dtml-in --> sequence
by After Dark 07 Apr '01

07 Apr '01

Hi, I`m trying to delete some objects(folders/files), but I`m having some problems with sequence-... I`m trying to use manage_delObjects()... I made a list of sequence-item with a <dtml-in "Folder.objectValues()">, can I pass this list like an argument to manage_delObjects? Like <dtml-call "manage_delObjects(list)"> I think I a little confused with <sequence-..>, when I make a list like that (objectValues of a folder), do I have the object in <sequence-item>? If I make sequence-var-title, is it going to return the title? --> Because it`s giving error. Or I just have the id and I have to make _.getitem(sequence-item).title? I tryed to compare the sequence-item variable and returned error too... : <dtml-if "sequence-item=='test'"> By. ________________________________________________ Don't E-Mail, ZipMail! http://www.zipmail.com/

RAD with 'mk-zprod'
by vio 07 Apr '01

This RAD tool for Zope looks very interesting. But I couldn't find any reference whatsoever regarding it on this list. Is anybody using it ?? Second question, same topic: could someone tell me WHERE exactly do I paste the make_action() code . The README file is not at all clear on this point, IMHO. Let's say I succesfully generated Zope code for a Product called "myProduct" and copied that directory to 'zope/lib/python/Products/myProduct'. Then I pasted the make_action() code from 'mk-prod/tmpl/example-code.txt' inside file "Products/myProduct./myProduct.py" (inside "class myProduct" source). Well, Zope restarts OK and I see my new Product in the "Add" list. But when I attempt to add a first myProduct object, Zope gives me "NameError: make_action". I interpret this error message as it didn't find make_action(). So, any idea in what file make_action() code must go ? Regards - Vio

RE: [Zope] kerberos ?
by Mayers, Philip J 07 Apr '01

Yes - There's a pam module for Python, and with PythonScripts, External methods and a LoginManager setup, I got it working. Quite slow, which is fine if you only authenticate once, but not if you do it on every HTTP request. (Note: I never bothered to check if LoginManager does once-only or per-request HTTP auth - I only did it as a five minute test, and a quick check on the machine shows that the logs have rotated out :o() The PAM module for Python can be found at www.python.org, go to Search, in the Vaults of Parnassus link type PAM. I'm not sure the ticket you got could be put to any sensible use though... Maybe... Hmm, just had a thought... Zope restarting -- is it same as recently discovered problem?
by Ron Bickers 07 Apr '01

07 Apr '01

Here's what I've been getting in my stupid log file from every few hours to every day-ish since I upgraded to 2.3.1. This was never a problem with 2.3.0 or before, and the load is very little -- maybe one request every few seconds. It's a fresh source install of 2.3.1 on Linux using the previous Data.fs. Any clue if this is the same issue as was recently discovered with Zope crashing? There was no abnormal activity in the detailed log file. ------ 2001-04-06T21:31:50 ERROR(200) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Apr 6 17:31:50 2001: Aiieee! 16895 exited with error code: 11 ------ 2001-04-06T21:31:50 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Apr 6 17:31:50 2001: Houston, we have forked ------ 2001-04-06T21:31:50 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Apr 6 17:31:50 2001: Hi, I just forked off a kid: 9916 ------ 2001-04-06T21:31:50 INFO(0) zdaemon zdaemon: Fri Apr 6 17:31:50 2001: Houston, we have forked ------ _______________________ Ron Bickers Logic Etc, Inc. rbickers(a)logicetc.com

Put Jolt Award logo on zope.org?
by Hamish Lawson 07 Apr '01

07 Apr '01

Might the good people at DC want to display the Jolt Award Finalist logo on zope.org? Or they may choose to wait a few days and see whether they get to display a Jolt Award Winner logo instead! The Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards are given by "Software Development" magazine to products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the difficult task of creating corporate software faster, easier and more efficient. This year's winners will be announced at this coming week's SD West conference. http://www.sdmagazine.com/features/jolts/ Python was a winner last year. Verrryy strange behavior (NameError)
by Andrew Athan 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

I'm getting an intermittent NameError trying to access a variable set in the external scope of LoginManager.py . I call my variable _x and set it directly above where _LogginInUser gets set. I then try to access it directly above a line that accesses _LoggingInUser gets accessed. I just do a simple print 'testing=%s'%_x. I get an exception. The line that accesses _LoggingInUser doesn't. What gives? Now get this ... if I change the name to (13x's) _xxxxxxxxxxxxx , it works. If I then change the name to (6x's) _xxxxxx, it continues to work. If I then change the name to (3x's) _xxx, it continues to work. (2x's) _xx works (1x's) _x doesn't work!!!! If I change the line near the top of the file from _xx='sss' to _xx=0 and change the print to use a %d I get the NameError. If I change the line back to _xx='sss' and the print back to a %s I continue to get the NameError ... even though that exact combination had worked a minute before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I then change the variable back to have 13x's it starts working again. Is there some deep problem with the python byte compiler or access control mangling features of Zope? Or am I missing something stupid? What in the world is going on? A. Security management for groupware
by Eric BARROCA 06 Apr '01

06 Apr '01

Hello, I'd like to set up a zope server to build simple workgroup management tool. I'd like to have this kind of configuration : - a folder (called for example 'projectI') is owned by 'boss', its manager. - boss can fully manage the folder (add/modify/delete any file) - some users (having the role 'member' in 'projectI' folder) can add files (document, files and images) - an user having the role 'member' can view all files but can only files owned by himself I'm trying to set this up but I can't figure out how to set the permissions of the role 'member'. I've tried many configuration but if an user can add files, he can modify and delete other's files, so... it's a big problem ! :-) Anyone has already managed to do that ? I'm sure it possible but I certainly missed something. I've done some search in ML archives whithout success. Thanks for your help, EB. -- Eric BARROCA <eric(a)netsystems.fr>
