RES: [Zope] formatting problem...
by Daniel Corrêa de Azevedo 15 Mar '01

15 Mar '01

Deer paz, my group figured out that there is a SQL function FORMAT that can be used to get rid of the L sufix that comes in the query result. e.g: SELECT FORMAT(int_key, 0) FROM data That code should result to you a query without the L sufix. See you, Daniel. **************************************************************************** ******************************************************** > ZMySQLDA always converts columns of MySQL type int(11) (the normal > 'integer' field type) to Python Long values. Re: [Zope] Authenticating against NT domain from NT-based Zope

Hello Ian sorry, I missed that. The only pointers I can give you is the following. Reading the "Python Programming on Win32" from O'Reilly, there is a short example on how to reboot a machine. In this example it is mentioned to refer to the MS WinNT Security document. Looks like the win32security module is just a wrapper around the standard MFC or C API for Microsoft. I have found http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/psdk/winbase/accclsrv_9cfm.htm. In this pointer is stated that the flag LOGON32_LOGON_NETWORK is associated with limitations as: "to authenticate clear text passwords". I suppose you did not tricked the registry to send clear password over the network, so this can be one problem. It could be that you should use LOGON32_LOGON_BATCH. Let me know, I' curious. Regards Stefano Dear Stefano, > have you tried to do this in an External Method rather than in a > script? Scripts have security checks which are not applied to > external methods. This can be a little help in solving the problem. Indeed. The script I gave in my original email < http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/54291 > isn't actually a Zope Python Script. It's just a standalone bit of Python that I can't get to work. Technically, I suppose, I'm having problems with the win32security module (I'm still keen to find some documentation if anyone can point me in the right direction), rather than Zope, but I was hoping someone here would have had similar problems. Cheers, Ian

Hello Ian have you tried to do this in an External Method rather than in a script? Scripts have security checks which are not applied to external methods. This can be a little help in solving the problem. Regards Stefano Vedovelli

ANNOUNCE: Zope 2.3.1 beta 2 released
by Brian Lloyd 15 Mar '01

15 Mar '01

Hello all, Zope 2.3.1 beta 2 has been released - you can download it from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b2/ Zope 2.3.1b2 contains a number of bug fixes, including the fixes for the issues addressed by the 02/23 and 03/08 hotfixes. It also contains a number of changes to address issues with ZCatalog. New data structures have been introduced to reduce the number of conflict errors caused by object indexing under some types of usage, and to reduce the amount of object database bloat that occurs when indexed objects change frequently. The changes to ZCatalog have been designed so that newly created ZCatalog objects will take advantage of the new data structures. Existing ZCatalog objects will continue to work with the old data structures, but will not gain any of the benefits of the new code. It is possible to upgrade an existing ZCatalog object to use the new data structures by following the How-To at: http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/HowTos/UpgradeToNewCatalog **Users of the Zope source releases should note** that this release contains new C code, as well as a few changes to existing C code. If you are using a source release (or the source diff update), be sure to run 'w_pcgi.py' or 'wo_pcgi.py' as appropriate before starting Zope to ensure that your binaries are rebuilt. For more information on what is new in this release, see the CHANGES.txt and HISTORY.txt files for the release: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b2/CHANGES.txt http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b2/HISTORY.txt Note that we have also posted "diff" updates as .tgz files that will let you easily upgrade an existing 2.3.x site. These updates are available for those currently using the 2.3.x source release or the 2.3.x binary releases. To apply a differential update to your site: - download the appropriate .tgz file from zope.org - shutdown your Zope process - copy the .tgz to your Zope directory and extract it - run w_pcgi or wo_pcgi *if you are not using a binary release* - restart your process Brian Lloyd brian(a)digicool.com Software Engineer 540.371.6909 Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com

Protected Z words
by Peter Bengtsson 15 Mar '01

Is there a list of variable names that should be avoided in Zope dev? For example, haveing a field in my mysql database called id or title isn't very smart. I know for a fact that "from" is a strange word. Or is it my application perhaps? <dtml-var from> didn't work, so I changed it to <dtml-var "REQUEST['from']"> and then it worked. Peter

I can't use this object as a 'list all' > solution. Isn't that the whole point of the dtml-sqltest tag? Then, you wrap it into an "dtml-if": <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-if ID> "URL"."ID" = <dtml-var ID sql_quote> </dtml-if> <dtml-and> .... Dieter
