Listing objects in a specifik folder
by Gitte Wange 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

Hello, I am working on a site and I need to list all documents in a specifik folder. There is just one problem - the folder isn't in the REQUEST. Now it is a subfolder to my "mainfolder". It is called About. If I say <dtml-if /mainfolder/About> <dtml-in /mainfolder/About> it never shows up. If I let out the <dtml-if> tag I get a key error ... Anything I have misunderstood ? are you running any kind of proxy or gateway software on the box? 8080 is a common port for proxies. FrontPage PWS also uses port 8080. >>>-----Original Message----- >>>From: Paul Browning [mailto:paul.browning@bristol.ac.uk] >>>Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2001 4:32 PM >>>To: zope(a)zope.org >>>Subject: [Zope] Continuing Woe with Win98 (but Zope V1.10.3 works!) >>> >>> >>> >>>A while back I reported a problem with Zope under Win98. How to iterate over lists within properties?
by Ausum 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

I have documents that need to store a list of values within one or more of its properties, and then be able to retrieve those values through a dtml-in procedure. The lines property type is the right choice to store this list, but I haven't found how to append values to it nor how to iterate those values. About the latest, and after tried it, it looks like objectItems() nor objectValues() will work. Anyway, this is what I thought it would do the job, but it didn't: <dtml-with "dtml_document.line_property_id"> <dtml-in objectValues()> <dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> Am I missing something? Is there a workaround other than using folders instead of documents? Thanks in advance, Ausum

CatalogAware when there's no 'Catalog'
by Timothy Wilson 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

Hi everyone, It seems like it's not possible to create a CatalogAware ZClass that automatically catalogs itself in anything other than a ZCatalog named 'Catalog'. Is that the case? Does a rule of thumb exist to help decide when you should us a 'Catalog' in your Zope's root folder and when it would be better to use a custom 'FooCatalog' in a subfolder somewhere for specific purposes. For example, I've created a catalogaware ZClass to store breakfast and lunch menus for our schools. I'd like to query a ZCatalog somewhere to pull out a menu for a certain day or a range of days. Would it promote catalog-bloat (if such a thing exists) to store those in the root 'Catalog' with all of the resulting indexes and meta data? -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/ | http://www.zope.org/ W. localhost can be misleading. it's even worse in a hybrid network using WINS/DNS. From my experience I don't start it as a service that way I can see the DOS box. Normally I can see what port and the name of the machine when I start zope. You might have a name resolution problem so I would try using http://machinename:8080 or http://127.0.0.1:8080. Also assuming you have TCP/IP properly initialized on that machine. If everything still seems in order you either try debug mode or run a freeware port scanner on the machine to see if that port is already open. What do you use for document management?
by Loren Stafford 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

I need to implement/acquire a document management system (for chip engineering docs) that works well with Zope. I have no experience in the field of DMS, so can someone point me in a good direction. I know there are humongous packages available for megabucks, but my company is not in a position to pay for one of those. I'm hoping for a more modest solution both in scope and cost -- would OpenSource be too much to hope for? -- Loren

newbie: cannot connect to localhost after installing
by David Little 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

I have installed 2.3.1 & zserver from the rpm on Mandrake 7.2 (freq) running "/etc/init.d/zope start" as root seems to work. In the browser "http://localhost:8080/manage" results in an error message "cannot connect to localhost" But there is a kpm process 542 zope /usr/bin/python z2.py -u zope -z /usr/share/zope -Z /var/run/zwatchdog.pid -w 8080 -f 8021 -m -l /var/log/zope which presumably means the zserver is running on 8080 Any suggestions? -- David Little
