML-document(s) in a folder via DTML or Python (in a pythonscript) and not via the manager interface. Or maybe where I can find documentation about it. It's not in the howto's or on the mailinglist. zope + sql

I display the results of the query, and each record has an 'approved' field that may be set to 0 or 1. The SQL method to do this looks like: Parameters: fldId fldApproved:int=1 Body: UPDATE O_Fixtures SET fldApproved = <dtml-sqlvar fldApproved type=int> <dtml-sqlgroup where required> <dtml-sqltest fldId multiple type=int> </dtml-sqlgroup> The form displays each record, and includes one column in the output that looks like: <dtml-unless fldApproved> <td><INPUT type=checkbox name="fldId:List" value="&dtml-fldId;"></td> </dtml-unless> The primary key for each database entry is the value fldId. When the form is submitted it includes a variable fldId which is a list of the ids of all records to be updated. The SQL method will expand to apply the update to a single record or all the selected records as appropriate. for example, if record 2 is selected the SQL looks like this: UPDATE O_Fixtures SET fldApproved = 1 where fldId = 2 but if records 2, 3, and 4 are selected the SQL looks like: UPDATE O_Fixtures SET fldApproved = 1 where fldId in (2, 3, 4) -- Duncan Booth duncan(a)dales.rmplc.co.uk int month(char *p){return(124864/((p[0]+p[1]-p[2]&0x1f)+1)%12)["\5\x8\3" "\6\7\xb\1\x9\xa\2\0\4"];} // Who said my code was obscure? http://dales.rmplc.co.uk/Duncan

Growing Refcounts
by Juan Carlos Coruña 17 Apr '01

17 Apr '01

Hello all! I'm requesting a Zope server through xmlrpc every 3 seconds. If I look at the debug information I can see that the refcounts of xmlrpclib.Unmarshaller and xmlrpc.FastParser grows: Class April 17, 2001 11:28 am April 17, 2001 11:57 am Delta xmlrpclib.Unmarshaller 2927 9655 +6728 xmlrpclib.FastParser 1465 4829 +3364 Is there a memory leak in Zope?

Re: Broken Pipe again

Hi Luiz, I'd like to try to continue including the list on this conversation. The pattern you've observed isn't really enough to go on... if Zope is dying during a request, that log script thingy should show you that fact... but if you say that it happens every morning, on any link you click on... well... I'm not sure. ;-) Did I already ask you to send object reference information from the debug screen of the control panel? If not, could you send it (preferably before you go home for the night, before it crashes, but after it's been running for a while). Thanks! - C ----- Original Message ----- From: Luiz Antonio B. See if there's a pattern. > Well Chris, I did that. Nothing but dots from the log. Here goes another strange thing that may help solve this: Currently, I´m the only one working on that zope. I work all day long with no problems (except that exceptions poping up on the console side), but EVERY morning, when I start to work with it, click on the view tab and then click on any link, the server dies. So, I start it up again, click on the view, then on the same link again and "voilá", it works fine until next morning. What could be happening?

zope + sql
by William Herring 17 Apr '01

17 Apr '01

I hope someone has an example or suggestion. Using Znolk, I SELECT from a table and the list is viewed. However, I would like to choose certain records (mark them from the viewed list) and then change a variable of only the marked records to a single new value. The new and old variable values are finite, they could come from a pull down list. So the idea would be to show the list from SELECT, but have an pull-down menu of new values at the top of the page that should be replaced for the variable to edit. The user would choose the new value from the pull-down and then go down the page and mark each record for which that value would be UPDATEed in the table Once this is done the values would be passed back to sql and UPDATE used to replace the old values. I'm not quite sure how to do this either. Do you have a loop, where inside the loop the UPDATE is goes through each marked record, or do you loop inside the UPDATE tablename set variable=newvalue where ----loop here with or's------ Any suggestions or similar examples would be appreciated. -- ======================================== William Herring Beef Cattle Genetics S-132 Animal Science Research Center University of Missouri, Columbia 65211 voice:573.884.6860 fax:573.882.4798 ========================================
