Welcome to Zope, Dennis. I trust you will find it both exciting and frustrating. You can adjust your superuser name and password with the zpasswd.py script. Restart Zope and login with the chosen username and password. zope@jesterdev:~/zope$ python zpasswd.py access Username: superuser Password: Verify password: Please choose a format from: SHA - SHA-1 hashed password CRYPT - UNIX-style crpyt password CLEARTEXT - no protection. Encoding: SHA Domain restrictions: williams.com zope@jesterdev:~/zope$ ./stop zope@jesterdev:~/zope$ ./start zope@jesterdev:~/zope$ Your next hurdle will be the infamous 'Superuser cannot own' error message. Once you have logged in, go to the acl_users folder and add a normal user with the *MANAGER* role. Next, close all copies of your browser. Finally open up your manage screens, logged in as your new user with the MANAGER role and the world is your oyster. Hmm, IIRC the Content-Disposition should force a download dialog, i.e. disable automatic launching of attachments - that is at least the way I always use it. > When viewed under Internet Explorer 5.0 under Windows NT 4 (sp5), the > dialog box opens but IE tells me it can't download the file. Have you tried the same without this header? At least I can tell you that I have used reportlab to generate PDFs for IE 5 successfully. cheers, oliver

FTP and nested ZClasses
by John R. Daily 14 Mar '01

14 Mar '01

I'm running into problems with nested ZClasses and the FTP server in 2.3.0. Most significant problem: if I have a ZClass defined within another ZClass in a Product, I can't access the methods directory of the nested ZClass. The FTP server returns a 550, "No such directory". I've tried this with ange-ftp, lftp, and generic ftp. I haven't yet reported it to the Collector, in hopes I'm just missing something obvious. Other annoyances: What's up with the trailing space after nested class names? Finally, why doesn't the FTP server recognize a renamed file as a Python Script when it has ## Script (Python) "private_create_component" at the top? -- -- John R. XML Document
by Andreas Tille 14 Mar '01

Hello, I would like to package FreePM (http://www.freepm.org) for Debian. This package depends from XMLDocument which I found at http://www.zope.org/Members/jerome/ZCPL/Products/XMLDocument/XMLDocument-1.… . Unfortunately this file doesn't contain the slightes hint about the author of this package nor a license. This permits distributing it in Debian. Could someone enlighten me about authorship so I can ask for a valid license? Kind regards Andreas.

problem with Zope and IE and ReportLab
by Jerome Alet 14 Mar '01

14 Mar '01

Hi, not sure if the problem comes from ReportLab, in fact I'm almost sure it doesn't. However I post it to both RL and Zope lists to be sure to have an answer. here's the problem: With the help I've received yesterday from the RL list, I've managed to create an external method which generates a PDF document with RL. This external method, rpdf, is called from a DTML method which does (exactly) the following: --- CUT --- <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', 'application/pdf')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'attachment; filename=rapport.pdf')"> <dtml-var rpdf> --- CUT --- When viewed in Netscape 4.76 under Linux, all works fine, and a dialog box opens, asking me to save the PDF file as "rapport.pdf", or if I've got acroread installed as a plugin on the machine, automatically launches it and all is fine and works flawlessly. When viewed under Internet Explorer 5.0 under Windows NT 4 (sp5), the dialog box opens but IE tells me it can't download the file. Unfortunately I don't have Netscape under Windows installed to make more tests. Does someone see where the problem comes from ? Thanks in advance. Scripting Netscape Composer?
by Paul Browning 14 Mar '01

14 Mar '01

(Not strictly a Zope question but you're all such clever people and I'd like to try and integrate things with a Zope back-end.) Question: I'd like to be able to cause Netscape Composer to open from Netscape (the browser) if a link (called, say, "Edit This Page") was selected. Any thoughts on how this might be done? Javascript? And, yes, I know Amaya nicely toggles between browse/edit modes. And I know about the neat http://standardbrains.editthispage.com/ trick for IE. But I need to find a Netscape Composer solution as, at present, it's already sitting on most people's desktops locally. (Yeah - I know I ought to be able to expect users to go File -> Edit Page from Netscape the browser but I'm trying to make the create/edit page, publish page, create/edit page cycle as seamless as possible.)
