In fact, the behaviour is not completely different: it is still controlled by the same code/algorithm. But the different contexts lead to slightly different behaviour, influenced by the context. You have similar effects in object orientend languages with dynamic method resolution. Dieter

FTDraw

Hi, As per Jim's non-related email regarding Zope installs, I class myself as uber-idiot... Im trying to get FTDraw running, and YES, I can read... I obtained all of the dependant modules.... Fine. Put them all in the /bin/something directory. Start Zope in debug mode. Get: ERROR: Cannot find Image module... Hmm... I thought I covered that. Okay, maybe it cant find it... Lets try moving it to the /lib/python/products directory... ERROR: Cannot find PIL.Image module Grrr.... Fine... At least the error message is different... Progress by Old Bell's standard. Lets check it out.. Um.... /lib/python/Products/PIL/Image.py.... Duh... can the compiler read or has the third bottle of wine FUBAR'd me? Guess its time to goto bed. Perhaps while Im sleeping in the rainy Netherlands, some of my hardowrking American compatriots still at their desks can tell me how stupid I am that I missed one small factor like 'the documentation doesnt account that you are on 2.3.0 Zope and you need to do.....' changing object properties

Hi all, I created my first ZClass: ok Now I'd like to create a method for editing my class instances' properties, just for not using propertysheets/MyProperties/manage which is not the nicest to see. Ok, I created a DTML method with the front-end which calls a Script (Python) which should actually update the properties' values. I tried two ways of writing such a script: 1. context._updateProperty(name_property, value_from_form) It gives me an "IOError" while saving script changes (I suppose because it is an internal python method, it would works only if external, am I right?) 2. context.name_property=value_from_form It gives me an "Error Type: TypeError - Error Value: attribute-less object (assign or del)" when executed Now, probably it is a stupid Python question.. could you help me anyway? (I'd prefer to stay with just internal ppython methods) Thanks a lot Michele

Problem refreshing a python product

I'm back :) I'm having a problem with Zope not refreshing my python products. I have a broken product that I'm writing and I can't convince zope to refresh and reread the product code. I've tried restarting, shutting down and starting again, and the Refresh product. I've deleted .pyc files and it still shows the same traceback. The traceback still shows a line of code that I've removed from the product. At this point, I'll try almost anything. TIA, Troy

If (like me) you _want_ Zope to use an already-installed Python, you'll need to install from Zope source. [DC]Updating DTML and HTML in Products

Hey Guys: I am using the Tracker (from CVS) and I noted the high content of DTML in the older format:  and some HTML that *could* be updated to XHTML. I have been tweaking my Tracker ZClass and I want to know if DC is interested in files that *only* have DTML updated to the new format (no site specific changes) or updated HTML. Troy
