IOERROR Uploading a file
by Richard Moon 15 Mar '01

15 Mar '01

Anyone had this ? I'm getting an IOERROR Errno 5 Input/output error when uploading a file to my zope site. The file is handled by an external method def abcfile_read(self,REQUEST): # following line reads each line from uploaded code file=REQUEST.form['abcfile'] and the error is occurring at the file=REQUEST.form['abcfile'] line Now this works fine on my development machine and it _did_ work fine at my hosts but now it doesn't (after updating the site and the external methods - but AFAIK not changing the file upload area). I did 're-edit' the external method on the management interface. Is it permissions ? Any clues where to start looking would be greatly appreciated. the form which is used for the input looks like <form ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" method="post"> Abc file <input type="FILE" name="abcfile"> Here's the traceback <!-- Traceback (innermost last): File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 222, in publish_module File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: AddAbcFileLogic.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: AddAbcFileLogic.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 172, in __call__ (Object: AddAbcFileLogic.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 528, in __call__ (Object: AddAbcFileLogic.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 168, in __call__ (Object: AddAbcFileResults.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 528, in __call__ (Object: AddAbcFileResults.html) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 633, in renderwob (Object: abcfile_read(REQUEST)) File /home/sites/site7/users/tunedb/2-2-2/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, line 337, in eval (Object: abcfile_read(REQUEST)) (Info: REQUEST) File <string>, line 0, in ? ZMySQLDA cannot find _mysql
by Joshua 15 Mar '01

15 Mar '01

Hi I'm on win2k and installed ZMySQLDA as well as the win32 MySQLdb module from Gerhard's ( http://home.t-online.de/home/err666/ ) The mysqldb is installed in my python dir. I can import from the python window just fine, but ZMySQLDA does not find it in Zope - missing _mysql is the message. What do I need to do for Zope to recognize it? I've searched the list but found nothing on win32 and this. Thanks

Python packages (was: RE: [Zope] FTDraw)

Paz writes: > Thanks for the tip Dieter, but indeed, the __init__.py is there. > > However, you say that the _init_ is necessary. Is this more of a zope thing? It is being a Python thing: Python before 1.5 only knew "modules". Then, following Java, packages have been invented (to prevent pollution and conflicts in namespace, modules are found in). A package is essentially a (file system) folder that contains modules and other packages (subpackages). You use it in forms like this: import package.subpackage.module or from package.subpackage import module Details in Python's package support document. The problem with this: legacy * of course, modules have been organized before in folders. How to distinquish such folders from packages? Guido descided, that the existence of "__init__.py" does this. If it is there, the folder is a package; otherwise, it is just a folder containing modules. * "*.pth" files They have been invented to make modules organized in folders easily accessible be Zope. Some magic (defined in "site.py") looks for "*.pth" files and extends PYTHONPATH by what it finds there. PYTHONPATH is used to locate modules (and now packages). Through the PYTHONPATH extension, modules could be found even if they have been in subfolders. Using packages and "*.pth" files together can lead to serious problems (although, I do not expect this in your case): It confuses Python's module loader. Normally, it prevents the same module to be loaded twice. But under this confusion, it may load the same module several times under different names. Some modules hate to be loaded twice... Your code snipped "import PIL.XXXX" with the error message "could not find 'XXXX'" suggests, that "PIL" is used as a package and that is has been found but "XXXX" was not found. I cannot remember the precise name, but I think, your "XXXX" should be defined there. Apparently, the PIL found is strange, not what/how it should be. Usually, I would analyse such problems be starting the Python interpreter interactively (without Zope). Under Unix (I always work under Unix, can't help much with Windows): export PYTHONHOME=<Your Zope Distribution Directory> <Your Python used by Zope, usually "bin/python"> import PIL PIL.__path__ PIL.__file__ If "PIL.__path__" raises an exception, your "PIL" is not a package. "PIL.__file__" tells you, where the module/package has been found. If you put PIL inside the "Products" folder (in fact a package), then the above "import" would look like: from Products import PIL Dieter

Hi, Let me kindly know whether we have to install Zope at the root directory of the Linex machine. B'coz When we tried to install zope at the directory 'root/home/pgmtool' Zope got installed but when the ./start was run it gave the error as 'z2.py permission denied'. what may be the problem ?. Do we need to install zope at the root directory only ?. Please throw some light. Thanks, jacintha

oops. I keep forgetting Reply All -----Original Message----- From: Paz [mailto:paz@chello.nl] Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 7:26 AM To: Dieter Maurer Subject: RE: [Zope] FTDraw Thanks for the tip Dieter, but indeed, the __init__.py is there. However, you say that the _init_ is necessary. Is this more of a zope thing? It says in the PIL docs for the latest, that the PIL.pth is the all-important package identifier. I tried moving it around, also with no avail. What gets me confused is when PIL in in the products area, the message is: (when PIL is in /Products/PIL) Cannot import Products.TextImage yadda yadda.. No module named PIL.Image (when PIL is in /bin/PIL) Cannot import Products.TextImage yadda yadda.. No module named Image Is it me or is the compiler decreeing that it finds it but its being stubborn? Pil is being a pill... Duh... can the compiler read or has > the third bottle of wine FUBAR'd me? Can you verify, that "PIL" contains a "__init__.py" file. Some broken unpackers remove empty files. But "__init__.py" is essential, even if empty. Dieter

bobo_mod_time difference in zcat vs object
by Joel Burton 15 Mar '01

15 Mar '01

First of all, apologies for the dozen questions over the past week. Zope's learning curve gets very steep as one takes the first steps through the API, and the many responses here have been very helpful. I have a series of books that are JBook ZClass objects. They (naturally) have a bobobase_modification_time of when the instance was last modified. I have a catalog, BookCatalog, that holds the JBooks. The default index for bobo_mod_time is and default metadata for it are there. If I clear the catalog, re-find JBooks and look in the catalog values, I can see that a particular book has a bobo_mod_time of today. But: when I iterate over the query results, I see a bobo_mod_time of yesterday. For example: <dtml-in "Catalog.searchResults(meta_type=['JBook'])" sort=bobobase_modification_time reverse> <dtml-var title> from_obj: <dtml-var "getObject().bobobase_modification_time()"> from_cat: <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time> </dtml-in> returns different values for my book from_obj (today) and from_cat (yesterday), even though when I looked in the cat, I see today for bobo_mod_time. What I'd like is the bobo_mod_time of today, since that's when I actually changed the object! I've cleared and re-found my objects, and this doesn't fix the problem. I am not using RAM cache or any other (intentional) caching objects. Any ideas? Thanks! -- Joel Burton <jburton(a)scw.org> Director of Information Systems, Support Center of Washington

Catalogs

Does anybody know how to delete the references to items in a catalog since deleting alone does not seem to accomplish this. When a search is done I don't want any references to that object. thanks
