Getting a date into an object title
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

I want to put a date value into a DTML Document title so that when the DTML Documents are sorted by their title, they will automatically be sorted by date. (Incidentally, the title also has some other non-date information.) I've tried various schemes and they don't work. I'm using the Zope book template for creating the DTML Documents (which are loaded by the users who don't have manage access). This means that I have a form to gether information (including the contact date, which is transmitted from the form as "contact_date"). The form calls an DTML method that calls a Python script which creates the DTML Document. Any hints, either in DTML or for the Python script, would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ron

escaping single quotes in StructuredText?
by Bill Seitz 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

If I want to show single quotes around some text in a page coming from StructuredText, how do I escape them so that they don't get turned into 'example code'? I could do something ugly like put other punctuation around the single quotes, but that's pretty ugly. Tried using backslashes, but that didn't work: it just showed the backslashes and single quotes explicitly, which is \'pretty ugly\'. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sudden authentication problem
by Dunigan, Craig 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

I've been trying to use documentation and avoid asking the list, but I'm stumped now. I have three Zope 2.3 servers on RedHat 7.0, each running a ZEO client to get their ZODB storage from a ZEO server running on NT4. Users login with this DTML method: <dtml-let userid="REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'].getUserName()"> <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('/base/People/' + _['userid'])"> </dtml-let> which forces a login and points them to their home folders, in a folder called "People." In there, they see their own files, and a "management" icon for each, that points to DTML containing this snippet: <dtml-let quotedEWItem="EWurl_quote(_, _.None, EWparam=_['EWItem'])" currentFileName="_.string.split(_['EWItem'], '/')[-1]"> For document:<br>    <a href="<dtml-var quotedEWItem>"> <span class="URLsmall"><dtml-var quotedEWItem></span></a><br> <br> <form action="EWFileEditProperties" method="POST"> <input type="hidden" name="EWItem" value="<dtml-var EWItem>"> <input type="hidden" name="EWUpdateBody" value="1"> <dtml-with "REQUEST.resolve_url(BASE0+_['EWItem'])"> <table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="2"> All was well until Thursday morning. I hate it when users tell *me* this, but I changed nothing. I do have a co-worker with a global Manager role who is not "technically oriented," but he swears he did nothing, either. Hmph. Anyway, now about half my users can login, but get an authentication error when accessing the file management icon. The error page includes this traceback: Traceback (innermost last): File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 222, in publish_module File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: EWFileEditPropertiesForm) File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: EWFileEditPropertiesForm) File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/OFS/DTMLDocument.py, line 189, in __call__ (Object: EWFileEditPropertiesForm) File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: EWFileEditPropertiesForm) File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Let.py, line 147, in render (Object: quotedEWItem="EWurl_quote(_, _.None, EWparam=_['EWItem'])" currentFileName="_.string.split(_['EWItem'], '/')[-1]") File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 711, in renderwob (Object: Catalog({'meta_type':'Yihaw Folder'})) File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, line 334, in eval (Object: REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'].has_permission('Add EW Nav Links', REQUEST.resolve_url(BASE0+getpath(data_record_id_)))) (Info: BASE0) File <string>, line 0, in ? File /opt/Zope/ZopeInst/lib/python/ZPublisher/HTTPRequest.py, line 724, in resolve_url Unauthorized: (see above) I'm a novice programmer, with a nodding acquaintance with Python at best. But from this, I read that AUTHENTICATED USER doesn't have the permission 'Add EW Nav Links' (our own concotion, obviously), and it seems that he lacks that permission in 'BASE0+getpath(data_record_id),' which I presume evaluates to the current folder? Each user has a local role of Manager in his/her own folder, which I thought is what the current folder would be. I stress that this arrangement was working until the magical voodoo of software "spontaneous degradation" took place. Anyway, users can't change their file properties, which they have to do. I have checked the permissions for the broken accounts compared to the working accounts and can visually find no difference, but obviously there has to be something I'm missing. Any suggestions? Reindex_object problem
by Chris Muldrow 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

I'm having trouble getting reindex_object to work inside an external method. I suspect my syntax is flawed. What I'm doing is instantiating a Catalog-aware ZClass and then attaching properties to it. I know I need to reindex after I've added properties, but it doesn't like it in the external method. (I have been able to reindex with a separate piece of DTML, but that's not ideal!) Thanks in advance--Chris def addFLSNews(newdir, newid, data, credate, workDir): """ """ # Get the actual destination object, using the this() # method, to be sure we get it in the right context.. data=processXMLEntities(data) storyText=getBody(data) # Create the new instance newob=newdir.Control_Panel.Products.FLSNewsStory.FLSNewsStory(storyText) newob._setId(newid) newdir._setObject(newid, newob) newob.title=getTitle(data) varPics=getPics(workDir, data, credate, newid, newdir) varStoryName=getStoryName(data) varByfunc=getByfunc(data) varUser=getUser(data) varAuthor=getAuthor(data) varPicID=getPicID(data) varCategory=getCategory(data) varLocality=getLocality(data) varBasket=getBasket(data) varNwords=getNwords(data) varEditionInfo=getEditionInfo(data) varSummary=getSummary(data) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'PhotosList' :varPics}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'User':varUs er}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Byline':var Author}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'StoryName': varStoryName}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Byfunc':var Byfunc}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'PicID':varP icID}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Category':v arCategory}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Locality':v arLocality}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Nwords':var Nwords}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'EditionInfo ':varEditionInfo}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Summary':va rSummary}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'CreateDate' :credate}) newob.propertysheets.FLSNewsProperties.manage_changeProperties({'Basket':var Basket}) newob.reindex_object -- Chris Muldrow, muldrow(a)mac.com

Add properties to ZClass instance?
by Paul Godley 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

I've got a ZClass to which I'd like to add (variable) properties when the instance is created. I made a "Basic" propertysheet and tried "manage_addProperty" but Zope reports that properties cannot be added. I can add properties to DTML Documents. Can you construct a ZClass such that you can add properties to an instance, both via management screens and programatically? Thanks. -P -- Technology Concepts & Design, Inc.

ZMI and Mozilla 0.8.1 problem

Hey everyone, Can anyone else confirm that Mozilla 0.8.1 (on Linux at least) doesn't display the ZMI properly? Re: [Zope] tino's <dtml-in> improvements Why, DC?
