Hi, Trying to create a PageTemplates object I got the following error : It seems that TAL is not correctly installed as I read it on the mailing-list, I tried many things but with no success. SO, Where to put TAL Directory, in <Zope2>/lib/python ? What is the path file name to create : 'path' or '.pth' or TAL.pth' ? Which string should be present in this path file, '<Zope2>/lib/python'? Where to put this path file ? Remark : I use PageTemplates-1.0, TAL-1.0, ParsedXML-1.0, Zope-2.3.1 FRC Zope Error ========= Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. keeping zope running after closing ssh conection
by David Kelly 01 Apr '01

01 Apr '01

I have just installed zope on a linux ix86 box remotely using ssh...all went perfectly, managed to start zope and connect up to the control panel...all when my ssh connection was still open...as soon as I stopped it I lost contact with zope. Is there a way to start zope so that it stays running after I close the ssh connection? Another thing I need to know is the following: The server is a virtual hosting server and I am wondering if running zope is going to affect the other domains hosted on the same box...I dont want to cause problems....can anyone give me any ideas about how running a site with say 1500/2000 pagereads a day and 1 gig of tranfers per month will do to the environment? Anything I should avoid doing especially?...configurations that can be adjusted? regards to all David

frameset bug in latest Zope 2.3.1
by Jason Cunliffe 01 Apr '01

01 Apr '01

Latest version of Zope 2.3.1 renders an HTML frameset error [Win98se, IE5.1]: The top margin displays the same as the left-hand menu margin. Previous beta versions showed Zope logo etc. The problem lies within the DTML being accessed by the first 2 methods: manage_top_frame manage_menu manage_workspace - Jason ___________________________________________________________ Jason CUNLIFFE = NOMADICS['Interactive Art and Technology']

Re: [Zope] Getting a date into an object title - DON'T Disregard
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 31 Mar '01

Therapy or not, I spoke too soon. I did manage to get a time in as part of the title. Unfortunately, the time that I got was ZopeTime(). What I want to get in is the time (really a date) set by the user. This date is taken in as input from the form page, it is then sent to a DTML Method that then calls the Python script. As I mentioned before, the parameter in question is "contact_date". If I try to set myTitle = '%d' % contact_date then I get an error. However, if I try to set myTitle = '%d' % report_title then I don't get an error. The report_title parameter was set in the DTML Method that was called by the HTML form. that code is <dtml-let report_title="ZopeTime()"> Unfortunately, if I set <dtml-let report_title=contact_date> I get an error. Note, the </dtml-let> is AFTER the call to the python script. Is there something I'm missing? When I try this I get the same error as before. it still tries to access the site root in http://www.whatever.com/www/www.whatever.com/ Is there a configuration file I could delete? I have tried uninstalling both the zserver and zope packages and removing the /var/zope directory, but to no avail. zSQl and changing connection ids?
by David Hassalevris 31 Mar '01

31 Mar '01

Hello Zope listers!, Im about 3 months into Zope and find it persistently interesting and humbling! Here's my question: Can I dynamically change zSQL method's CONNECTION ID? If so, 1) Would I use the "object manager?" 2) can this be done safely? One consultant warned against this saying it could create a "race condition" ... "if more than one user tried this simultaneously". Example: zSQL-method-1 has a default connection-id to a gvibDA Interbase Connection which, in turn has a connection string attaching it to say, our "los-angeles" database. But a another client, in another folder, needs to connect to a different (but identically structured) database. It would be nice to be able to "temporarily" alter zSQL-method-1's connection-id to another gvibDA Connection (which points to a different database). Clearly, I could write a "second set" of zSQL methods that only differ from the first in terms of which database connection it refers to. But then one is maintaining an additional set of zSQL methods for each new client :-( What kinds of solutions can anyone recommend in cases like this? Much thanks, David ps - this is my first post to the group, forgive if I did this incorrectly.

problem with european date parsing
by Oliver Frommel 31 Mar '01

31 Mar '01

Hello, I encountered a problem when trying to use european date format with Zope. When I pass a value:date from a form to dtml or python script, Zope tries to parse this value. However when the date format is ambigous it swaps month and date, i.e. when I have a date 1.2.2001 (first of february) Zope makes this 2.1.2001 internally. So I was using a python script which assumes that Zope does this and swap the values myself: in dtml: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('date', swapmd(inputdate))"> with python script (param date): return DateTime(date.year(), date.day(), date.month()) now when date.day() is bigger than 11, Zope _does_ parse the date correctly. This lead to my new script: if date.day() > 11: newdate = DateTime(date.year(), date.month(), date.day()) else: newdate = DateTime(date.year(), date.day(), date.month()) return newdate which is somehow ugly and may fail neverthelesse .. So is there a way to supply a format string to Zope to make it parse my Date correctly (similar to output "%d.%m.%Y" e.g.)?? thanks for your help --Oliver
