ZClass property sheets and permissions
by John Morton 14 Mar '01

14 Mar '01

I'm working on a simple TODO list ZClass product which has a pair of property sheets, Basic and Complete, which cover the standard properties and the properties relating to when the item is completed. I'd like to bind the management of each sheet to a particular permission - 'Change TODO item properties' and 'Mark TODO Item As Complete'. So I've created those two permissions at the product level (as it appears you can't create them in the ZClass itself). When it comes to binding a particular property sheet's 'Manage Properties' permission to one of these permissions, they don't appear on the list of possibilities, yet the Add permission for the ZClass does appear. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? John

Namespace confusion
by Joel Burton 14 Mar '01

14 Mar '01

I have a ZClass _add method (for JBook), which adds an instance of the class. This instance should automatically have an instance of another class (JDiscussFolder) added as a child. I am handling this as <dtml-with "JBook.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['title'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.common.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <adtml-call "REQUEST.set('id', 'discuss')"> <adtml-call "REQUEST.set('title', 'Discussion Area')"> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['JDiscuss']"> <dtml-call "JDiscuss_Folder_add( _.None, _)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> which adds the JBook (using the form-derived title as the id), and adds the properties filled out on the add form. It also adds the JDiscussItem, where I want to set the id and title to something else. I've done this by REQUEST.set, which works fine. The problem is that it overwrites the current values of title and id, so I can refer later to the book title and id. I've tried to do this like wrap the JDiscuss_add in <dtml-let> or <dtml-with> bands to supply a namespace for the title and id, but haven't been successful. For example, I thought that <dtml-with " { 'id': 'discuss', 'title': 'Discussion area' }" mapping> .. call to add the discuss folder </dtml> would work, but it doesn't. (No error, just doesn't use the new id or title.) How can I pass in these variables w/o resorting to the overwriting REQUEST.set calls? Yes it is in the acquistion path, it is a root level property! I know that is what the problem appears to be, but how can changing a password cause it not to find a root level password??????? Your problem is that it cant find BoxName, is that visible in the Acquistion? -- Andy McKay. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Rusch" <drusch(a)globalcrossing.com> To: <zope(a)zope.org> Sent: Monday, March 12, 2001 3:28 PM Subject: [Zope] Manage > All, > > Zope 2.3.0 (binary release, python 1.5.2, solaris-2.6-sparc) > Python Version 1.5.2 (#8, Nov 16 1999, 10:05:41) [GCC 2.8.1] > System Platform sunos5 > > We have a page that allows users to change their password it executes > the following: > > > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('name', login_name)"> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('password', password)"> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('confirm', confirm)"> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('roles', > acl_users.getUser(login_name).getRoles())"> > <dtml-call "acl_users.manage_users(submit='Change', REQUEST=REQUEST)"> > > > The password is changed and the user is taken to a page that notifies > them that their password was changed, but when the user tries to > navigate to any page instead of getting an Authentication dialog, they > get a NameError for a variable that is (or should be) there. > > It is as if the Name Space is lost? Resolving nvarchar fields via ZmxODBCDA
by Capesius, Alan 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

This query works under ZODBCDA. It allows searching of SQL7 tables for specific field names or search strings. e.g. %NAME% will find any field name containing 'NAME' NAME will find any field named 'NAME' SELECT table_catalog,table_name,column_name,data_type FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS where column_name like <dtml-sqlvar search_string type=string> order by ordinal_position It fails under ZmxODBC the following example shows how to convert the nvarchar fields to char type fields within an SQL query so that ZmxODBC can deal with them: SELECT table_catalog = CONVERT(char(30),table_catalog), table_name = CONVERT(char(30),table_name), column_name = CONVERT(char(30),column_name), data_type = CONVERT(char(30),data_type) FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS where column_name like <dtml-sqlvar search_string type=string> order by ordinal_position The same technique should apply to other unsupported types. Re: [Zope] Question about python binary with zope install

It is only 423k. Are there certain modules or whatever added to > the binary that comes with Zope that I need to use? Zope uses dynamically loaded shared objects for C extensions. Try to use your installed Python. If it has thread support, you have a good chance that it will work. If it does not work, you will be told in a clear way. Maybe, stripping the Zope distributed Python will reduce its size. Make a copy before stripping. It may be possible that symbols essential for dynamic linking are stripped, too. Dieter
