Newbie: dtml-unless
by Stephan Goeldi 12 Mar '01

12 Mar '01

I'd like to list the content of a folder, except if it is the standard_html_header or footer. I use this code: <dtml-unless "'id' == 'standard_html_header'"> <dtml-unless "'id' == 'standard_html_footer'"> <dtml-in expr="foldername.objectValues()"> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var id></a><br> </dtml-in> </dtml-unless> </dtml-unless> It works except of the fact, that standard_html_header and footer are listed anyway. Can anybody point me into the right direction please? TIA -goe- _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

I haven't tested this, but it looks like you are performing your if tests outside the loop. Try this: <dtml-in expr="foldername.objectValues()"> <dtml-unless "'id' == 'standard_html_header'"> <dtml-unless "'id' == 'standard_html_footer'"> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var id></a><br> </dtml-unless> </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> Troy -----Original Message----- From: Stephan Goeldi [mailto:stephan_goeldi@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, March 12, 2001 10:06 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Newbie: dtml-unless I'd like to list the content of a folder, except if it is the standard_html_header or footer. Also see the Zope Grand Unified Desktop: http://www.zope.org/Members/morphex/ZopeGUD which aims to do almost exactly what you are looking for. Later, Jerry S.

Hope, that your colleagues (looking at the commercial solutions) are a bit more cautious before they spend big money.... I think, you can go for Zope (at least, if you have some programming skills and have a bit of time). I have just read the announcement of "Amphora Light". Seems that it gives you most of what you want. http://www.amphora.ee/freeware/ You, probably, will need to do the "booking" stuff yourself, but I saw recently some posts in this respect. You can share forces with other persons on the list to get it implemented. Dieter

Year of the Zope Book
by Donald Braman 12 Mar '01

12 Mar '01

>From http://python.oreilly.com/news/pythonday2_0301.html: Zope is not an easy technology to find information about. But, according to Everitt, "This is the year of the Zope book." Currently, there is a nice set of documentation in ebook format on Beehive, including a particularly useful book on ZClass. O'Reilly has announced that it is developing a high-end Zope book, one built around a complete Zope application, but we're not able to announce a date for its publication yet. (Watch www.oreilly.com for news.) We've also heard that another publisher intends to publish the Zope documentation sometime this year. hmmm...who could that other publisher be? ;-) Don

RE: [Zope] Acquisition Problem ?
by Farrell, Troy 12 Mar '01

Sorry, I should have explained that you can get it explicitly by: <dtml-var expr="REQUEST.abc_text"> Troy -----Original Message----- From: Farrell, Troy [mailto:troy.farrell@wilcom.com] Sent: Friday, March 09, 2001 1:48 PM To: 'Richard Moon'; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Acquisition Problem ? You have an instance of variable-clobbering. abc_text is acquired from the dtml-let inside mydtml_1. You have set the value in REQUEST, but REQUEST is at the bottom of the list when variable names are looked up. This is explained on page 15 of the Document Template Markup Language Reference. Unfortunately, I can't find a link for it. Ok, I found it in the Zope Book http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/AdvDTML.dtml First section. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Richard Moon [mailto:richard@dcs.co.uk] Sent: Friday, March 09, 2001 12:56 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Acquisition Problem ? Can anyone explain what's going on here - please ? I've got a dtml method 'mydtml_1' which processes a file uploaded via a form - like this <dtml-in "abcfile_read(REQUEST)"> <dtml-let abc_text=sequence-item> <dtml-unless "_.len(abc_text)==0"> <dtml-var mydtml_2> </dtml-unless> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> In the dtml method mydtml_2 I have some code like this <dtml-var expr="REQUEST.set('abc_text',external_method_that_returns_hello_world(abc_te xt))> <dtml-var REQUEST> <dtml-var abc_text> What happens is that the <dtml-var REQUEST> shows abc_text having the new value of "Hello World" but the <dtml-var abc_text> shows the value as it was in mydtml_1 Presumably <dtml-var abc_text> is acquiring the value from mydtml_1. Can anyone tell me why ? And how to get <dtml-var abc_text> to return the value I want i.e. "Hello World" ? This is Zope 2.2.1 (Note - if I do not put <dtml-var mydtml_2> inside the <dtml-in> and <dtml-let> constructs then it works as expected, e.g. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('abc_text','Goodbye Forever')"> <dtml-var mydtml_2> will render "Hello World" ) Many thanks Richard Moon richard(a)dcs.co.uk _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Re: documentations?
by Martijn Pieters 12 Mar '01

Hi Ryan, First of all, you can best ask questions about Zope on the Zope mailinglist; I send this reply there as well. Sending questions to the list lets you tap into the vast experience of the community. More information can be found at: http://www.zope.org/Resources/MailingLists I combined your two emails into one for easy answering. On Mon, Mar 12, 2001 at 12:13:08PM +0800, chowryan wrote: > - Are there any documentations that would help me with the tasks I need > to do? Look at: http://www.zope.org/Documentation I especially recommend the Zope book: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB > - Zope's system can include other languages such as Javascript, Java > (applets), perl, C, C++ ?? Other language support: Javascript -- Do you mean Javascript at the browser (client) side? Zope doesn't need special support for that, only the browser needs that. Just put Javascript in your generated HTML and let the browser do the rest. As for server-side, there is none at the moment. But as Javascript as part of Mozilla is open source, you can add it yourself. Java applets -- Applets are client side; Zope is server side. Drop them into Zope as File objects and everything will run. There are some efforts for getting server-side support for Java from the community. If you want to use Java server-side, you can have a look at JPE (Java Python Extensions), which let's you access Java code from Python code: http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpe Perl -- Yes, you can. ActiveState has done an excellent job of building Perl into Zope. See: http://www.zope.org/Members/andym/wiki/FrontPage C and C++ -- Speed critical areas of Zope have been implemented in C. Building C or C++ extensions to Python is easy. See the Python documentation on this subject: http://www.python.org/doc/1.5.2p2/ext/ext.html http://www.python.org/doc/1.5.2p2/api/api.html > - You said that I can host grant our clients privileges to manage their > site that we created for them but would we be able to manage our won > site with this system. Like be able to do a direct transfer from our > current site? What would it involve? Of course you can manage your own site yourself as well. The keywords here are manageability and delegation. You can easily manage your site, and you can delegate control of (part of) your server to others. There are ways of importing existing websites into Zope, but mostly only static HTML, files and images. Using Python and Perl you can usually convert your existing CGIs without too much trouble as well. Give the mailinglist more details, and they probably can help. Hope this helps! -- Martijn Pieters | Software Engineer mailto:mj@digicool.com | Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com/ | Creators of Zope http://www.zope.org/ ---------------------------------------------

Hello folks, is there an easy way to tell ActiveImages to add the FSSession variable to the URL when not using cookies ? Is patching the source the only solution?
