Thanks Dieter, I was kinda looking for a solution, I reviewed the mailing lists but do not see any solutions. I've done some more testing here: Summary: The user selects an involved financial report. The report takes about 55 seconds for Zope to prepare. The first second is the SQL server request and reply. The remaining time is Zope processing (dual 200mhz NT box). My queries are SELECT JOINS. No tables are modified at the server. The problem I see here is that Zope/ZODBCDA is holding the connection to SQL open via ODBC until all processing is complete and then issuing an SQL statement: IF @@TRANCOUNT>0 COMMIT TRAN Zope could free up this connection after one second. (at least in this case) Until Zope does the commit, other users are locked out. For read only queries, there is no need to have the request under transaction control. In any case, Zope should be able to early release the SQL connection and then process on the results. Certainly increasing processor speed will mask this problem and provide better response to users, but I'm hoping for a real fix. hi there ! i'm trying to create a dtml-document which i accomplished ! Still i want generate something like: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set( 'page', '<P> ' + '<dtml-let object="PARENTS[0].DIR1.DIR2.' + obj + ' " ' )> to my document. The problem are the character (") i have tried to use \" (escape character) but it didn't work : ( does anyone knows how to use (") in a string ?? thank you all and best regards, Nuno

Subtracting PreciseTime

Hi, Can someone help me with this construction? I have two dates that I want to find the difference in minutes or hours (preferably minutes) zdate 2001/03/07 17:08:00 GMT+1 start_date 2001/03/07 16:41:14 GMT+1 What I try: <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime(zdate-start_date).PreciseTime()"> which returns: 01:00:00.023 What is wrong here? I've tred breaking both dates down to Times first and then subtracting, but it doesnt work either..... HELP!? Thanks, PazLosingHairAtThisPont

As far as I remember DateTime has another method that returns only 7. Just looked it up in the Zope Book: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/AppendixB.dtml ------------ *day()* Return the integer day ------------------- Use like:: _.DateTime.day() That should do it. regards Max M

Creating a directory using Zcatalog and either tree or some other method

OK, here goes another convoluted question: I've got news stories in a Zcatalog. I want to build a directory of said stories. Each story contains multiple properties, with the key properties being title, CreateDate (the date the story was created), Category (Sports, Local, Features, etc.) and Locality (Stafford, Spotsylvania, etc.) I want to build this directory so it displays all of today's stories. I want to display them under headers using the following criteria: If Category=='Local', then print a header for the localities and sort them. Otherwise, print a header for the categories. Here's how it should look: Spotsylvania (This is the locality) Headline 1 Headline 2 Headline 3 (all of these stories have category "Local") Stafford Headline 1 Headline 2 Headline 3 (all of these stories have category "Local") Sports (This is the category) Headline 1 Headline 2 Features (This is the category) Headline 1 Headline 2 This code pulls out all of my stories for today's date. Hi there, I'm trying to build a "day" dropdown list with the current day as the selected value. However the if clause wont work for days with a daynumber below 10 since in my example below the DateTime.dd will return 07 and my sequence-item has the value of 7. Suggestions anyone please. ZCatalog and ExtFile

>From what I've read and understood, ZCatalog aware objects automatically update the catalog whenever they are added/deleted/changed. However, ExtFile does not update ZCatalog whenever I add another ExtFile object to the ZODB. I've checked the ExtFile code, and indeed, ExtFile inherits from Products.ZCatalog.CatalogAwareness, CatalogAware. I continued to look at the ExtFile code, and discovered that ExtFile overides many of the methods in CatalogAware (manage_afterAdd, manage_beforeDelete, etc), but doesn't contain any of the code in the methods of CatalogAware. I added the code from the CatalogAware methods, but my ZCatalog still does not update whenever an ExtFile object is added/deleted, etc. Am I missing something here, or am I completely off base with my thinking? Has anyone gotten the ExtFile product to be ZCatalog aware? HowTo configure premissions for LoginManager?

I have just setup a LoginManager following the LoginManager with SQL and Skinscripts by dlpierson. Now I'm thinking about how to setup security for my LoginManager. At the moment it's very open for anyone who has DTML permissions on my lab server. Not so great. LoginManager has premissions set to: Manager --- All Anonymous --- "Access contents information", "Use Database Methods" "Acquire permission settings?" --- None Now, this is needed to allow Anonymous user to login. No, Evan. I didn't and now I'm glad you've mentioned it. From now on I'll look for documentation within the methods at the python modules. The answer was at Application.py all the time. :) Now about urls parsed through getpath and <dtml-in>, and after looking at its correspondant Zcatalog.py module (where it isn't defined a "relative" argument), the remaining question would be this: Is there a short way to do the same thing, when using Zcatalog?
